I was at that game.....I had a Inter Milan jersey on.. boy ....the Irish were all over me...lol....75k at the stadium 97% were Irish...I got my ear chewed off....mostly saying it was their world cup...it was fun
I was there too. I was 7 years old. Will never forget it.
I would have loved to of been there!
No body expected it
We scored way too early. My heart barely survived the rest of that match.
Impressive achievement considering eventual champions Brazil only drew with Italy after extra time.
McGrath was a Goliath in that game .
True footballing legend....'The Quiet Man' ☘☘
If in the final when McAteer hits the crossbar he had scored, the history of the entire World Cup would completely change!!!
Literalmente increíble qué Italia haya perdido y le haya costado tanto la clasificación a 8vos con ese cuadrazo qué tenía .
Revenge for ‘90
Great game...will never forget it......lost half my body weight.......
Thanks! Please, Ireland x Egipty - World Cup 1990
Who is this comentator ? Dino and Roberto are not brothers
George Hamilton.
George Hamilton of RTÉ, Ireland’s national broadcaster. Most famous for his tendency to say, “Danger here!”, before Ireland’s opposition score a goal.
Era ubriaco quel telecronista
this was the group of death along with mexico and norway and all 4 teams finished with 4 points the goal differential was what decided who would move on to the next round
Claro el más difícil x mejor, 4 equipazos

In that tournament the captin Barizi played only two matches the first against Ireland and the final against Brazil and waste the first pelanty.
Baresi, not Barizi.
@@nicky29031977 And while You're at it,penalty,not pelanty....
@samiralkayed baresi played against norway in the second match as well.
Italy were poor in this match considering they reached the final.
Ireland has beaten Italy in major tournaments but England hasn't that's just sad
🇮🇹🇮🇹 💙💚✅➡️🇮🇪🇮🇪💚💙💟
Ireland deserved their win although it proved to be a blessing in disguise for Italy who still got to the final.
I agree with the blessing in disguise for Italy losing to Ireland however I wish that Nigeria had beaten Italy in Boston
in the second round they were so close (2 minutes away if I'm not mistaken).
I feel if Nigeria had beaten Italy they would have reached the final because I feel they'd have beaten Spain & Bulgaria too.
It could have marked an important moment for African soccer if Nigeria had have reached the final of USA'94.
Damn Italy for getting lucky against Nigeria!
@@shervinbehrad1848 Luck is part of football. It's what gives the game it's romantic element which you don't find in other sports. Anyway Nigeria, for all their attacking brilliance, showed alot of naivety in trying to score more goals. They should have played Italy at their own game and simply sat back and defended and they would have won. Italy deserved to win for the fact that they never gave up even when down to ten men and Baggio's first goal was spectacular considering all the pressure he must have been under. In extra time..it was all Italy, although Rashid Yekini did come close.
Agree with u..
WHERES THE GOAL???????

1-0 Ray Houghton (11 min)
Where is Robby Keane !?
He didn’t start playing until 98/99 - this was ‘94.
Robbie Keane won a Euro under 18 championship for Ireland in 1998, I think.
Ah yes the original 1-0 irish upset over Italy
🇮🇪🇮🇹
Beppe Signori what a player
The 2 biggest surprises in wc 1994 are Ireland and also saudi arabia who beat belgium and nederland
I remember this game, Ireland deserved their win, come to think of it though Ireland finished above Italy in the group yet ended up
with a more difficult second round game against Holland in Orlando and even if they had beaten Holland Brazil awaited them in the
Quarter-Finals in Dallas.
Whereas Italy played Nigeria in the Second round in Boston and Spain in the Quarter-Finals so perhaps Italy losing this game actually
was a "blessing in Disguise" bearing in Mind how the Second Round draw ended up.
i dont think ireland would have beaten nigeria that year though. They were bloody good
@@wallinggraham3836Italy beat them so......
Además qué contra España fue altamente beneficiado porqué cuando estaban 1-1 no le cobraron un claro penal a la “furia”
I was only 12 back then 30 years ago Ray Houghton was the winner causing an upset
We should have won that game 2 or 3 nil
Italy & Argentina have a similar story in the Fifa World Cup, which both of them lost in the 1st match of the group stage, then still passed through to the final. Argentina did it in 1990 after losing to Cameroon & following by Italy in 1994 after being defeated by Ireland.
No, not really lol. And "we" is a stretch given 8 of the 13 were foreign.
The worst versions of those 2 anthems i ever heard
Didnt recognise the Irish one
Peter Drury
Kevin Keegan
Jack was a great manager
Could have done more with those players, including all the foreigners eligible at the time. Far too one-dimensional and scared to play football. Only 2 wins in 13 tournament games under him.
