The division is so much that they can't even be in the same league system. This division is painful and has not gone away. Bloody Sunday in 1972 was an absolute tragedy where many innocent Catholics died for peacefully protesting. The Dubliners sang a very moving song that was politically neutral called The Town I Loved So Well which I would recommend a listen to. The Real Derry documentary and Derry Girls also helped me understand a lot about what life was like in Derry post and during the Troubles.

Derry are a great club to have in the LOI given the passion of the local support, in particular, but what a hugely disappointing result for Derry. These are the games they clearly should be winning against similar quality opposition. However, as they say, it's still only half time so let's hope they can do themselves justice next week and put a bit of pride back in the jersey.

I believe the Riga fc Twitter account used a British flag to represent Derry rather than a republic of Ireland flag. The Derry city supporters were not happy so I guess used a Russia flag in response. Not a smart response considering current events.
