Last week I bought a GX-255, fantastic looking and in very good working state, but with tons of hiss on both tape and source, so I started searching all over to find some solution...and I found your video. @vintageaudioaddict I acquired the same deck…plays in both directions fine but only records on one channel. Both inputs are hitting the meters and pass signal when monitoring Source but monitoring Tape reveals the issue. Since the playback fidelity is great, should I try to eliminate anything else before replacing all the original transistors? Really love your channel and repair approach👍🏼
