Putting on test the Liqui Moly Hydraulic Lifter Additive - does it really reduce lifter noise?
Is there a change after driving with it 1000 km - • Liqui Moly Hydraulic L...
Good day and hello
Liqui Moly Hydro Piston Additive takes time to take effect. It has a cleaning effect for the small fine bores - oil channels and until the deposits have been removed. Please repeat the db A noise test after approx. 500-1000 km
Thank you!
I’m not sure if Measuring DB is a good test. The tapping noise is an additional noise but not necessarily a louder noise
Exactly. If you add the LM, wait about 200-300 miles, you should notice a reduction in ticking.
Anyone else hold their breath and not make a noise when he took a sound reading?
X2
Lol
So you tested an oil additive 20 minutes after you poured it?
this is a great topic, VERY often overlooked and rarely mentioned: 🤓 The hydraulic lifters OFTEN clog and cause all kinds of engine fault codes, NONE of these codes actually mention to check the hydraulic lifters, they always "blame" another part. hence you end up replacing alot of parts which are still good without getting to the root cause. Try HYDRAULIC LIFTER CLEANING FLUID first, this stuff is meant to do just that, and it often really works! this is the simplest fix for your engine, and you can't really hurt the engine with cleaner lifters, can you? even if there is another fault as well, this stuff is like vitamins for the engine!
For anyone wondering if this works, add it when you do an oil change and wait a couple of 100kms before deciding.
Hydrolic lifter and tappet fix products need time (running time) to work.
They essentially work by cleaning the lifters, breaking down varnish and gunked up oil.
You won't notice a difference right after adding it to the oil.
If your hydrolic lifters only tick when the engine is cold and stop 20 to 30 seconds or so after starting the ca then this is worth trying.
Hello can you guide me how to use it?
Should i use it in the same day that I change oil on or it’s okay if can use it after 3 to 4 days after i change oil?
because I want change oil today and the order didn’t come yet.
@@muradhussen7080It's fine to add it at any point.
In addition, it makes a big difference whether the Liqui Moly Hydro tappet additive is used in a gasoline or diesel engine. The gasoline engine runs quieter overall and a hydraulic valve lifter noise is much more significant.
If the hydraulic tappets were completely defective, the additive would no longer have any effect.
It would also be interesting if you had done a cold start before using the additive and once after, because hydro tappets like to make noises in the cold engine and these are well damped by the additive.
Thanks for the info. Will do a second sound level test after some time.
Worked magical after 50km
You shouldn't place the sound meter on the engine. Also the results are not immediate.
you need to drive the cars for minimum 20, 30 km to work
300 km.... Minimum
So far so good. I poured the can in once the engine was warm, afterwards I drove it for 20 min and the ticking noise was gone. It came back the next day but as soon as I rolled it out of the garage it went way. Came back a few days later after a series of short drives so I engaged sport mode to give it some good revs and it went away again. I really need to take it out for a good Italian tune up.
It’s not dirtying it self again, your lifter or lifters are probably worn out and when the engine warms up, the metals expand and that’s why the noise goes away shortly after you start it up. Same thing happens in mine, very loud lifter noise upon cold start and once the engine warms up the noise almost completely goes away
@@excaliburmc1717 what did you do? Did you change the lifters?
This works wonders in hemi engines for the hemi tick
Does it because i have that tick on my 6.1 hemi
@@donsavage5152 did for me. I have a 2006 jeep srt with 141k on it. Put liqui moly oil in it and the additive and no issues
I need this then. My 2006 Ram SRT-10 has the tick. Glad to know 👍
@@whiteboyduke5446 shouldn't tick bad? It's not a hemi it's a v10 will work
@Chris Van did you add the liqui moly as a replacement for one quart of oil or just add it to your oil?
I have a lifter ticking noise in my 98 Mercedes SL500. Noise started at about 165,000 miles. I changed the oil and added two bottles of Rislone engine additive. Ticking noise did not go away. Noise is random and after driving on the freeway noise goes away then comes back. I drove the car for about 3000 miles. I did a Liqui moly engine flush used two cans and changed the oil with Mobil 1-synthetic 10W 30 which I've used since I bought the car and added two cans of Liqui moly lifter additive. The ticking noise went away and came back and has gone away again. It seems to be going away but eventually comes back. I've put about 60 miles on the car so far since the engine flush and oil change. Wish me luck.
