    A little tip on the "O"ring is to put a dab of Vaseline on it to hold it in place. Tis an old mechanics trick.

    Good to see more FD videos, I subscribed, How many cycles do you get with the Premier pump, I've heard up to 25 before changing, I have an older standard pump that's good for 2-3 cycles, So thinking of investing in a Premier.

      Hi Tim, it was somewhere in the 20-25 range for me, I think it is based on running hours more than loads, so in the summer with higher heat and in Iowa higher humidity loads are taking longer so may not be as many loads.

    Thank you for this video. I want to purchase a freeze dryer and there’s quite a bit of difference in price between the models. My question, is there a gauge on the side of the motor to show the oil level or how do you tell when you have poured enough oil? Thanks

    • @adventuresinfreezedrying
      @adventuresinfreezedrying  Год назад +1

      There is a window on the front, however it lags behind the fill, so once you see it in the window it’s good to stop and wait a minute or two for it to catch up before continuing with the oil.

    Once you purchase a gallon of oil, does the new unused oil go bad? Does it have a shelf life?

  • @woodchuk1
    @woodchuk1 Год назад

    How many times can you refilter the oil before it has to be completely replaced? How many uses do you get out of a filter, just one?

  • @meganwinters5163
    @meganwinters5163 2 года назад

    Just wondering if you've thought of putting your used/filtered oil in the freezer to remove any excess water.? It'll freeze and be removable from oil. I've seen it in the forums numerous times.

      I am going to stick with what Harvest Right suggests, and I think I will only reuse once based on the comments on Facebook from some engineers who know vacuum pumps.

    You said you just finished using your freeze dryer in the video. How many minutes did you wait until you pour the oil out? The oil must be very hot right after.

    • @adventuresinfreezedrying

      I let it run for about 5 minutes in the test screen where you can turn the vacuum pump on and off.

    Does the dryer's software tell you when to change the oil (I assume you set the type of pump in the settings)? So, after you change do you have to tell the machine?

    • @adventuresinfreezedrying
      @adventuresinfreezedrying  2 года назад +2

      Yes, the machine told me 1 time. I did one more load and it didn’t say it again… I did not put anything into the machine… my guess is it tells you every x number of hours the machine has run to change your oil.

      That would be frustrating! I had surgery in February on my left arm, they broke it and put pins back in... (I haven't been able to use Freeze Dryer because I couldn't use my left arm and it really takes two hands to navigate) just this morning finished my newest video, Pears, where I show the screen that prompted me to do the oil change. I am finally able to bear weight on my arm so I will be getting back to freeze drying this morning and trying Morel Mushrooms...

    Just did my first oil change on my HarvestRight premier pump. I filtered the oil with the supplied Brita style filter, but when I added the filtered oil back in, the gage on the pump never showed I added any oil back in, and it's been over 15 min! Have no idea what the issue is, and unfortunately it happened on the extended 4th of July weekend. Anyone have any ideas what's going on here?

    You need to clean the oil out of the dimister

      I do not clean the demister regularly. If your pump is functioning properly it does not need cleaned every oil change.

    When using the pump does the oil level drop?

    • @adventuresinfreezedrying
      @adventuresinfreezedrying  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it does drop some which is why I personally always make sure I am at least halfway between min and max, however never exceed the max or you will get oil mist.

      Mine automatically turns off after the next load or two. If yours isn’t turning off you may want to try turning off your machine, unplugging it and let it sit a few minutes then plug back in and turn back on.
