So satisfying having a none noisy bearing, then you realise another one is on way out!
Some bearing kits come with a small amount of fine graphite paste as lube for pressing in 👍
Oh , I just used wd40 . Getting the old bearing out was a pain. I could See the press gauge just going up and up . So much easier once I heated it up
Great vid! Was good chatting to you at Jumpstart there yesterday!
Likewise, myself and Teresa watched your video of changing the light bulb on a Micra today 😅70k views . I always find it funny what videos do well and which ones you don’t think will do well but get loads of views. Currently struggling to get views on mk1 content 🤷♂️
@@stevenharpervw just keep chipping away is what I'd recommend. The views will come. You've a good thing going though.
Pretty neat. I'm doing a bit of research before attempting it on my b4. Might have a go with just an air hammer, socket set, heat and spring clip pliers
I’m not sure you will have enough Whack with just the air hammer. It did the second bearing only last week. To get the bearing out of the external part of the hub carrier I had to give it a good bit of heat to expand the metal. At least with the press you can see the pressure gauge and know when to stop and try something else .
Thanks man, gave me the info I needed.
The bearings can be very tight to get out . I had to give it some heat . Even a Heat gun might help if you dont have a blow torch . Best of luck and don’t forget to remove the two sirclips
Do we have to replace the HUB as well or only the bearing
Bust the bearings, the bearing will brake in half and the inner race will be stuck to the shaft of the hub. That’s why I had to cut it with the grinder to get it off .
Question? the Race that you broke off, does it have to be replaced?
No, it’s part of the inside of the new bearing .
Thank you for your great question
