I'm always amazed at how Robbie comes out smelling like a Rose. He's been from the top to the bottom and just keeps coming back. Proud of the Man. A Real Racer
@G hrvyck doubtful. His heart was always in that type of racing. Robby Gordon was always an independent "my way" kind of guy. Probably didn't like the direction racing was going in, so he created his own. That's not the same as other series not wanting him
@G hrvyck you seem extremely angry...NASCAR didn't ban him, the sport overpriced itself for Robbys liking, its not a coincidence he left around 2012ish. Robby was an owner/driver. Unless nascar outright banned him, they didnt push him out lol. Relax, the main part of the conversation ended 4 months ago. Eat some pizza, take a nap, and play a sudoku or word search or something. It is a good stress reliever. Also that phrase, no idea what it means haha
well he's got 3 cup series wins, gotta be ball out racer for that stat... think of all the amazingly talented drivers to come to the cup series, and never get a win.
I always rooted for Robby Gordon in the cup series he was such a fun personality to root for and didn’t take anyone’s crap. Thanks for having him on Dale Jr.
amazing driver. He was just terrible in stock cars. And it wasn't the "equipment." Robby was billed as the best up-and-comer for NASCAR in the early 90s. Road courses and of-road were always more his style.
Have always been a fan .. I was with Tim Morton getting ready to race the Baja 1000 and we ended up having dinner with Robby and his team in San Filipe. Super nice guy and a permanent great memory for me !
@Elite Soulfly First off, they've all done something stupid on the track. People need to stop acting like every driver is perfect. They've all spun out on purpose to benefit them too. Secondly, getting upset about a debris caution that did not impact the championship that happened 14 years ago is ridiculous. Third, Dude lives and breathes racing. He's really nice to his fans too. I remember going to Menards as a kid when he was signing autographs. He took forever because he had a conversation with practically everyone that showed up. Guy could have had a hell of a NASCAR career if he wanted to, but he cared more about the freedom to do things his way. And not be stuck in some kind of hostage contract. I respect that
Regarding camera angles...; during the NASCAR break this spring, we watched "classic" races while waiting for NASCAR to return. The first thing that struck me with the old footage was how fast the actual speed of the cars was. I don;t know if the tv cameras were closer, or farther, from the track as they followed the cars, but in the old footage, the sense of speed is REAL. In the current footage, the camera angles are so focused on getting the cars into perfect "focus" that the cars don't actually appear to be moving that fast. Having attended a live race at Charlotte in '07, seeing how FAST the cars lap the track, for my own eyes, was unreal...! Not until I watched some of the older footage this spring did I again get a sense of that speed...!
@@JohnYenchick He's one of those Tony Stewart kind of drivers. I feel like had he had Gibb's equipment in the early 2000's he would of been more of a contender every race. That’s awesome Robby Gordon has become Uber successful in business a serious mentor. Also I never understood why more racing series don’t cross promote and work together more to increase the fan experience.
I actually liked Robby Gordon being in NASCAR in the Cup series when he drove a Monte Carlo for Felix Sabades ( I may have misspelled his last name. I'm sorry ). He is a racers racer. At that time Robby also drove an Indy car during the Indy 500, then drove in the Coke 600 the same day. Tony Stewart, another racers racer did the same thing. Those were the days in the 90's and early 2000's when you would see guys do that type of stuff and do well.
I was at a tech at a desert race in barstow ca. About 1994 or 95. I was taking pictures looking up under the rear end of robbies trophy truck when some guy knelt down next to me and said " when you get the pictures developed I want a copy of the blueprints " I looked to my left and it was Robby with a ear to ear grin messing with me. Raw talent, he should have done better in nascar but sometimes you need to keep your mouth closed and listen more. Much respect for all he's done in motor sports and business.
One of the most talented drivers out there he can drive anything, here in Argentina at the Dakar he stole the show, everyone wanted to see him doing those crazy stuff with his Hummer and later with the Gordini, jumping the podium ramp, the donuts, great memories of those days down here.