Hope it helps you, mate :)
I flushed the crankcase with liquimoly engine flush and added two cans of liquimoly lifter additive and topped off with Mobil One synthetic 10W/30. No luck the lifter tick goes away but comes back when in traffic. Ordered a set of lifters and will be replacing next week.
@@maxxsteele11 Sorry to hear that. Pls update us here if there is an improvement
@@maxxsteele11 any news about the problem?
@@ドリアンDorian I replaced the 16 lifters on the left bank. The ticking seems to have gone away so I thought. The ticking seems more random and less frequent though. I brought the old lifters home and they have very little wear and seem to be in good condition. I will be meeting with my mechanic after the holidays.
I found the flushing the system, running it a bit hard for about 50 miles really spread the LM around. I have not had an oil change without it.
Side note: I do have to add oil a bit more often with using this product, but oil burn appears to be something that plagues this engine (2012 Acura TL-SH AWD).
But it is a different performing and running car with the LM.
Hi, Are you saying that you put the LM cleaning additive in your cars oil, then ran your car hard for 50 miles, then changed the oil, as opposed to adding the LM cleaning additive, running your car in neutral to idle for 15 minutes, then changing the oil as the LM directions say to do?
@@hitzoneproductions7858 which one is correct ?
@@kevinglainez8151 The option the dictionary says to do
Two bottles were needed for the noise ....with the engine running ...it is thick and remains at the bottom of the oil bath
It's a simple oil thickener
3.years later first time seeing December 6 2023
Next time..after idle rev it up to 3000rpm and hold it there for 2min and sometime you dont even need aditives for that..
I think it takes a hundred kilometers for the product to work properly! One that works well is the Bardahl hydraulic lifters!!
I have used it, lifter noise went away around 400-500 miles after adding the additive.
good if you have a ford escort CvH engine
Suitable for a turbo diesel car?
Yes its suitable.
Did you remove any oil?
My 13 Edge 3.5 ticks like crazy. Roughly 78,000 miles. No issues with the engine, drives good but the tick when it warms up drives me nuts. Goes away after 1400 rpms while driving or just revving it up. Could this work?
You could try it. It won't hurt the engine.
How about the update? My '10 cruze LT hydraulic lifter sounds so bad too
My crossfire is the same. I took it to a mechanic they said its fine.
The product needs time to do its work. 10 minutes is for sure not enough. Try 3-4 weeks.
you need to drive it for a few miles before you hear the difference
My engine has a capacity of 6.5 liters of oil and it is full. Does it have to be 6.2 to be able to use the addon
Nope. The engine wont even feel those 300ml
It says the 300ml is good for 6liters of oil. If my car has like 3liters of oil in it i should only pour 150ml in the engine right?
It won't be a problem if you pour in the whole content.
OPEL...
REALITY IS NOT WORKING!! THE SOUND IS NOTICEABLE FROM VIDEO
Do you recommend the plugin?
On mine I didn't notice any difference.
What are you trying to reduce with that stuff? That engine sounds healthy and not like it has lifter issues... More likely, that additive package is causing more trouble than any potential good it could do..
use diesel. 2liter diesel and 2 liter oil put togethor in ennjin
onother type. use atf fluid 1 liter and rnjin oil 4 liter. run 5000km n change the oil
Does it help?
Well, I think not.
not working, for sure!
Is this a Diesel engine?
Yep, 1.9 CDTI
Work full before 3 days!!!
Result After 500km!!!!
this test is stupid! it takes time for it to cycle lol wtf is this 🤣🤣🤣
Its only in your favor to read descriptions and not say the first that comes to your mouth :)
What's your accent, mate?
Bulgarian :)
Stayed noisy as shit
Fix your tappet clearances first.
:D :D Those are hydraulic tappets. No need to adjust.
@@icku So... then, drive it properly. REV IT UP, WOT, top speed...
Snake Oil, followed the instructions to the "T", no better, if not louder.....Don't waste you money!!!
If the hydraulic lifters are seized, there is no hope for an additive to free them. This is for minor lifter issues.
Congratulations, you just thickened your engine oil to molasses.
this stuff has no effect on the viscosity of the oil, it just looks thick when undiluted.
Useless review
We are all waiting for useful one from you 😂
