Presumably you need to use the solution that BMW have on the Z4 (assuming that has an exterior boot release) as the key interaction side is generally looked after by the keyless module. Issue with that is if you have a boot release then it will have an antenna in the vicinity of the boot to trigger the key for the passive function which you won't have. Simpler solution would be to piggyback the interior release button as that will be an interrupt input which would wake the body controller if it was asleep & should also be disabled when the vehicle is locked. Added benefit is that it will be a logic level input so you won't be trailing 12v feeds around. Or just use the remote button, it's really not that bad to do.
Interestingly enough, there is a rear antenna already in place. And yeah I think getting a Z4 button and integrating that is the way to go. Just need to figure out what available pin to use in the body control module and how to code it
The 3min thing would be a dealbreaker for me lol. Some guy here said what if you tapped into the door release button? I'm guessing that wouldn't work if the car was locked.
Sadly no, the door button needs the car to be unlocked and the key detected inside the car. I think with a little more digging I should be able to figure out a way to program the CANBUS system to make it work in a more secure manner.
Totally fair! I'm just trying to get whatever I can get done with the time I have. I'll have something more substantial for the next episode! Thank you for the feedback!
Won't matter.......The rear lock system is junk....mine broke the first 3 days trapping all my luggage.....the emergency strap was pulled inside and broke too. Supra----BMW problems with short Toyota warranty......not a good mix
I was going to comment that most Arduinos can do Can-bus. But then I realised BMW does not do Can-bus anymore, it's their stupid proprietary network. You might still be able to listen for a key in proximity signal, just not deobfuscate it to write, but would still be enough to get it to open if the key is in proximity.
I'm thinking the best option would be to find somebody with experience coding body functions on BMWs, then working with them to install an OEM trunk button into a specific CAN port and then just programming that CAN port to trigger in the OEM method. Honestly it's probably not too tough to do, just need to find somebody who knows their way around a BMW BCM/FEM.
@@albonfilms honestly, I'm surprised that nobody else thought to do this before. I'm definitely doing this to my Supra ASAP. Do you have a parts list for everything you used?
couldnt you have spliced it into your door controlls? so it basically functions the exact same way as the door button????? that way you dont have a stoopid 3m ish fuse countdown. but it just cant be opened when the alarm is on like you said how it worked when you tested it through the window. then unlocking en opening the trunk would be the same as you're doing right now, but being more secure???
Unfortunately no, I tried it, and the door button is completely immobilized unless the car is unlocked and the key is in the car. I mentioned it briefly but didn't show that process of trying it. Sadly with CANBUS systems, there's a lot of very specific flags that need to be set to make the buttons work.
All that work for a button! You have more dedication than I!
Haha its so annoying, I had to do something!
@@albonfilms Great project! You should be super stoked💪🏽
More dedicated than Toyota in all honesty!

channel has the quality of a 1m subscriber channel fosho
Appreciate that a lot! ❤️
once you're done are you going to paint it so all the panels match?
Yes I am! I'll be doing that very soon!
@@albonfilms what color will she be?
I'll be painting it factory grey for now, then hoping to wrap it an interesting color later!
It’s the little things that make us happy...
another great video.
It absolutely is. Thank you so much for watching!
Welcome back!
Thanks man! I'm feeling a bit better now so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things!
Waiting for this car to have Real Vents and mk4 wing....❤✌
I'll get there eventually!!
Maybe U can code central lock control unit with programs from bmw 2-series or 4-series, or mini hatch 🤔
Yes! This is what I will try to do going forward!

@@albonfilms Good luck with that, sounds complicated.
A pretty nice DIY that’s actually very useful
Thank you!! Funny enough it's the one mod that I genuinely am so proud of that I show it off to everyone hahaha
Love this video...first-time seeing your page..anyway you have a write up? Or a list on what you use...would love to do this to my supra
you can just code in the option to not open the trunk while locked and that will fix the issue of the time period of the accesory turn off time
The button makes that addictive click noise that makes you want to press repeatedly lol
Yesss!!! So clicky!
Lol now you need camera equipment insurance that covers theft
Haha that's probably a good idea
Any updates on this?
You mentioned fixing the buffeting problem but didn't address it...?
Is there a way to kill the fake engine noise through the speakers on the interior!
Yes! There is an ASD amplifier in the rear of the car that you can disconnect, or you can code it out with a coding software.
Was hoping for something more notable to mod then a switch
I’ll wait for the next vid

@@albonfilms thanks bro
Keep posting vids
They are extremely well edited 💪

If my friend can code his 435i to make rolls royce bings and bongs i believe you can make the button work
Haha I did the i8 bings and bings but sadly this one is still a little over my head
This was such a satisfying video
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!

@@albonfilms I couldn't agree more. I highly appreciate that you didn't take the DIY dodgy approach that most youtubers do to flex their none skills.
I feel like you would get more views if you put "DIY hatch button for A90 supra" in the title
Nice addition! I like it!
Thanks! Weird mod for sure but surprisingly a lot of Supra guys have asked about it lol
First like, then watch
❤️❤️❤️
This is huge
haha best mod for the A90 for sure!
