I look at wrestling from my day and modern wrestling and Im STILL convinced that guys like Monday, Schultz (both) and a few others could have torn some of todays names up. (Jordon Burroughs)
@@brizwaldjonson it sure is. I remember it being FAR more physical than it is today. It looks like 2 guys jumping around trying NOT to lock up. It looks like they are trying NOT TO WRESTLE. Im not impressed.
I followed my hero, Dan Gable, in the late 60s & early 70s. What an incredible example of talent & tenacity! I was privileged to c him wrestle live 3 times. In his junior year @ Iowa State, including the NCAA tournament, there were only 2 opponents he did not pin. One he beat 12-2, the other 24-5.
Fresh brewed cup of whoop a** The book by Mark Schultz says the two brothers liked to deliver pain and got a reputation for a certain choke out hold. Refs started watching for it. Dave delivered Some pain to Monday’s knee. The book said that they looked at wrestling as combat against another man and it was showing you were tougher.
Mark at the 87’ LV Open choked out his opponent from the Japanese National team from a front headlock position-it was insane…dude just went to sleep for a few minutes and woke up p!ssed…couldn’t continue!
Actually, the better series was the best 2 of 3 between these two LEGENDS in 1987 that went to the rubber match. Please upload if u have it, the world deserves to witness what I believe to be one of the greatest Best of 3 in history along w the Brands/Cross series in 1996.
kenny was so so bad ! i got some matches of monday koll urbano guira pantaleo smith baumgartner vanni eiter in storage back in ny? Trying to get some funds to transfer them to digital world community should have this stuff any help would really be appreciated..?
Ironic that it was Monday and not Schultz who ended up getting involved in the early MMA scene. Schultz coulda have tapped more than few guys in his time.
We just had monday teach at our camp today, what a guy man
Isaac Badell-Riviere ICW🤼♂️💪
Edwin Martinez yeah brooooo
Both of these wrestlers were my heroes growing up. I was floored when B. Satiev beat Monday. Changing of the guard
Sariev was such an incrwdible wrestler. Dave would have been inpressed
Park Jan Soon also
@@RonnieD1970 Park Jan Soon was a monster in his own rights.
I’ve meet 3 of the best US wrestlers of all time, Kenny Monday, John Smith and Jordan Burroughs
2 great wrestlers. Enjoyed watching thanx for sharing.
That ref is my former coach-Coach Leroy Evans.
Damn...I need to pull up Kenny Monday videos. I know this was an exhibition, but are they the same weight here? Monday was a beast
0:12 want some syrup on that pancake? :)

+Shawn Brooks It was actually at :14 it used to be called a crossface pancake. The lat-drop esque toss that he applies.

The sport is different now.

Burroughs vs Monday would be interesting because it’s similar styles.

Schultz was a beast from top.
kenny monday is the truth
No
No idea why Monday is not more popular within the wrestling community. Not enough people know who he is.
@@cteproductionsofficial Olympic gold and silver medalist doesn't equal the truth?

oh and many more 89- 90
Oklahoma baby!
Buen combate... Monday tenia que recibir el trono. Aunque Shultz se la puso difícil al intentar recuperarse en la batalla moliendo a Kenny.
2:29 old school leg ride no good huh?
Ironic that it was Monday and not Schultz who ended up getting involved in the early MMA scene. Schultz coulda have tapped more than few guys in his time.
Kenny made Dave look like he was old
damn! schultz got floored
A serious ass-blistering.
Oh my god 00:12 is so nasty, you never see that anymore. What a level!!!!
0:14 shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
Too bad a great wrestler like Dave had to be portrayed by a common fa9 like Mark Ruffalo.
Exactly.
It's a no personality version of Dave.
That foot pull by Schultz that hurt Kenny's knee and back, looked kind of dirty.
honestly it looked no different than anytime ive seen that move hit, its always awful
That move sucks in general:/
It’s a bow and arrow. It’s legal and used often in collegiate
Watch the movie now that tells his story and his murder by that damned criminal John du Pont
Dave Shultz was a dirty wrestler but this day got used like a rag doll by a superior athlete.
Schultz had horrible foot work.
Don't you dare talk about the legend
SuperDriven1 I was surprised how bad this "legend" was in the first half
Shultz was a mat wrestler mostly
SuperDriven1 shut up ass wipe
SuperDriven1 that’s a legend your talkin too