Got to meet Robby back in 2001 at Rolex 24hrs., Talked with him a while over lunch, REALLY a nice guy and very talented. No nonsense driver that just gets down to business and drives.
My introduction to Robbie Gordon was the 1994 Michigan 500 (CART PPG Indycar Series). He blew his right front tire going down the front stretch while grabbing a gear at about 225 mph and somehow kept the thing straight with one hand.
I saw these guys race at Texas last year. It was really fun! Robby almost hit a tow truck while coming off a jump, tow driver did a great job of moving out of the way.
2019 before the start of the Indycar race Robby smokes the start finish line and pits with massive donut smoke! great show! And the sound these trucks make!!! Only the most awesome sound from a racing machine ever. Hope to see you in 2021 Robbie!!
I remember when I was 13-14yrs old and I saw Robby at the Split Rock Resort at Poconos (I was there for the Pocono race), it was when you had the burn injuries (Dale) and John Andretti was your relief driver (R.I.P). Anyway, I was excited to see Robby and said "Wow! You're Robby Gordon!". And you (Robby) just blew right past me replying "Yup." I had to say, that hurt my feelings because I was a fan of yours at the time and I wanted to get a picture with you (Literally whoever drove a Chevy but I was more a Dale Jr fan anyway).
There is guys who stand out in racing for the good thing and there are guys who stand out for bad things... Robby Gordon covered both. No surprise he comes from a working class family.
Robby Gordon is a great SST driver! He can move that truck from the back of the field and be towards the front almost every race. Love watching the SST and the V8 Supercars in Australia. Great racing and some pretty wild tracks.
Another thing in Australia is at that time CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motorsport, now called Motorsport Australia) were promoting their own truck type series called SuperUtes which were Diesel powered vehicles that were slow and boring and SST was putting the SuperUtes to absolute shame. CAMS don't like anyone showing them up and play the politics very harshly.
Always good to hear from Mr Gordon, and he got my attention, when he talked about productions, and how a great effort to put forth something really captivating, doesn't translate in the viewer ship expected. Then you put the viewer in the driver's seat, and nothing else matters. Lol That's Me.
I feel you kinda makes you think how does trouble constantly follow one individual they soft balled it and actually didn't ask him the hard hitting questions like why is there the perception that you're a shithead and is that unjust and if so please explain why would love to hear the answer so I could form my own opinion but until then I guess I have to go with popular opinion wow that interview was soft
I’m glad he interviewed Robby Gordon people don’t respect him enough for what he was able to do a NASCAR especially when he had his own team his attitude was exactly what NASCAR needed people spoke about Tony Stewart all the time this guy was definitely not afraid to call out NASCAR or other drivers it’s a shame that he is no longer in the sport
@G hrvyck yeah idiot all the attitude stuff was good for the sport and brought story lines and cheating in nascar, please everyone cheated some got caught some didn’t. Present day it’s a lot harder but even still teams push the envelope so just cause u don’t like him doesn’t mean anything or go against what my original comment was.
I will agree with Robby, we are over saturated with racing events. I know for the last few years, we had to choose between Nascar and Monster Jam or Supercross in the Atlanta area. Not everyone's budget allows for all racing events.
Was at Texas Motor Speedway a few years ago for an Indycar race and Robby’s super trucks raced before the Indycars. The super trucks were way more exciting than the Indycars.😆
I wish Americans cared more about Australian V8 Supercar racing. It's so interesting in a completely different way. Plus the cars actually look like the cars they're based on!
It’s not that we don’t or wouldn’t like it, the problem is the media companies won’t put it on TV for us to even watch. I love motocross but they’ll only show Supercross on TV and even those are prerecorded sometimes.
