Congratulations, I don't think I've heard so much useful , honest , unbiased information crammed into seventeen minutes ever. What a breath of fresh air. I'm sure you're doing extremely well with this approach to customers needs. Excellent, I'm subscribing
I've watched this video twice now, yeah I need a life, lol but you're a true breath of fresh air Richard and I learn so much from your videos; this one is particularly useful.
Hi, watched this in "auto play". I currently felt in love for a second hand guitar at my shop, was looking for a decent gigable polyvalent electric, but the price is high regarding my current budget. But yet that neck... pure butter, have tried most of the other electric at the store, nothing close to her. I found an alternative by paying in service a part of the guitar, and providing a big discount on my service daily rate. Back home, my wife told me it's stupid to lower my rate that much for that guitar. But it all end up in one thing, I felt great about that guitar for days despite trying to convince me it's not a lucid choice, I feel great I found a way to get it without selling my soul, and since I had it home for test and bring it back to the store, I miss her and am counting the days since she'll be mine. At the end of the day, that's what is important for me, I feel great thinking I'll have it as my main electric and play it for the years to come ^^ If I had pick the more reasonable choice regarding my budget (cort g290, that's how I've found your channel tbh), I would have a taste of regret every time I pick her up...
Refreshingly honest and informative videos [all if them } Richard. Helps take some of the mystique out of what guitar model works best for your playing style, how and where it will be played. Well worth watching. Some expensive, very/too finely built guitars can be an absolute nightmare...not always a good choice even with an unlimited budget.
I learned a few things. I usually just see one I like, cutaway, right color, descent action, that's it. I'll research something tirelessly and get to know it so well, by the time I go to buy it I'm a friggin expert. Not guitars, nope. Well this time I'm doing it right. It just occurred to me that the only time I research something is when I don't yet have the money for it. Hmmm
Great advice very sincere and friendly. However, there are people who consider the "brand" more important than the sound quality. Brand prefetence, travel practicality can be a detrimental factor too. Other than that durability can be also an issue with people who have many kids in their home. Cheers from Indonesia.
I do not think much did change in this last 10 years after my retirement, but Takamine(Japan) is been over and over the best sounding electroacoustic due to the patented (Maton) pick up system ,sturdy builded and price holding. The back and side being in playwood wouldn't influece the sound of a solid top as much as if the same guitar would have been with solid back and sides too (double price)the main sound and responsive difference will be surely in the top wood choices, the 2 more popolar being cedar or spruce.
Great video Richard. Learned a lot. I'm playing live in Australia, doing a one man band with a telecaster. I used a friends acoustic one night and got really beautiful sounds. I want to change to acoustic and love the thinner sound of the small guitar you played. Are there any guitars that you can recommend with that Fishman Matrix pickup. Thanks again That was awesome.
Thank you Richard for taking time out (i know you're a busy man) to make this very useful and informative video. It has made be realise just how vague my recent inquiry must seem to you, and may be why i haven't received the immediate answer i was expecting....mainly because you receive thousands of vague inquiries from guys wanting to "upgrade" apologies. I've learnt a lot from this video and will know how better to frame my inquiry in a more focused way in future. Rather than ask you (via email) to determine which guitar will produce the sound i have in my head! Many thanks. Liked and subscribed and will be definitely coming to S-O-A this year.
Hi there!!! I feel terrible now! Clearly this means you havent received a reply. Maybe if you forward your email I can have a look again - so sorry. I dont mean it to be an excuse but I am one person and I do my best to help who I can every day and never deliberately ignore anyone. Thanks so much for being so positive about what I do and understanding of my position. Remind me of your post when you visit - would love to say hi!
check your inbox re: slowlearner email and my enquiry via your website re: Seagull S6 variants Vs. Faith Naked Venus and which ones you have in stock so I can visit your store compare.
I play acoustic guitar and I want to buy a guitar that I can use on a stage in church. It has to be electric and I can spend 1000 quid. Is the Furch Millenium D19-CM-CE good for that? Do you have some advice?
Hello buddy Wich 🎸 guitar do you recommend to play everyday on stage.(2 hours per day)..singing and doing solos. (English songs of all times, folk, country, rock, ballad, blues, jazz) budget $1000 dollars
Sorry i know a little English language I love guitar nylon so much But i dont know wich one should i buy Can you tell me which model of guitar should i buy please I need that
Thanks for the great review. What would you recommend to someone with a up to $2K (or more if arm twists) for an acoustic ce? I do have a Takamine E CE which I love but I need to upgrade to something sweeter as I am moving into more of an arpeggiated folk/rhythm style. Insights welcome :)
Any recommendations on acoustic guitars with high melodic detailed, clean tone that can play classic rock, i am interested more in fingerplaying, my budget is under $600? taylor gs mini? i like the tone of the taylor 114ce with the cutout, but too expensive.
got it Do you ever go back & read comments on older post's or am I wasting my time writing this .. lol So I will be chatting to you sometime soon on the phone .
If I said to you between 500 and a grand that means I don’t want anything cheaper than 500 and I can go to a grand to get what I want.I can make that decision ,otherwise I wouldn’t say a grand at all
