Thank you! Someone who provides useful information other than telling you to let the doctor determine it for you through X-Rays. Some of us actually want to avoid a pointless trip to the hospital if it isn't a fracture.
Thanks! Great and concise presentation. I cannot properly put into words how happy I am when I see videos like this - short, straight to the point and helpful. That bit of personal experience I think also adds a ton of value to the information!
I appreciate that you mentioned bruising! I think mine is more complicated by vasculitis I've been unsuccessful in getting treated so bleed/bruise more easily, but after these three FOOSH instances in a day ( long story), there's so much bruising/ in my left hand, I'm surprised I have circulation anywhere else! Now off to the ER!
Thanks so much ! I fell backwards on to my hand and my wrist is very painful but more so when I move it, I think it’s more likely a sprain, that’s a relief! Last time I went to ER for a cut in my arm they sent me a bill for $ 2,500 for cleaning it and stitching it with 8 stitches.
Had a FOSH about six hours ago. *Extremely* painful and swollen. Fell out of a pickup truck and reflexively put my arm out to brake my fall. I'm almost 100% sure it's fractured. I have a 9:00am appointment tomorrow. Sure hope they X-ray it.
Question: If we're in a situation where we're falling, what *should* one do to prevent FOOSH? I always hear that's the main culprit for wrist breakage/fracture but, never an alternative method to prevent it. (Great video - thank you!)
Good question. This just happened to me today. It happens so fast that sticking your arm out is a reflex action. I can't think of another way to brake your fall. Hope it didn't happen to you.
@@Bob31415 No, but it did happen to my mom and she had to have surgery. All I can think of is a falling "push up" stance, where you keep the elbow bent and spread your fingers to distribute the weight. Or tuck arms in and try to fall on the squishy part of your bicep.
@@Bob31415 I think they put a pin in her wrist. She doesn't have carpal tunnel symptoms but, does have numbness sometimes and a significant loss of motion. She regrets having the metal put into her wrist. It was around 2005. Same incident: sticking your hands out to prevent the fall.
I slided on fake grass but when I fell my wrist bent and it feels more uncomfortable than painful I can move it but if I move it a lot it hurts when I move my fingers it doesn’t hurt
Based on the video, it isn’t fractured ... mine only hurts when I move it and it feels stiff but it’s not a constant pain. Gonna save myself a trip to the doctor lol
hello, do some people experience a click or a pop when it's a wrist tendon issue? i went clumsily into an impromptu shoulder stand when doing some supine floor exercises and put so much weight on my wrist before it was ready; heard a horrible tear,'crunch' or pop and now hoping it isn't fractured. intermittant pain so far, sticks around if i start doing movement exercises, which at this stage might be a bit silly.i've hurt it all round but main pain, the epicenter on palpation, seems to be around the flexor carpi radialis...i think...
hi im playing basketball and i landed on my wrist 5 weeks a go and after a 3 day rest i already started playing again but still had a pain on it but im still following the R.I.C.E method after a certain activity. my problem is until now its not curing is this just a sprain or i need to see a doctor already?
yea i was throwing a right hook and as soon as i hit the bag my wrist started hurting, it’s been a day and it’s still hurting when i move it in a certain way
Does it heal over time or do you have to see a professional? I think something is wrong with my wrist because it’s been 8 days and I can’t twist it side to side, but I’m still in sports
Thanks for comment , it’s been 7 days for me and can’t move it too much without it hurting. I had an X-ray done and it’s supposed to be a sprain but I was still concerned, it’s taking so long

The throbbing pain in my wrist and your advice will now prompt me to go for an x-ray 🤦🏻♀️

Is it true that stress fractures don’t always show on X-ray?
I fell on my wrist I'm in agony but when I get it in the right position it eases a little bit. I've got pain from elbow to wrist