I've never really liked anyone that dissed @DaleJr,and I never will,I didn't like DaleSr for the way he done Jr until I realized he was showing him how to earn what he wanted❣🌞
I'm kinda shocked Tony and Ray didn't want to work with Robby on their SRX series... seems like a similar style business model would fit their startup really well, and Robby would be interested in a trans am style car I would think...
I’ll never forget the time Robbie got caught red handed throwing out a piece of of roll bar rubber to cause a yellow. But after listening to a few of these guys on the Download how could they not cheat when everybody else is? Ward Burton called it “the car was fully cheated up.” Love these podcasts!
Robby Gordon could push a Kroger buggy to a checked flag in supermarket sweep. Then later that day, embarrass everyone at some random gocart race at Family Fun Center in Pine Knot Kentucky for fun. A natural wheel man, the FBI needs to look into all unsolved bank robberies that had a getaway driver. Robby Gordon would chase Vin Diesel's family down, giving Vin a quarter mile headstart.
Australia invented in car race cam, that's why our motor racing camera work is so good, talking about the hoon ban, even Lewis Hamilton formula1 world champion got hit with it and a massive find during the Melbourne F1 grand prix
Remember when Kyle Busch got pulled over at 130 MPH in a Lexus LFA outside Charlotte? He got nothing and the rumor was they said “130” but it was a lot more.
I think you can see it bothered Jr. when Robbie said that the SST race in Australia pulled more fans than the Daytona 500. And I can see why it possibly bothered him but at the same time, NASCAR has just gotten dull over the years and SST is this new hot series.
No disrespect towards the Aussies whatsoever, but having 230,000 fans at the track & being 3 times the amount of fans vs the Daytona 500.........IS SOLELY NASCAR'S FAULT, FOR TOTALLY WRECKING THE ENTIRE SPORT. "Saturation" MY ASS. Nascar RUINED the sport that we once knew & loved so much. Most guys still in the industry simply won't come out and admit it, because they're still depending on what remains of the sport to make a living.
OK, 230 000 people at one event may be quite a lot of people, but it is really put into perspective when you remember that that was in a country with a population of just more than 25 million... The Aussies are bonkers about sports!
Yep best series out there, SST. nascar has lost it's way, oh Hollywood greed runs nascar. Nbc should take notes, there coverage is terrible if you can figure out what ch it's on.
Hello dale jr . I'm a big dale Earhart fan I'm wondering if you can tell me a good place to eat with kids traveling to north Carolina I'm in Augusta Georgia
i remember the time where robby was on his way too win, and the in car camera failed and catched fire or something and it cost him the race. worst luck ever
Dont i recall some time ago Jr. Saying no he wouldnt invite robby to the podcast cuz he couldnt stand him? Maybe it was a different driver but i swear it was robby he was talking about
I definitely agree with what he said about an oversaturation of Motorsports in the U.S. I believe it hurts these different sanctioning bodies. Hell, Nascar has 6 different divisions between Cup, Xfinity, Trucks, Arca, Arca west, and Arca East. There is only so much time in a day, and fans are only going to sit in front of the TV for so long or go to so many races. I usually watch Indycar, Cup, Xfinity, and trucks, but even all that is getting to be too much. I believe Nascar would be wise to get rid of their truck series. They haven't done a good job with the series over the last few years and there are other sanctioning bodies that have truck racing covered if that's what you like
I'm always amazed at how Robbie comes out smelling like a Rose. He's been from the top to the bottom and just keeps coming back. Proud of the Man. A Real Racer
Now owns and races his own series. He's doing a nice job with that too
He also works harder than any man in motorsports and expects more out of his employees than any other
@G hrvyck doubtful. His heart was always in that type of racing. Robby Gordon was always an independent "my way" kind of guy. Probably didn't like the direction racing was going in, so he created his own. That's not the same as other series not wanting him
@G hrvyck you are really going to believe NASCAR didn't want his money lol?
