Back in the early '70s I sat on the front pew in a little church in the middle of nowhere Alabama and watched a much younger version of what I knew then were the best tenor and bass voices I would ever hear. That statement still holds true today.

I absolutely love the Inspirations old and new. My all time favorites are Archie Watkins and Mike Holcombe. Hopefully I spelled their names right from memory. My Grandma Willis introduced me to them and I've loved them ever since. I have a lot of their CD's, records and tapes.

They are really good. Gospel music is so touching and powerful. I saw them around 2007 in Lawrenceville, Georgia at Cornerstone Baptist Church. One of them is the pastor there, forgot which one. They are a blessing to hear.

Pardon me Mr. MUNCY, for the record: that's a nice story but, unfortunately, it's not true.
The first song on this set is "Touring The City." Harold Lane, long time tenor for the Speer Family wrote "Touring The City."
The line "Mom and Dad will be singing" refers to Mom and Dad Speer. The line "for the dearest friend I ever had" is a classic Speer Family song written by Dad Speer.
Ben Speer brought "Touring The City" to The Inspirations one day during the taping of The Gospel Singing Jubilee. The song was the title of an early 70's LP by the Inspirations. The song became an Inspirations classic and was number one on the Singing News charts.
    Respectfully,
    Pastor Lanny Belcher

the first song in this line up was written by my dad's first grade teacher Mrs. Nell Maggard. she was an amazing person and I got to meet her two years before her death and asked her how she wrote this amazing song and the testimony is incredible. she was listening to a message from heaven given to a preacher named Jim Fields saying glory to God I'm going on a tour of glory that will never end and this song came to her. she set own at her stand up piano in her home parlor and wrote the song known as touring that city.
