“ I can screw two of them up before I realize it’s not going to work.” I laughed out loud, but that is I found it to be also. There are always a few gems in your videos.
Man transmission puzzles are like a love/ hate thing for me. They're terrifying and overwhelming with the sheer number of parts and things to remember. But actually getting them to fit in place is satisfying.
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍 : My Congratulations to you sir ! I worked for Oldsmobile Dealer as a young man rebuild one transmission 350 it came out just fine ! In a career over 30+ years I never did that again. I would do electrical , engine over haul etc., so to you sir 🥃🥃👀😎👍
After this excellent and tiring work. i'm going to have a cold beer to alleviate this "texan" heat here in São Paulo/Brazil, Mr.Anderson congrats to your courage and work. Happy new year 🎉🎉
* Mr. Anderson I give ya credit for attempting that with no prior experience. What worries me the most is that it has to be completely reassembled and reinstalled before you know if you got something slightly wrong. Good Luck Lee. And yes in this instance I believe "Luck Is A Factor!" 👊😎👍
I have only tried that once 30 some odd years ago. It worked great going forward. Had no reverse! Nope never again, I only have manual transmissions in my stuff. Refuse to own an automatic.
When we were kids playing baseball, the ball would get hit over in the woods and of course we would have no idea of where to look for it. So, my uncle told us to focus on the general vicinity of where the ball was hit and try to at least narrow it down to where the ball went by the sound it made going through the brush and so forth. Well, that worked out pretty good. I have learned to apply that in my shop because i am always dropping the mysterious clip, spring, check ball, and so forth. I have learned to differentiate the different sounds as the mysterious piece hits concrete, wood or steel to give me the best place to look. If the part is magnetic, I will sweep the suspected area with a bar magnet, and of course the magic cure is to do like you did and make the piece, install the piece, and after putting the transmission in the car, I will find the piece I lost (murphy's law says so). The first automatic transmission was not really a fully automatic unit it was a mechanical unit operated by the driver It was the planetary transmission in a Model T Ford. The first fully hydraulically operated transmission was the GM Hydramatic. These transmissions were used in battle tanks in WWII. But you are correct in one assumption. The engineering that goes into these transmissions boggles the mind, and it was many years before they were fully developed. In fact when I was coming up nobody wanted an automatic transmission (had to be standard shift). Nowadays with all of the red lights we incur an automatic transmission is the way to go. In fact we have them in big trucks and they get some getting used to but they work just fine.🥸👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I found the clip yesterday. Of course after I put the trans back in. (Stupid Murphy). I never knew tanks were automatic. I guess that makes sense. I definitely don’t miss my 4 speed
@@Theoldironworkshop yes not all of the tanks were automatic, there were standard shift ones as well. And of course, there were engines that put out quite a bit of horsepower. I have some standard shift vehicles but prefer automatics. It used to be we tried to see how fast we could go, but now it is how many redlights we can make. I find stuff on the floor eventually when cleaning the shop floor. Sometimes those mystery parts can get into the damnest places.
This was the most comedic episode to date only thing missing was the brick wall behind you! Welcome to the stage Mr Anderson !!! Viewer discretion is advised !!! good job on the tranny mission ! Can't wait to see mable driving soon ! That clip is probily in the same place as thee notorious missing 10 mm socket!!! Cheers
I’ve been following all of your hearse videos. Each one of them has been extremely informative and interesting. All that you have done to transform this hearse is amazing and especially the last two videos on disassembling and reassembling the transmission. Most impressive that you were able to reassemble it just from watching a video. Always looking forward to your next video.
For the next time, if you use Vaseline Petroleum Jelly instead of the grease then during operation the Vaseline will dissolve and dissipate whereas the grease floats around in gobs for quite a while after you start using the transmission.
Well dang. Well I had it sit for 3 days. And I did get it installed yesterday. And surprisingly it worked. Although I did have a alarm for open circuit on a few things so I think my electric plug might be a problem
please tell me it worked? I have been found laying on the floor with a torch identifying anything sticking up...I feel your pain regarding the clip. Happens to all of us
Why doesn't a transmission oil pan have a drain plug? The mess during dismantling could be avoided?? By the way, first class work with this complicated subject! Greetings from Austria/Europe!
Isn't the pump similar to the rotors motors Mazda had that has a variable squeegee as the rotor turned in a elliptical fashion to form variable compression chambers sorry for saying squeegee couldn't pull the right word out of the muck between my ears
I respect a man who owns up to his mistakes. You can always edit these out, but you never do. Thanks for another excellent video.
I try to be honest. As we all know, nothing ever goes the way it should.
“ I can screw two of them up before I realize it’s not going to work.” I laughed out loud, but that is I found it to be also. There are always a few gems in your videos.
Rewound the part when you stroked the screwdriver I’m still fucking laughing
how can you not admire a guy that will try anything, incredible.

