As sad as that scene is, I think this is good for Rumbelle's future. Everything is out in the open. Rumple either man's up or looses her forever. He can no longer have both where Belle is concerned.
I kinda hated how belle gave up on him, but i love all of her sacrifices, and i can feel all of the things she feels. Belle never thought of herself, she was unselfish and thought of everyone first. Belle as pure as her heart can be, gave up the only thing she was fighting for, the one she loved the most, so that she could save everyone even if she had to let him go. This is true love.
She didn’t give up on him. If she had given up on him, she wouldn’t have gone back. In abusive/manipulative relationships, the best thing you can do is walk away. They will either wake up and better themselves-or not.
Ok SO I'm here when the show ended and even though I wasn't quite happy with another betrayal in season 6 since I felt it was uncessary for him to do it again after sacrificing himself for belle. BUT I AM SO GLAD HE DID IT! But I am also glad they did end up together in the end literally were the ship that brought me to this fandom.

I really really loved this couple. I hope that they will eventually find a way back to each other, but it does not seem very likely. My compliments for this piece of art, I loved the contrast between the point where he lied when he said he loved power more then her and later he did. I think he figured that it was the only thing that hadn't left him and wouldn't leave him if he didn't want it to. Also I think he thought that Belle would be saver if no one could command him to kill her. But that is mainly wishful thinking

I’ve been in that situation. These kinds of relationships suck your soul out. You can’t stay if it’s destroying you. Walking away is the only way to help an addict/abuser. May we all be as lucky as Rumbelle, and that it all works out for good.

I kind of didn't see Belle giving up anything in season 2 and further for Rumple. At first, I loved the pair, but than I realised that she always accused him not for the things he does, but for the one who he is and who he is quite comfortable to be. I guess, if she was so not okay with that she should have walked away right after he gave her an opportunity (apart from other things)/ Loving Rumple is like loving a mafia boss, and Belle was quite a grown up girl to understand it. But, well, I understand that the writers didn't care about a depth of her character much so she does what she does and almost doesn't evolves during the series.

the thing I never really liked about the OUAT version of Belle was that in the first place,Rumple had no intentions to have romance with her!just a maiden which he somehow cared about and had respect for,like protecting her honor or saving her when the Queens of darkness tried to kill her but never attempted to have romance or anything sexual with her and was trying to get back to his son!Belle was different!her intentions were never just because she simply cared for him or had respect and maybe she did something that made him fell for her ultimately but it wasn't because she saw him for what he is or the respect he has for her!it was always more like she wanted him to be the person she wants to!the first thing which always came in my mind was "Girl!You're his maiden!not his wife or family or someone he supposed to answer to!can't you at least keep your and his respect that much?" I loved the animation version of Belle better because she was modest and wise and not someone who wants to force the beast,be someone which she likes him to and also didn't had that kind of purvy intentions!Rumple in here true that ultimately fell for Belle which was a mistake because the right thing for him,is to love someone who loves him for him,not someone who's delusional about him and expects him to be the guy which she wants him to!and now I really believe Rumple did the right thing by kicking her out of his castle in 1x12!because I will darely say,if he once was a complicated person who also knew he can't have everything and also some people really don't worth to cry or waste your time for(like Pan)no matter what's your own opinion about them,he tried to change and sacrificed himself in S3 and he was OK with his fate!to die as a redeemed villain finally but some decided to make decision for him and bring him back from the dead,making his sacrifice unworthy by another curse which leaded him to be controlled by some Evil witch and loose the son which he tried so hard to reunite with!the only thing which he did wrong was playing act for Belle while if he could be just like S1 and don't act like she wants him and end everything with her,then being Evil,things would be so much easier!
