Some incorrect information: the shrek/sharktale combo is not rare, a little uncommon at best. the robot hyper team go video pak is rare and the Shrek/Shrek2 combo is super rare. im in a collector group and a few of them have a complete ntsc gba set. the shrek 1 and 2 combo was often thought to not exist. i only know of 3 people who own it...including myself.

Also I kinda collect these too, and a few more are rare beyond what you mentioned:
      -Nicktoons Vol. 3
      -Disney Vol. 2
      -Sonic X. Vol. 2
-Proud Family (Haven't been able to find listings on amazon or ebay for any of these 4, so IDK what the prices are).

I remember as a Christmas present sometime in 2004 I got a Yu-Gi-Oh! version of these. I always hated seeing the 4Kids logo show up, because it took forever. I remember that the audio was terrible for these, as there was so much compression that there was absolutely no bass and plenty of digital static. The audio was so bad at points that you couldn't hear what Joey was saying to Yugi over the music because they were using the same frequencies.

I would guess that Nintendo and the TV companies were as hyper defensive against piracy as usual and were afraid that people would make VHS copies of the GBA Video playing through a GBA Player (or some scenario like this) (despite GBA Video quality + VHS quality = (most likely) totally unwatchable). Or maybe the TV companies were afraid of GBA Player infringing on DVD sales?

I never got one of these back in the day because the video packs were always more expensive than the equivalent VHS or DVD. I was also annoyed that they wouldn't work on the Game Boy Player, because that was my first thought when they came out. When they couldn't even do that, I just wrote them off. I never thought to use them for travel, because we didn't go many places, and I didn't have a GBA with a backlit screen because I didn't like how they required you to plan everything in advance and charge your device. I liked AA batteries because you didn't have to charge them. But it seems like the requirement that you be disciplined and get in the habit of charging up whatever device you'll need ahead of time has become the standard, much to my chagrin. As a result of that, my phone doesn't work half the time and I'm always having to find a random computer and e-mail people text messages telling them my phone is dead. I have not adjusted well to the kind of discipline required to keep something charged at all times.

It would be cool to find out exactly what the audio and video formats were for these things. I remember these form back in the day. The video and audio were not the best but good enough for early portable video. I'm guessing the audio would be in mono instead of stereo because of the Gameboy only having one speaker.

It's fun that back in 2004 it was so cool so hype to watch 190x240 video with low quality audio on gba, and while nintendo used restrictions to avoid watching those video's on the big screen, but they usedno restrictions on the play yan but blowing such low-res on a 4k screen will look really ugly hahaha.
These day's i take the gba for grantage for what it is.

This is something i think could return for the Switch, i mean imagine entire SEASONS of shows in your pocket, no internet required, in glorious HD, on a decent-sized screen. Like the entire original Pokemon Origins series, or Adventure Time. Perhaps Star Vs the Forces of Evil, or even some classics like Robotech: The Macross Saga and the original DBZ?

I had a slot one flash cart for my gba sp that allowed me play video or MP3. Think it was the supercard. Anyway, there was an easy drag drop conversion utility that converted the videos to a format I can't remember the extension for. Long story short, I crammed about 30 episodes of aqua teen hunger force and some looney tunes on there and my coworkers were jealous as hell. My Sony phone also played videos. Can't remember the model but it's the one that spins open.

I wish I had the Brandy and Mr. Whiskers and Lilo and Stitch ones if I ever had a Game Boy Advance.
The GBA Video release of Brandy and Mr. Whiskers is the only home release of the series outside of Disney Channel.
Lilo and Stitch is quite an interesting case. One episode was released on DVD alongside Leroy and Stitch and the complete series was released in Japan with the Japanese dub bundled with the Stitch! anime. The GBA Video release is the only standalone American release.

Game Boy Advance Video: All GBA Video cartridges are incompatible with the Game Boy Player. This measure was to prevent users from attaching the Game Boy Player to a VCR or DVD recorder and copying the Game Boy Video material.[5] The GBA Video carts detect the Game Boy Player and refuse to boot when running under it, giving an error message. Even if the carts were playable on the player (which they are through the use of flash carts and Action Replay), the resolution was greatly reduced for the GBA medium, causing pixelation and sound pops that a large screen with louder speakers would pick up.
