Almaty has 141 nations - i think Romanians are here also! My friend is Slovakian - moved to kz in 1995 with her family and now married to kazakh man - very multinational city!
honestly, for the people that grew up here and haven't been out of kazakhstan much, it is indeed one of the nicest places in the country to be, but if youve lived there then moved somewhere like Amsterdam or Vancouver, you'll know its really not all that amazing. Don't take it the wrong way, its a nice town, but its nowhere near the best city in the world. Don't compare unless you actually have something to compare to
guys you are right. Almaty is simply the best just for one reason - it is hometown of simple and nice people. I live in China, but I miss my hometown(((
the city is beautiful according the videos and pictures. new buildings erected recently, new transportation solutions all of it is interesting. however guys, with all dew respect, situation is awful. city is over populated, infrastructure barely able to conclude amount of city's occupants even without guests of this once nice place to live. huge contrast between new structures and the very old once witch located just next to them. SMOG above is terrible, sometimes you cant see a street ahead.
I watch videos about this place to remind myself how much I hate the place. It's in earthquake zone, tha's why the capital is now Astana. It's full of thieves, the weather's shit, the buses stop early, has the worst drivers in the world, no centre. What's good about this place?
