My wife, a pastel artist, did a painting of Rabbi Shlomo in three differing views. It still hangs in my office over the library table that supports my computers. I'm 77. She is 75, been married 50 years.

This is Billie, Shlomo’s niece. I miss him so much. I think about him every day. My husband and I sing his songs together all the time. He played a huge part in my life. It’s his music: It can still make me laugh, make me cry, make me dance. Thank you for this video.

I wish I would have known about Reb Shlomo in 1973: year I was bar mitzvah.

My thanks to Benyamin Steinberg who has the TV footage. He told me that this was broadcast on Channel 1 Israel TV during the Yom Kippur war on Sukkot. In the video you can see Michael Golomb z"l (Tambourine) to the right side of Shlomo, Chaim Erenberg z”l (with mustache) and daughter on lap sitting up third from left.

In the summer of 1973, Reb Shlomo was filmed in the Herzliya Television studio accompanied by two tambourines, four guitars, and about sixty people, including many children. The program was entitled Pe’er Vechavod and was produced by Paul Selinger and Yisrael Goldwicht. It included the following songs: “Pe’er Vechavod,” “Lemaan Achai,” “Uvnei Yerusholayim,” “Lecha Dodi,” “Yisrael Betach BaShem,” “Esa Einai,” “Barchenu Avinu,” “Ki Hem Hayenu,” “Ki Mitziyon,” “Boi Beshalom,” “Mizmor Shir,” and El Adon. Reb Shlomo inserted stories emphasizing expectations for Peace and a future Messianic Day of Shabbos.

@@michaelkamiel3997 He would do the same in Carlebach Shul, sitting next to the entrance. I met him very often, in AT (Baden, where his father was Chief Rabbi, and Shlomo and Eli Chaim had their bar mitzvah, and in other places in Austria), Germany, Hungary, Poland, USA, Israel. He was an illui and a genius as a mentch. After his passing away, I have been crying when listening, and could not listen to his songs therefore. Now, after 30 years when he left us, I am returning to his music, still crying, but mory like melancholy.
Many thanks for this special video, it makes me remember the 70ies and their political and cultural sides, and, of course the way of expressing oneself. The patterns of shirts, the haircut... singing along. Today most of us are grandparents or great-grandparents, and Shlomo's music and personality remain a light shining into the world, Jewish and non-Jewish. Many melodies have turned into "regular" songs, and many persons are no more aware that Shlomo has written them. Greetings to all brothers and sisters, Hermine Grossinger from Baden.