The struggle with that small floor jack! You're killing me Dawg. Good work! 😂
Your vid before this as you jack up and block that big ol caddy up!
You obviously have super powers to reassemble that puzzle 👏
Let’s hope it works
@ I have faith in you bud
There are even more parts in there that I could have imagined.....Smoke and mirrors.
Well done ! Great video as always.
More fun with the hearse. I hope you nailed it on the first try.😊
You have the patience of a saint 👍🏼👍🏼well done
Thanks for another excellent video. Very educational, very fun to watch and always learn something!
I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Liked the vid. Difficult for you to accomplish, enjoyable for me to watch. Thanks.
Appreciate it!
I’m Canadian and we’re getting the dry shaft,, great job like always, thanks. You could’ve been the straight guy in a comedy dual
Loved this one - great job.
Ive never dug that deep into a transmission. Kool to see and useful for when I do
You never know when you will need to. Although I highly recommend you don’t.
@Theoldironworkshop i have a thing for getting myself into "learning experiences" 😆
It's not just the impressive engineering that goes into technology like this, it's the pure evil genius.
Somebody had to think of this.
No kidding. I mean, every idea comes off the back of somebody else’s previous idea. But still pretty mind-boggling.
Excellent video...... Thank you so much .
You are most welcome

That’s amazing that UTUBE thinks your TALKING about a Three Dollar Bill and channel is Mostly about CARS Great video Happy New Year
Bahaha 3 dollar Bill 💸 that’s funny

Yeah, trust me. It scares me too
I feel your pain. We have so many transmission videos for Edna that we had to make a Playlist for them
Well done ! Hey ! I saw that clip in your hoodie 😅
Hi there mate lucky you got the video you help you do that work on the Auto the I if would let them to that's work mate

I would have had a box of parts left over, good job, enjoyed..😊
Very educational video, Hilarious😅....
Dude you are exactly like me lol I jump the gun like it’s a game and it always bites me in the ass
To be patiente is the secret, congratulations from Brasil
After having 3 daughters you learn to be patient

I'm always learning new stuff too. That’s what makes this adventure fun.
You got balls , man and a spare! Thanks for the video how to, I would have called GearStar or some other company.
Great video! A little tip...
Use Vaseline and trans fluid for assembly. Works like PFM.
Hmm. Perhaps next time. Or I’ll just plan better
Im dying to see if this m effer works im sure it will and if it don’t u will fix it no doubt ! Good luck sir

I have never had any kind of luck with automatic transmissions. Kinda like manuals. So much easier to work on also it's an anti theft device!
Clutch plates must be 24 hrs in the atf fluid before montage ??? thats what we learned at course....great job brother, greets from holland....
Well dang. Well I had it sit for 3 days. And I did get it installed yesterday. And surprisingly it worked. Although I did have a alarm for open circuit on a few things so I think my electric plug might be a problem
I still wonder if we've met since I used ti work at Sugartit Moonshine. The owners even used to have me park Edna out in front of the building
please tell me it worked?
I have been found laying on the floor with a torch identifying anything sticking up...I feel your pain regarding the clip. Happens to all of us
Good morning my friend
I got to say I know nothing about a transmission
Guess I will stick with my mountain bike
😢
That's a wise choice.
I could’ve swore I seen a check ball move when he dropped that valve body on….😮
OMG, please don’t even say that

A guy once told me, your old when your can do can’t keep up with your want to.
Shleprock 👀💯🍻🤣
Aaaaaand this valiant demonstration is why Richard in Texas makes the big bucks.
The sungear shell is a problem with the 700r4 and the 4l60e you should have gotten a harden one from monster trans and heavy duty sprags
Why doesn't a transmission oil pan have a drain plug? The mess during dismantling could be avoided??
By the way, first class work with this complicated subject! Greetings from Austria/Europe!
I have no idea. It seems like a simple thing, but they never seem to have one
Your music sounded like " Alvin and the Chipmunks" when sped up during video! I have a kid, i know ! lol
Who doesn’t love Alvin
that should be a nice bruce jenner
👍
Nope wouldn't try but good on you sir.
Ta DA !!
i didn't catch it....was it determined what was actually wrong with the transmission?
Clutch was toast
Three lol
Yeah, well I take offense with the word clutch. I DEMAND you accomodate me!
My leg definitely no longer like the word clutch
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Isn't the pump similar to the rotors motors Mazda had that has a variable squeegee as the rotor turned in a elliptical fashion to form variable compression chambers sorry for saying squeegee couldn't pull the right word out of the muck between my ears
Yes I believe they are.
Just call it a Bruce Jenner
FN A
TITLE...... "How to Reassemble a 4L460 Transmission - One Handed."
Yeah no kidding. Stupid camera
That will never work! 😂😂😂😂
Nice balls and tyranny!!!! It's their problem thinking that way..geezget head out of the sand..Oops that might have been wrong too
It's ridicules this is a channel dealing with automotive infotainment.
The T word lol . Cant even talk about your transmission anymore wtf is this world coming too
Screw that PC / AI bullshit! It's a wonder you didn't cop shit about "lubricating your shaft". Not everyone's a car guy, eh?
Nobody likes a dry shaft
