    Wrex is one of my (MANY) favorite characters in this series. That whole scene on Virmire was so freaking intense, that I remember holding my breath I was so focused on the scene unfolding. Felt so relieved at the end when he chose to side with Shephard.
    In a way, though, the paragon path in Mass Effect 3 where you help him on his home planet kind of brought everything home for me when it came to Wrex. This once surly mercenary becomes the leader of the most successful tribe on his home world, and he becomes a total bro with Shephard. Love this series so much.

    • @honourablerogue
      @honourablerogue  3 года назад +7

      Hello! Thanks for your query - basically, at that time in my first playthrough of the Remastered ME1, I had done LOADS of side content, getting it all out of the way and pretty much left Virmire for last, as I did it just before the Ilos mission. Therefore, my Paragon bar was maxed out, and my Charm points were the same - maxed out, as I am currently playing through the trilogy as a full-on, consistently heroic Paragon.
      It’s funny because I actually remember it a little differently in the original version too - the ‘coloured’, speech check dialogue options were there for me but here in the remaster that Paragon option (the one that seemed to calm him down at the end) wasn’t blue, or anything. Did they perhaps change it up a bit? It’s quite interesting.
      I always did this via the speech check, where you’d need (I think) at least 8 points invested into either the Charm or Intimidate skills, since I always loved to spec into those to make certain dialogue scenes more fleshed-out. This one certainly included.
      One more requisite actually - before this mission, I had actually retrieved Wrex’s family armour beforehand, wayyyy back into the early hours of my playthrough. It’s fairly easy to miss this mission, but I LITERALLY just encountered his armour out of the blue in this playthrough, which was kinda hilarious. 😅😂
      I hope that answers your question friend!

      This I DIDN’T know, haha, thank you for dropping that info.
      I guess you’ll know if you get that ‘guarantee’ when Wrex says, “hell, you’ve done more for me than my family ever did”, which was a bit of a hint towards the retrieval of his family armour I think.

    I love Wrex but krogan expansion will be a problem.someone will overthrow him and make their own rules. Even wrex wanted ten or more planets. I think sympathy is blinding us against the truth. They will recover from reaper threat so fast. Noone will be there to stop them afterwards.

    • @UrdnotRed
      @UrdnotRed 2 года назад +8

      Because of Wrex's capacity for diplomacy (which he's used already multiple times, unlike Wreav), along with the efforts and level head of Bakara, he will have the support of the Turians, Asari, Humans, and many Salarians to prevent that from happening. Tuchanka is a radioactive wasteland, and the Shroud's been destroyed. It's uninhabitable, and they need a new home in order to so survive past the cure long enough to have children of their own.

    • @ladyselin35
      @ladyselin35 2 года назад +1

      @@UrdnotRed Homes. Then more homes. We need a "Lebensraum" a field of life. A fertile krogan female can lay 1000 eggs per year. There are millions of fertile females. When you listen Wrex he fought with his father not because he was against the war. He said they needed at least one generation to renew their numbers. Guess in future Rachni will be used to stop Krogan expansion.