@G hrvyck you seem extremely angry...NASCAR didn't ban him, the sport overpriced itself for Robbys liking, its not a coincidence he left around 2012ish. Robby was an owner/driver. @Boston Matias definitely, have been watching on flixzone for since december myself :D
Thanks Jr , always liked Robby Gordon a little rough around the edges but a real racer .
Robbie is an all out Racer. Love him or hate him, this dude was born to race. Wish nothing but the best for this dude...
I met Robby Gordon at a gas station in New Mexico a few years back while he was on tour with his stadium truck series. Super cool, down to Earth guy.
I always rooted for Robby Gordon in the cup series he was such a fun personality to root for and didn’t take anyone’s crap. Thanks for having him on Dale Jr.
Arguably one of the GOAT"s in the off road racing world. Also can win in any type of motorsports.

Greg Snelgrove how come we’ve never heard of you and your driving skills? Oh that’s right, you have none.

Robbie Gordon can wheel anything he gets in. He aint afraid of nothin.
Robby Gordon is one of the coolest people on the planet

At the time, Supercars were transitioning from a support category that races production based v8 utes against each other, to a new series based on turbo diesel 4x4 production utes, ushered in by Supercars and CAMS. The V8 utes were fun to watch, sounded great, lots of beating and banging. The new utes lost the V8 sound, and the cars were alot slower.
Now enter SST, V8s are back, they jump through the air, close racing. Robby had stolen every V8 ute fan, and CAMS were desperate to see him gone. The coverage in nascar is really bare to say the least. Let's show 5 minutes of racing for 10 minutes of commercials
I think you can see it bothered Jr. when Robbie said that the SST race in Australia pulled more fans than the Daytona 500. And I can see why it possibly bothered him but at the same time, NASCAR has just gotten dull over the years and SST is this new hot series.
Daniel how come you have not put in another Earnhardt into one of your Xfinity cars obviously they’re not doing too good in small team cars?
No disrespect towards the Aussies whatsoever, but having 230,000 fans at the track & being 3 times the amount of fans vs the Daytona 500.........IS SOLELY NASCAR'S FAULT, FOR TOTALLY WRECKING THE ENTIRE SPORT. "Saturation" MY ASS. Nascar RUINED the sport that we once knew & loved so much. Most guys still in the industry simply won't come out and admit it, because they're still depending on what remains of the sport to make a living.
Banned down under, epic. Miss Robby in Nascar.
This won't be airing on NBCSN at its regular time this week because of a hockey game. Anybody know if it will air at all this week and when?
Thursday at 6 pm ET.
@@DirtyMoMedia Thanks!!
With all the aero testing I don't get why they can get the air to come off the car differently to stop the dirty air situation.
Robbie Gordon and his son Max are turning heads in the UTV Market and on the UTV Race Track
Song at the end? Shazam cant find it
A real RACER!
Robbie G may have not been super in NASCAR but he is really good in everything.....
Dale and Robby say Australia so wrong and yes I’m Australian
Have you seen the Australian flag?
Robbie is a badass. True racer.
Hello dale jr . I'm a big dale Earhart fan I'm wondering if you can tell me a good place to eat with kids traveling to north Carolina I'm in Augusta Georgia
Robby Gordon...... The Humpy Wheeler of Stadium Super Trucks
Ha! You ain't wrong...take my money SST!
A real talent
Right now NASCAR is taking America for granted
Both of these boys are a ton better than the bullshit they call drivers now.
i remember the time where robby was on his way too win, and the in car camera failed and catched fire or something and it cost him the race. worst luck ever
I thought they were going to talk about the real reason Robby left nascar
I disliked him during his career but now I wish we had him back
Come on you know part of the Australian ban was due to him dumping Marcus Ambrose in Montreal. Vengeance is a dish best served cold
They haven't done a good job with the series over the last few years and there are other sanctioning bodies that have truck racing covered if that's what you like
LOL, it’s not the TV filming / covering the race. It’s a better race. It starts with cars.
