According to the translation, those are decoy dispensing rockets (PK-2) and they are testing the ECM effectiveness of the decoy rockets. I assume the 'M' designator means a 'moderized' version of the PK-2.
For those saying India can't catch up to so and so - you do realize we are doing this on our own merit - indigenous development, co-development, buying with technology transfer, etc - not begging or borrowing tech from a superpower. We pay for it in blood, sweat and/or cold hard cash. So cut us some slack. For those saying we will never match the superpowers, the superpowers didn't start out as such, they built up their capabilities - even the US took nearly 300 years and the breaking of the British Empire after the two World Wars to assume global position of power. So give us, we will catch and surpass you. NOTE: Brahmos is the only maneuverable supersonic cruise missile better than anything else available. The US navy considered it the biggest threat and started their own development of similar missile :)
When we got Independence from British rule 200 years later Soviet Union signed treaty with us 13 April 1947 modi.and Putin celebrate 70 years 2017 of dipolmatic realtionship friendship with us India
great feeling.....very apppropriate, that this great INS VIKTAMADITYA joined Indian navy at this critical time.. i mean belligerances of neibours like CHINA especially. with our presence in in indo- vietnam .vis-a vis oil explorations!! what a fantastic name in VIKRAMADITYA! CONGRATS to all !
it was a battle super cruiser before.. but russia had no enough budget to maintain it... so we converted to aircraft carrier... the battle cruiser was never used it was decommissioned in just few years... its almost a new because we change 80% new parts...
Russia consider Admiral kuznetsov more like a heavy aircraft carrying cruiser. Not an aircraft carrier. Its armed to the teeth unlike other Carriers of the world. Its has its own weapons and the best part is they are integrated well that they are hard to find em on the ship. Great job Russian Navy.
***** Impossible. America has had 100 years expertise in blue water ops. Night time carrier ops. Ours are light carriers at best. Additionally, with the improvement of ballistic missile technologies, it's going to be pointless to maintain a large carrier fleet in any case.
Jayanth Kumar- We need Indians, NRIs & PIOs with an optimistic outlook. How do you expect India to (first) catch up with the best and then (second) replace the best WITHOUT going through a shortened version of the experience/learning curve of operating (even "light carriers") , regardless of any improvement of ballistic missile technologies. If its pointless, then maybe India/Indians should not have bothered with attaining "Independence", maybe, in your opinion that was "pointless"!
I'm merely being realistic. We often have a way to inflate or deflate our achievements, without looking at them objectively, in proper context. Thanks for assuming a bunch of things about me. Are you next going to call me "Sickular"? Lay opinions should be placed aside, when looking at the reality of what is out there. We are a highly professional, and disciplined navy. Just not as great as many of us would want us to believe. we'll get there, not with misplaced patriotism, but with hard work.
MindCoach And to your point of Independence being pointless. Are you capable of having a discussion without flaring into troll-dom? The debatable pointlessness of a nation to maintain a carrier fleet is clear. When one is able to have amazing guided missile destroyers pepper the waters that are strategic to our interests, like China has, then you are heading for a muscle show down. Building a coherent blue water capability is a great first step. We are far from there. A large carrier fleet for India? We don't really have the need, atleast not for another 30 years. We can make do with our light carrier, and nuclear submarines and destroyers to maintain our strategic interests. That is enough for depth in strategic deterrence, and at the same time, doesn't require us to start competing with the Chinese, who are in turn competing with the Americans. No one should forget that war between the two nations is never going to happen. With two nuclear powers facing off, it is the most distant possibility, even in our wildest dreams. Silly escalation leads to an arms race. What would be the equivalent of a carrier build up? We don't know, but one thing is for certain, in today's global interconnected world, the pointlessness of spheres of influence is remarkable. It is far better for us to boost our diplomatic efforts first, and then move forward full speed on our Naval modernization. At the end of it all, i'm sure you're in agreeement that as Indians, we all want the best for the nation.
I'm Russian, so i can translate for you - video is named "Trial fire using ECM complex PK-2M from carrier pr.11430 Vikramadityja."

Videshi hatyar fail India
Russian officers still at weapons stations?
Good Choice! The poor reputation of Indian officers precedes them! :P
Test trial by Russian experts before handover to India.
Right you keep believing that. You have a second hand Russian carrier. I guess when India plays catch up America would be standing still.
we cant compete with the US, we know that. our present aim is to bash pakistan and counter china
it's old ship but it was refurbished.now it contains 80% new components.
Still can match against an American carrier.