    • @UrdnotRed
      @UrdnotRed 2 года назад

      @@ladyselin35 Once again, you're forgetting a key element here: Bakara. She's the stabilizing agent who leads and corrals the females. If you've heard the interactions she's had in regards to Wreav's plans for war, then you know what she would say about the idea of war. If Wrex or anyone else got the idea of war and insisted on fighting another senseless one, she and the other females would stop having children altogether. The females refuse to let new generations perish just because some males got it in their heads that they needed to go to war. Because the females will be an instrumental and indispensable part of Krogan stability, they will have a say in whatever happens from then on. The only way that war becomes an option is if Bakara dies from curing the genophage, and either Wreav is in power or Wrex is overthrown.
      And another thing, when talking to Wrex about his father, he says "We need to forget about war and focus on breeding" because they'd already been hit with the genophage and were starting to die out. He also said "But he was old, and so were his ideals" which one could infer meant thay Wrex didn't believe in fighting a senseless war anyway. That's the whole reason they were going to die out in the first place - war. War lead to the genophage, so any thoughts of war after the genophage is cured would most likely be nipped in the bud. The Krogan with half a grain of sense, like Wrex and those who followed his lead early on, would know exactly what would happen if they tried war again. Something worse than the genophage.
      In the end, the only way to save the Krogan is to restore their ancient society that wasn't interested in war, but rather a future for their children (as Bakara had mentioned on the Tomkah ride to the Shroud in ME3). This ancient society was lead by both male and female Krogan, restoring the family unit that was integral to their stability in the beginning. The only way that's possible is allowing a stabilizing agent, which would be leaders uninterested in war: Wrex and Bakara. Clan Urdnot is in power, and any clan that Clan Urdnot deems unwelcome is ultimately destroyed by its allies. As long as Clan Urdnot rules, there will be peace, but only if the clan chief is Wrex and the females are reintegrated into their society. If you save the Krogan, you see them flourish in a more peaceful way. They rebuild their homes, their golden spires, and most importantly, their families. With time and effort put forward by those who saw the long term results of an era of peace, they are able to fight against their base instinct to fight everything (which had been ingrained in them by living on Tuchanka) and instead build their future.
      That's the difference between post-war Krogan and the Krogan that follow Wrex. "Many clans like what I'm doing here" is what Wrex says in ME2. It's unfair to automatically screw over an entire species because of what "might" happen. That's why so many Salarians hated the judgement of the Dalatrass and went their own way in supporting Commander Shepard to save the Krogan. Mordin Solus, Padok Wiks, and (though misguided in his methods) Maelon Heplorn were just a few of them. Kirahae also assisted in helping Shepard.
      The Krogan are a complex and diverse people. Brainless brutes, many are, but you can't force an entire people to extinct because of a few idiots. That's what separates the Krogan from, say, the Batarians. (I can explain that further, but I'd need a word document lol).

    • @lloron6
      @lloron6 Год назад +6

      No not really. Like mordin said once. Krogans were not culturally ready to spaceflight, it was almost predictable that they would rise arrogant in the aftermath of the rachni war and become a problem.
      But thousands of years have passed from that, most krogans have learned to live among other species and with wrex and Bakara, in time the rest of the krogans will be forced to learn to truly coexist like one specie with the rest.

    • @lloron6
      @lloron6 Год назад +3

      @@UrdnotRed You failed to understand the endings of ME3.
      So what that the shroud was destroyed and that Tuchanka is radioactive?
      Tuchanka was already radioactive before Krogans met the Salarians and still survived living there. And the Shroud can be built again, hell they can even built multiple of them again if it comes to that. So none of that makes Tuchanka unhabitable, just a terrible place to live, and after ME3 is fixed.

      Dude, say you were part of a race that had a "sterility plague" and there was a cure, but your friend wanted to destroy it. The fate of your entire people depends on it, but your friend suggests that you should be mad at the one developing this cure. Even if they did something nice for you, it'd come across as the friend saying they don't care what direction your race goes if they die out.
      It's only until Shepard points out that these Krogan are just Saren's genetically cloned slaves that Wrex realizes that destroying this cure is for the better.

      That's just good old fashioned Krogan hot air. If it were real, we'd be dead. But it wasn't, which is why he didn't shoot automatically. He was weighing our response to this, someone he trusts and considers a friend, vs the future of his people. If we turn our back on his people, he'd only see it as turning our back on him like every other species in the galaxy had already done.

      They're literally talking about destroying something that could literally save his entire species of course he is a little bit pissed. He doesn't want to join saran and he definitely recognizes that the cure Could be dangerous if used To create a krogan army. But destroying the cure shouldn't have been the answer. I mean seriously you fight your way through all of these labs anyways why can't you 1st download all the research data that are on the computers then destroy the facility. This way you can use that cure to facilitate a proper way for the krogan to be restored. Just like we're giving the option in mass effect 3 they could have done this same thing way earlier. If they just took a little bit of time to download the data in mass effect one for the cure
