My English Setter just died yesterday and I wanted to see other Setters like him at work. Rhino was his name and it is an African name that means nose. I named him that because even as a puppy he used his nose a lot. He was my best friend and loved to be with me. He is to be cremated today at 2:00 pm . I'm going to be there for him and I will take his ashes home with me. I will remember him as long as I live.
I’m sorry to hear that, English Setters seem like an astounding breed. I’m seriously considering getting one. How long did Rhino live if you don’t mind my asking?
@@gxdhabakkagw6268 Rhino died earlier then he should have. He was 3 weeks shy of his 10th birthday. He got a hold of some old Chicken bones and they punchered his intestines. He died of an infection. If I had been smart I would have given him a loaf of Bread to eat and that would have helped him greatly. Rhino Died on the 30th of December and there just wasn't any Vets around to help him. It was during the Christmas Holidays. Not a good time to get sick !!
My first-ever dog was an English Setter, and we had so many exceptional years together, starting when I was in jr. high. He's been dead decades now, but, at 82, I still tear up about him. But...golden memories of love & adventure prevail.

@Caroline Kain I agree. They truly are amazing. I've only had two dogs, both English Setters. The firs when I got my pick of the last litter of my only uncle's brilliant, loving birddog. For his lifetime, he considered them the very best companions/birddogs. The former was in evidence daily, and they came home regularly with the pheasants to prove the latter. After my Mike passed in his sleep after many, many happy years, I decided to NEVER get another dog. Parting was too painful. I'm 82 now, changed my mind. My 2nd will be 9 in Nov. Farley is full of love from dawn 'til dusk. Still has the energy and inquisitiveness of a toddler...but is considering adolescence. We both very happily enjoy one day at a time. 5/7/21.
I've developed a theory wherein all dogs fall somewhere on a scamp-fluff-chunk venn diagram.