Great video. Just the info I need. I’d have gone and bought another full bodied guitar to only have the issues you payed out about them all over again. Shame your shop isn’t closer to me!
have you ever heard of BENTIVOGLIO guitars ?? I discovered them about 2 months ago on Reverb by seller named HITCHHICKER MUSIC based in KOREA, do you have any experience playing these guitars? they look very nice with the arm rest, does anyone have any exp playing the BENTIVOGLIO guitars? please let me know what you thought of them, i cant find any review on them on youtube or online?
Yo, I honestly never heard that guitar. But i just bought a Cort GA10F from hitchhiker music as well and the seller is very nice! It is so hard to find Cort GA10F online as it is newly released, but after all it is all legit. Just use your instinct if you want to buy a guitar online! ;)
Here you go. It is the Faith FKM. Stunning little parlor guitar rguitars.co.uk/products/faith-fkm and then the Fishman Matrix is here... rguitars.co.uk/products/fishman-matrix-infinity . You simply add the 2 items to the cart and we install the pickup completely free of charge as part of the service. You will also see the price of the pickup is cheaper than even the online box shifters . I do this because I want to provide a genuine alternative to factory fitted pickups in guitars which are often the "after thought" in production because frankly it often is in peoples buying decisions too. However the Matrix is stunning quality and does justice to the value of the guitar. Hope that helps!
when it comes to electro acoustics Why do you need a different amp other than a electric guitar amp ? If the the acoustic is an a electro acoustic surely it can be played thro a electric guitar amp ... When the first electro acoustic was built was it ever tested thro a EGA ??? Had to have been because there was no acoustic amps ...
Thanks Richard! This is the most helpful video I’ve seen so far on youtube regarding this topic. Just know that when I buy my first proper acoustic guitar here in South Africa, that your opinion will help me a lot! Cheers Kind Regards Johann
Bless you. Thanks so much and so pleased it helped you. I know you wont be able to buy from me but feel free to click on my live chat on my site if you need some advice.
500 dollars on a frickin guitar??? No thanks bruh. I get fender with pickups which sounds awesome and cost 250 dollars. Mahogany back sides, mahogany neck, solid top, pre amps, sounds great. What else could i ask for. Anyways choose carefully everyone
Don't see what the issue is with having a budget of between £500 to £1000. Surely once you have explained the pros and cons of the guitars in that price range, shown him by way of example, the customer can then make an imformed decision based on the look , feel and sound of the guitar he prefers.
Richards Guitars can you name a piezo solution that outputs something that sounds like how an acoustic guitar actually sounds and not...a...piezo-based electro-acoustic? I guess you could say that’s the (major) compromise you must make to avoid feedback issues playing live.
@@deldia Hi. Well it's a video is about choosing your perfect electro acoustic and your top tip was never a piezo based system which discounts pretty much every electro acoustic guitar I could recommend as they are all piezo driven. So I just wanted you to suggest your own alternatives otherwise viewers reading your comments will think I am misguided with my recommendations
@@RichardsGuitarshop Hi, it was interesting when you picked up the Faith parlour and suggested fitting a Fishman matrix system to electrify it for performance use - I share wikichris' dislike for piezo and was wondering if you could suggest any soundhole pickup options - I use a Fishman Neo-D in my Gretsch Jim Dandy and a Seymour Woody in my old laminate dreadnought - these are both pretty good budget options IMHO but it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on soundhole pickups vs piezo...
Rambling? 265 so far would say it was useful or they wouldnt give it a thumbs up whereas 14 people have taken offense by the video and thumbed it down. One mans rambling is another mans helping hand.
Don’t be so rude . If you think there’s to much talking (rambling you call it)then you are prob just watching the video already with the knowledge you need to know. How ever someone who is not experienced in electro acoustics would cherish the extra details.
Avoid Taylors sound beautiful until they break, my taylor is less than 2 years old and it cracked. Here is the video ruclips.net/video/38-9G21wjRs/видео.html
Its very difficult to talk while playing and the noise of the guitar drowns out my voice. Lots of RUclips videos where you can watch people playing but the video was for advice which is very hard to give through the voice of guitar.
Main thing we want is to hear what the guitars sound like. Cos guess what, that's what guitars are for ! Play something on one. Then play same thing on other guitar into same amp straightaway with same settings. That's what really matters to any serious guitarist.
this is why we all have 10 guitars....
Hahahahahaha truth
Look at this guy honesty ❤

I've watched this video twice now, yeah I need a life, lol but you're a true breath of fresh air Richard and I learn so much from your videos; this one is particularly useful.
TO add on top of that, its not only about guitar itself, the music, but its about enjoyment, responsibilities, and enjoy that guitar truly.
Honest, professional, and great advice, not only the guitar but also your thinking towards this particualr guitar, its great. thank you
Great video Richard, wish you were around doing this 30 years ago, would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

Totally agree with mossy its defo the Yamaha APX/CPX they are boss and pimps to play but I do take your very good points

Can anyone tell me the name of the first and second guitars, or could he please add it in the description?

What about feedback buster sound hole plugs?

Rich is a one-off. Can you afford to go anywhere else?
Phil O'Rourke Bless you Phil. That is really kind of you to say.
