I just assembled my Napoleon rogue 525 this evening. It was my Christmas gift. This wasn’t very helpful as a review. Not even cooked with. For anyone reading. Here’s my review. The heat diffusing plates over the burners are a bit thin. They get red hot. The top magnet holding the doors closed shouldn’t be in the drip pan. They should be on the frame itself. The casters are a bit small for backyard maneuvering. Now for the pros. Beautiful grill. Nice thick grills. Excellent heat retention. Gets up to grilling temp quick. Somewhat simple to assemble. Well and I mean well packed for shipping. I’m very happy with my Napoleon so far.
Yes, it was a review of the features. Since Napoleon gave me this BBQ I tried to do as much social media with it as possible. A few years later and this grill is still working like new. Now would be the time that I should do a full review! Thanks for watching regardless.
cool bbq, I just bought it myself... I'm afraid the review wasn't much of a review but more of an unboxing, I was hoping to see it in use and what you thought about it.
Yeah it was more a feature review. I haven’t used it a lot because I’m a charcoal guy, but so far it’s been really great! I find it easy to keep a consistent temperature.
They sell a cast iron griddle insert too. Pop out the grate and place in the griddle. I bet they leave the back open incase there is a propane leak with the tank.
nick540 I always like to have a side burner but never seem to use it! I’d love the charcoal insert for this thing so that I’d use it more. But I love how it lights and was able to hold a temp of 250°F quite easily.
Desperate to know the width of this not including the side shelves removed. I want to purchase this and put it in a built in wall. I can't find the dimensions of it without the shelves. Any help is appreciated
Can you tell me how wide the BBQ is without the side panels? I have an outdoor kitchen and want to slide it into the area and swap out my old bbq. Thanks man!
I’ll have to grab some propane and fire it up! But that’s an excellent vid idea. I never bothered with the charcoal pan. It just doesn’t make sense to me when my other BBQ is a Weber kettle. I haven’t heard anything mind blowing about it but there are likely cheaper methods, like a tinfoil tray, to do the same in the Napoleon. I’d likely try one out if I ever came across one though.
@@TRDoutdoors Can do both? I would like to see steaks cooked on both. That searing side griddle thing with a cast iron plate on the side burner on the Napoleon looks like you can do some serious steaks on that. I'd like to see how each comes out since you know how to cook on each.
@@dougmatkins my model doesn’t have the sizzle zone but I’ll see what I can do. We don’t eat a lot of red meat anymore so it could be a while. I do have some pork chops though!!
@@TRDoutdoors mmm...tell Napoleon you need the current model with the side burner sizzle zone. Prospective buyers want to see it! Bone in pork chops work just as well!
That makes perfect sense! I never thought of that. Thank you for pointing it out. I hope you enjoy the new grill!!! I think it’s a lot of value for the price.
Very nice unit!! Yes, they should have included the charcoal pan to be included in your review! I'm glad that someone is getting some free stuff!! Keep it up!
KickDrumKid23 as I mentioned in the video, I hadn’t had the chance to try it at that point. I had just finished assembly and did a review on the features. Check out my bacon stuffed video if you want to see it cook! I have used it twice so far so haven’t really gained a lot of experience with it.
In regards to a gas grill, I cook primarily with charcoal, it lights without effort, it maintains a temp really well, has a large cooking area with even heat distribution. Later this summer I will have a better review of my cooking experience. Napoleon sent me this unit a month ago and I haven’t had a lot of time to use it.
In my research in to this grill I have discovered that the older rogue model had a double walled lid and a larger panel on the back of the cart to enclose it more. I think they have removed these items to keep the cost affordable on this model. I believe the XT model still comes with a double walled lid.
@@justchilling5448 The entirely stainless steal XTs do come with a double walled lid indeed, but only so to prevent discolouration of the steel on the lid.
Robert Maldonado I’m not sure. It is the lower end series, I think I’ve seen some of the pro models with something like that. Another reason I prefer charcoal, bags are easy to look in😁
@@TRDoutdoors Used to grill w/charcoal, tried a gas grill and loved it. Just easier to use and control heat, imo. Just bought a Napoleon 500 Prestige, gets delivered next week, stoked to try it out.
Robert Maldonado I’ve read a lot of comments about people being absolutely impressed with that model of Napoleon! Happy grilling. I promise to get more videos up soon!
It was mentioned in another comment that it prevents a gas leak from building up in the cabinet area from the propane tank. Maybe it’s possible that natural gas models have the extra panel?
@@TRDoutdoors Wrong! Propane is heavier than air so it would flow out the bottom if there is a leak. It's simply a way to save money on manufacturing. Not a deal breaker but it would have been nice to have it enclosed. PS rats and mice can get into extremely small spaces. Maybe a small dog could get in there though. LOL
@@Renrondog that makes more sense. I’m in natural gas pipeline construction and know little about propane! I even prefer grilling with charcoal! The mice love my pizza oven though.
The Rogue series is made in China. If you want a better grille that lasts longer, made in Canada using higher grade stainless steel, get the Prestige series.
theoldyellr I have to agree. I primarily use my Weber kettle and wasn’t looking for a new LP bbq, but when Napoleon said they were sending me one I was excited. And you are absolutely right, once you cook on something of this calibre, you won’t buy cheap anymore!
theoldyellr food is just so much better on a bbq. I don’t have an exhaust fan over my stove in this old house so I try to do as much as I can outdoors.
I just bought the 425 XT SIB... so far not impressed for the money. Seems under powered and and has cold spots. How do you do a BBQ review and not cook anything?
This video was about the features of the 525. If you look at more of my videos you’ll see that I grill with charcoal. Napoleon sent me this BBQ to review. However the few times that I’ve used the 525 since then when I was in a hurry it has done an excellent job. I don’t have any experience with a 425.

Side shells are smal
You say caster wheels. Are they actually cast? They look like cheap office chair wheels.
Chad Whittaker no it’s the design type, they are not cast. They are a heavy plastic material. I wouldn’t say cheap though.
Also, they are wonderful on smooth surfaces, but horrible on gravel.
