My pastor tells us (his congregation) do not solely listen to him, he says to go home and read the word ourselves. His sermons come directly from the Bible every week. We are to bring our bibles every week, he teaches us to circle, write notes, study word definitions. Praise The Lord!

Many years ago I was a junior pastor in a N.A.R church. I decided to examine what we believed and practiced through the pages of the Scriptures and I was fortunate to acquire a Hebrew/Greek bible but when the senior pastor found out that I was studying the Scriptures he ridiculed and rebuked me. I left that heretical group and became a student of the Scriptures for many years. I have been a Pastor for the past 5 years contending with the constant wave of blasphemers and false teachers through The Word Of God which these people hate.

Corey, this is very timely. I've been running into others that are coming against the Bible. Specifically Catholics that are opposed to Sola Scriptura and rely on "traditions". They raise tradition of the early church fathers to the same authority of scriptures. But Jesus spoke against putting man made traditions above the word of God.
The Catholics hi jacked Peter's ministry 200+ years after his ministry fell and diminished (Romans 11:11-12). Acts 15:11 (which was 17 years after Paul was converted), Peter said that now Jews have to be saved the same way we are saved:by Grace through faith. It's the last we hear from Peter in the Book of Acts. Paul's ministry is still going today.

Been saying it for years!!! Even us Christians who attend church even conservative churches, we love saying the word of God has power BUT WE DONT BELIEVE THAT!!! HENCE, we come up with new methods to "reach" entertain, etc. Let's get back to the word and pray that God sustains us and we don't fall away during these last days. One pastor said, Jesus told him that the letters or epistles of Peter are not from Him and his followers will believe him and will all be let astray just like that. I'm amazed at how many people are willing and ready to sully the Holy Word of the Most High God! All this in the name of contemporizing it for our times. We seem to "forget" that the way into Heaven is meant to be a difficult one! And that the gate is meant to be narrow! Introducing stumbling blocks into the Scriptures, in the name of fresh revelation, to submit one's "principles" to the whims of the times, is a sign of lack of faith. This means that these people, and those who listen to them and agree by their belief, have no faith. We do not have a common faith with them. For our common faith is not a permissive and self-aggrandizing faith, but a restrictive and self-abasing faith, that all glory and honor be rightly rendered unto our Heavenly Father! These lies these men and women tell themselves and others are despicable.
I do believe that there are things that we don't know about the supernatural world, and sometimes I wonder about all these spiritual warfare books, manuals, etc. I just try to stay with the bible because it does instruct us not to go beyond what is written, so I just stick with that.
This is amazing! We're witnessing a current Bible prophecy coming to pass. 1 Timothy 4 describes how many will fall away from sound doctrine giving in to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons. This is exactly what's going on in the churches. A close friend of mine revealed to me months ago that he no longer believes in the Bible but is convinced in old Pagan beliefs as the original source of God's message to humanity.

Jesus had and used "HERMENEUTICS, Paul, John etc.

Which edition of the NASB does it use? I use the 1977 edition. The more recent ones bow to political correctness. For example, they substitute gender-neutral terms for masculine words, just like the recent NIV editions do.

That once you've read a scripture, that's all it's saying,all done, that's all there is to it??? You need a closer walk and fellowship with the Lord if you truly believe that! The perfect tense means the action happened in the past with results that keep coming to the present.

At 1:39, Brother, if you REALLY STUDIED the Bible instead of just reading it, you will know there is NOTHING wrong with what that woman said. In 1 Corinthians 4:6-7, Paul is saying don't claim to be a prophet or to have received some special knowledge from GOD when you haven't just to elevate yourself above others. His teaching lines up with what Jesus taught his disciples in Mark 10:42-45. Now, since you failed to include 1 Corinthians 4:5 in your reading, I will include it here to add validity to what the lady was saying: "Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to LIGHT the HIDDEND things of darkness, and will make MANIFEST the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of GOD." Luke 8:10 says "And he [Jesus] said, Unto you it is given to know the MYSTERIES of the kingdom of GOD: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand." How are these hidden things and mysteries going to be made manifest? Through REVELATION (rhema) rather than the written (logos) word. However, the validity of that revelation will be CONFIRMED by what is written. The Bible has DEPTH. There are 6 depths or levels of comprehension that we can delve into by STUDYING the Bible. You see, the earth is 180 degrees out of phase with heaven (everything we do is backward or a reflection of heaven) and so is the Bible. READING the words on the surface of the Bible pages is the first level of comprehension. The problem with surface level reading is you can see the words but not see and you can hear but not understand. Taking the words you read and DO them or apply them diligently to your life gets you to the second level of comprehension. The 6th level of comprehension can be compared to what the National Security Agency calls "compartmented intelligence". It is only revealed on a "need to know" basis. Finally, Deuteronomy 8:18 says "You shall remember the Lord your GOD for it is HE that gives you power to get wealth." We know that GOD is not a liar. So, where is this power and how do I access it? That information comes through the 3rd level of comprehension after you have diligently applied the word to your life well enough to UNDERSTAND what you are reading. Then, you will have the mysteries of the kingdom of GOD opened up to you.

