Salam I have a question Sheikh, if we do sadaqah to centres which teach islamic knowledge which is spent on maintenance of the centre like paying for electricity bill, does this sadaqah will.be counted as sadaqah jariah, similar to the passing of knowledge example? Don't be a "puritan" rejecting weak hadiths when it comes to the virtues of dua and worship and good deeds. Weak hadith doesn't mean they failed. A weak hadith is a C+. Munkar and fabricated hadiths can never be used. Also weak hadiths can never be used when it comes to haram and halal, fiqh issues. An-Nawawi writes in the introduction to his Forty Hadiths: “Scholars agree that weak hadiths which speak merely about the virtues of deeds can be cited.” Ibn Tamiyah: “If the weak hadith speaking about the virtues of a good deed introduces any quantitative statement or any specification, then it is impermissible to use it. For example, this would be the case if the hadith specifies a particular time for reciting the Qur’an or a specific chapter or verse, or if it gives a particular way of performing an act.” (Majmu` al-Fatawa, 18/67)

In other words, when an authentic hadith speaks about a certain deed and a weak hadith speaks about the virtue of such a deed in the sahih hadith, then it's acceptable. However, whenever a weak hadith speaks about a certain deed with or without the virtue of such a deed, then it's rejected because all weak hadiths are never from the sunnah. I I have been fasting on Mondays and Thursdays for few weeks now Alhamdulillah but today I forgot it was Monday even tho I had the intention of fasting this Monday but I drank water after fajr and I said “O Allah accept our salah and fasting.” Then I remembered that I was supposed to be fasting today and I felt so bad for drinking water so is my fast still valid and can I keep it even tho I didn’t have the niyyah night before (I didn’t remember it was Monday) but I had the niyyah day before. Jazak Allah khair.
