About Revali, I recently saw a video about how his character was changed in the localization. Like here by 6:10 Revali doesn’t call Link pathetic in the original Japanese version.
    Here’s the video, btw:

About the part about the King telling Link that he’s Zelda’s Knight. That part in particular does make some sense, to me.
When Link saw that the King was in danger nearby from a Guardian Link instantly thought to rush and help him instead of fleeing the castle with Zelda.
But the King quickly reminds him what he should actually be doing. His job/duty of protecting the Princess, not the King, and bringing her to safety by fleeing the danger zone post haste should be his top priority.
Link, realizing the King is basically telling him to leave him behind (to possibly die) and to take his charge Zelda (who is more important) to safety, then does just that.
Dragging a reluctant Zelda behind him and away from what they both assumed was the King’s last stand, holding off the enemy and giving the two more time to escape.
    (Apologies for my long explanation…)

Regarding to the “true prequel” false advertisment part,
I have a sent a friend of mine a lengthy message on how Koei Tecmo should’ve handled it.
(The message is VERY dated, things may need to be revised)
This is just my opinion though haha.
    *It reads:*
I am not yet a LoZ fan nor I own AoC, but I am confident with my knowledge from watching all cutscenes in AoC and a bit from playing BotW.
Another thing to note is I grew up on Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors 8, so I'll be taking my ideas from that game.
Age of Calamity's story is an alternate universe take of what happened 100 years before BotW.
It is advertised to be a "true prequel" when in fact, it is not, it's an alternative universe where they defeated Ganon the moment it surfaced, with time travel shenanigans.
People are mad by this, but I have thought of a workaround that Koei Tecmo should've used that would have both the current shenanigans and would give the people the "true prequel" they should've been given.
Funny enough this workaround is found within their own game, Dynasty Warriors 8.
In DW8, there is a thing in the story timeline called "historical route" and "hypothetical route".
    The words speak for themselves.
What DW8 did is if you fail to do certain tasks and save certain people from their death in battles they're destined to die in, the game will lead you to the historical route, but if you did do the tasks and save the certain people, you'll unlock the hypothetical path.
(e.g. in DW8 Wu Kingdom, you have to prevent Sun Jian, Sun Ce, Zhou Yu & Lu Su from dying their historical deaths to unlock hypothetical route by doing special tasks and collecting all stars, hence there are videos on YT called "star guides")
Note: These special tasks are *not easy*
So if I were to apply this context to AoC, let me focus on Vah Ruta cuz that's easier for me to say. If you were to fail on doing the special tasks that would unlock the hypothetical route leading to Mipha being stuck in Vah Ruta, she will die there and Sidon won't come, and that is the historical route.
But if you successfully did the special tasks that led to egg teleporting Sidon to Vah Ruta with Mipha, that slowly unlocks the hypothetical route for the game.
Now apply that for the three other divine beasts, and if you've successfully saved *all four of them,* you will unlock the true hypothetical route that is the current ending of AoC.
Fail to save all four or at least 1 of the champions & their divine beasts, then you will unlock the true historical route where you can see the demise all of Hyrule, you can see the champions die one by one and you will see how Link gets killed and transported to the temple of ressurection, and lastly you'll see Zelda trapping Ganon on her own. That's the beginning of BotW. That's the true prequel.
Not only would they deliver a true prequel, they would also deliver a hypothetical route only to be unlocked *through sheer hardwork in completing all of the special tasks,* by making the task this hard would then give the hypothetical ending enough satisfaction in seeing them alive.
This is what I've wished Koei Tecmo should have done, because they've done it before on DW8, why can't they do it on AoC?

    • @crustbound
      @crustbound 2 года назад +1

Honestly the idea of a historical and hypothetical route is such a "why wouldnt you" idea. Very surprised they didnt do that as it would have literally pleased *everyone*

@@crustbound I can agree it is contradictory to the BotW themes, but mostly because a lot of themes in BotW have to deal with defeat and dealing with the failure that comes from defeat, whereas this is a theme of second chances, to try again and achieve victory. The victory of this game is contradictory to BotW and its defeat.

Why though? That's so lazy, and the old time split was never explained either, how did it end? Why? nobody knows, it just magically did, and after that whole disaster you decide to create ANOTHER ONE? there is no defending the plot of AoC
Also the fact that the prequel to BOTW effectively erases BOTW and relegates it to an alternative timeline is insulting

If I'm being real I kind of liked it, I can see why it might be disappointing and I do think a direct no nonsense prequel to Breath of the Wild that is Cannon would have been much better than the weird thing that we got. But I like the aubserdity of it and how ridiculous it can get sometimes with the combat. Like Impa summoning a giant frog to crush enemies as part of her moveset is hilarious. It can do all of this crazy stuff because its non cannon. But I understand and agree with a lot of your criticisms to be honest.

With everyone knowing how it ends to tell THE perfect Pre Story to Botw and they fumbled it so unbelievably hard... i shut down the game when this Time Traveling nonsense started. Boy i was so mad, i wanted a Game where i fight a unwinnable fight and fail at the end. A fitting Set Up to the Phenomenal Main Game.... god i hate them so much for fucking this up.