Many years ago I was a junior pastor in a N.A.R church. I decided to examine what we believed and practiced through the pages of the Scriptures and I was fortunate to acquire a Hebrew/Greek bible but when the senior pastor found out that I was studying the Scriptures he ridiculed and rebuked me. I left that heretical group and became a student of the Scriptures for many years. I have been a Pastor for the past 5 years contending with the constant wave of blasphemers and false teachers through The Word Of God which these people hate.
Thank God for your testimony. I always believe that Christians do not remain in these ministries. They will be drawn out by the Holy Spirit.

Corey, this is very timely. I've been running into others that are coming against the Bible. Specifically Catholics that are opposed to Sola Scriptura and rely on "traditions". They raise tradition of the early church fathers to the same authority of scriptures. But Jesus spoke against putting man made traditions above the word of God.
Many Catholic “traditions” were invented over time, even recently. When a Catholic says “tradition,” he’s using a euphemism.
The Catholics hi jacked Peter's ministry 200+ years after his ministry fell and diminished (Romans 11:11-12). Acts 15:11 (which was 17 years after Paul was converted), Peter said that now Jews have to be saved the same way we are saved:by Grace through faith. It's the last we hear from Peter in the Book of Acts. Paul's ministry is still going today.

I'm amazed at how many people are willing and ready to sully the Holy Word of the Most High God! All this in the name of contemporizing it for our times. We seem to "forget" that the way into Heaven is meant to be a difficult one! And that the gate is meant to be narrow!
Introducing stumbling blocks into the Scriptures, in the name of fresh revelation, to submit one's "principles" to the whims of the times, is a sign of lack of faith. This means that these people, and those who listen to them and agree by their belief, have no faith. We do not have a common faith with them. For our common faith is not a permissive and self-aggrandizing faith, but a restrictive and self-abasing faith, that all glory and honor be rightly rendered unto our Heavenly Father!
These lies these men and women tell themselves and others are despicable.
I do believe that there are things that we don't know about the supernatural world, and sometimes I wonder about all these spiritual warfare books, manuals, etc. I just try to stay with the bible because it does instruct us not to go beyond what is written, so I just stick with that.

This is amazing! We're witnessing a current Bible prophecy coming to pass. 1 Timothy 4 describes how many will fall away from sound doctrine giving in to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons. This is exactly what's going on in the churches. A close friend of mine revealed to me months ago that he no longer believes in the Bible but is convinced in old Pagan beliefs as the original source of God's message to humanity.

Which edition of the NASB does it use? I use the 1977 edition. The more recent ones bow to political correctness. For example, they substitute gender-neutral terms for masculine words, just like the recent NIV editions do.

That once you've read a scripture, that's all it's saying,all done, that's all there is to it??? You need a closer walk and fellowship with the Lord if you truly believe that! There's a reason you can preach many different messages through 1 scripture! God's word is alive, not dead, so it speaks even now and gives deeper insight into the meaning! Now, if what they're saying leads to sin, that's different, but don't take this, not saying more than the scriptures say text out of context! That's for when you twist or try to make the scriptures say something different, not for giving further and deeper insight into what the scriptures saying,that might not have been clear to you before! I'll add, these false teachers tend to prop themselves up as the sole or primary person in which God are revealing these extra revelations to, many in the congregation are deceived by this and they tend to follow more so the false teacher than God himself, it starts to become cult like behavior.
I was talking to a Catholic and they don't believe in "sola scriptura' and he said to me "Show me in the bible where it says we are to only go by the word of God"! I couldnt believe anyone would say such a thing..absolutely outrageous

At 1:39, Brother, if you REALLY STUDIED the Bible instead of just reading it, you will know there is NOTHING wrong with what that woman said. In 1 Corinthians 4:6-7, Paul is saying don't claim to be a prophet or to have received some special knowledge from GOD when you haven't just to elevate yourself above others. His teaching lines up with what Jesus taught his disciples in Mark 10:42-45.
Now, since you failed to include 1 Corinthians 4:5 in your reading, I will include it here to add validity to what the lady was saying: "Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to LIGHT the HIDDEND things of darkness, and will make MANIFEST the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of GOD."
Luke 8:10 says "And he [Jesus] said, Unto you it is given to know the MYSTERIES of the kingdom of GOD: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand."
How are these hidden things and mysteries going to be made manifest? Through REVELATION (rhema) rather than the written (logos) word. However, the validity of that revelation will be CONFIRMED by what is written.
The Bible has DEPTH. There are 6 depths or levels of comprehension that we can delve into by STUDYING the Bible.
You see, the earth is 180 degrees out of phase with heaven (everything we do is backward or a reflection of heaven) and so is the Bible. READING the words on the surface of the Bible pages is the first level of comprehension. The problem with surface level reading is you can see the words but not see and you can hear but not understand.
Taking the words you read and DO them or apply them diligently to your life gets you to the second level of comprehension.
The 6th level of comprehension can be compared to what the National Security Agency calls "compartmented intelligence". It is only revealed on a "need to know" basis.
Finally, Deuteronomy 8:18 says "You shall remember the Lord your GOD for it is HE that gives you power to get wealth."
We know that GOD is not a liar. So, where is this power and how do I access it?
That information comes through the 3rd level of comprehension after you have diligently applied the word to your life well enough to UNDERSTAND what you are reading. Then, you will have the mysteries of the kingdom of GOD opened up to you.
