UW Husky here. The Pac12 NEEDS USC to be elite again. Historically they are the ONLY elite Pac12 team. Wishing USC well except when you guys play UW. Hope you guys kick the Chipster and let him know who owns LA.

The pac 12 is the most garbage conference everyone talks about breaking up the big 12 but in all reality nobody wants to play for the pac y’all recruiting numbers are garbage and the only thing y’all had going was Oregon when the facilities were cool now that all the sec and pretty much all the big 10 and 12 have facilities that can only rival each other nobody even bats an eye at the pac 12
Meh. USC went 11-3, but they lost against the two best teams they played, and they didn't just lose, they got absolutely humiliated. ND ran them into the dirt 49-14 and Ohio State suffocated them 24-7.

The PAC 12 has gotta be the most compelling overall conference in the fbs right now. You have Washington and Washington State in a better state than either program has been for 20+ years. Oregon finally seems to be rising from the Chip Kelly ashes. Stanford has been consistently competitive since Jim Harbaugh revitalized an embarrassing program. Arizona has an exciting stud at qb and ASU somehow ended up with Herm Edwards as their head coach. USC has returned to prominence for the first time in years, and their rivals in Pasadena just hired Chip Kelly. Great time to live on the west coast for some PAC 12 After Dark!

Odd as it may seem, although hiring Lane Kiffin was a mistake, firing him was a bigger mistake. If Kiffin had been the coach up to the present time the USC record would be at least 5 games better and maybe ten games better (through avoiding the coaching chaos of 4 coaches in 3 yrs). Do the math and his record might be 83-22. Not bad for someone only in his early 40s as most coaches don't reach their peak until fifty yrs old. But Clay Helton will succeed. Sam Darnold made him a smarter coach and JT Daniels may make him a bloody genius.

Part of what helped USC to come, was the downfall of Oregon. And u made a video on that
USCs bowl ban was the reason Oregon was able to get all the top recruits from california. once the ban ended, USC started getting those top recruits back which is why oregon became mediocre again. so you should actually be saying the opposite

Yeah, if this was a story about the "comeback" of USC, it did a very poor job at convincing me. I mean, how can you tell if USC is back or it was Sam Darnold that made a broken team look above Semi-elite. Now that Sam is gone, can this coach turn this from a team that plays pretty good, to a team that will be competing in the College Playoffs?
This isn't as much as a "comeback" story as much as a "USC is moving in the right direction, but can they sustain it like an Ohio State/Alabama/Oklahoma/Ect. Texas can be an example of good recruiting doesn't lead to success and you mention many times on your channel that many programs start to fall apart when a QB leaves. But I guess we will see this season if USC can keep it togeather.

I disagree that USC is “back”. After Pete Carroll left for Seattle they have never reached the pinnacle that they were at before and it’s just been year after year of playoff expectations followed by disappointment after they lose 2 games they shouldn’t.
That's our main gripe with Clay Helton & the Coaching Staff...you know despite the sanctions,Lane Kiffin & Steve Sarksian were still pulling in Top Recruits. Since Helton has taken over, he's continuing that trend. pulling in 4 & 5 star recruits,very talented though underrated 2 & 3 star guys & top juco transfers(Top-10 class in 2016', & back-to-back Top-5 classes in 2017' & 2018').So the talent is there but whenever they play teams with great recruiting classes also... they get smoked. 52-6 vs. Alabama,49-14 vs. Notre Dame, 24-7 vs. Ohio State etc.
But Helton has also done alot of good as well. Since taking the helm at USC as interim & then HC in 2015', USC is Undefeated at Home in the Coliseum,had a 14-game winning streak from 2016'-2017',back to back 10+win seasons, back to back New Year Six Bowl game appearances,2 division titles,2017' Pac-12 Champions,2016'/2017' Rose Bowl Champions. & alot of those haven't happened since the Pete Carroll days. Clay Helton is a football coach & all he wants to be is a great football coach & that's what USC needed when he was hired. I hope he can get SC to where they need to be & be considered as one of the all time great coaches at USC!! ✌

Now he is starting to fill the team with players that fit his ideals and the system he and his coaches want to implement. Clay is just getting started the fandom just has to be patient!!!
I don't think Clay Helton is the flashiest coach for Hollywood & L.A but he's doing it right. I wouldn't say USC is back just yet. Remember this is a prestigious & proud program with National championships, Heisman trophy winners, & putting talent into the NFL. One thing we know for sure is USC has always recruited at a high level, and with the NCAA uplifting the scholarship band on USC's football program. Depth shouldn't be a issue. You gotta like the direction Clay Helton & his staff have Southern Cal on. With that being said USC will be back no doubt!..
They aren’t at the level that they were yet. I think the conference should still belong to the winner of Washington/Stanford, but USC has the most talent of any team in the conference every year so it’s time for Helton to prove that the last couple years weren’t just a product of Sam Darnold.

Norm chow!! We need him back and rid of T Martin what a mediocre offense coach. I agree the bogus ruling from NCAA who is a corrupt institution. I think Helton is a great role model but his coaching skills are just good and won’t take SC to be an elite team. Aside from darnold, the offense stars in those two years played the lights out.

It’s sad to say man I met Helton at a football coaches clinic he’s a great guy has great command of team but no matter how well the Trojans do from here on out he’s gone because the media throwing the urban Meyer potential hire out there and he hasn’t really formally turned down the idea, so fight on but it’s messed up. Coach Helton hopefully I’m wrong but you deserve better then the treatment you have gotten and I know where ever you end up will have a solid coach and good person.

you know its crazy watching a video like this because I remember all of this happening and it was crazy. I am 16 and dont really remember Pete Caroll that well but I sure as hell remember how much I hated Laine Kiffin. All I saw at games were stickers and posters of fire kiffin and when he got canned it was like christmas. Coach O was one of my favorites and I was sad to see him go but Sark was an asshole and I remember going to the game before he got fired and then when Helton took over and then when SC won the rose bowl the program was really on the rise and as a season ticket holder who has watched USC football my whole life its awesome to see videos like this
