Haha, engineers are not Gods. A good solution is not to buy shitty sandles, I have one for I don't know how many years and it's toe separator is just fine. But yeah, one could probably improvise something. I have these Budmil rubber slippers and one of them snapped last year so I drilled a hole into it with my dremel (replica - the original costs too much) and I fastened it with a dark ziptie, you can barely see it. So - use your imagination. And try to distribute the tension on a large area. I don't know how your sandals look but the toe separator was probably too thin and weak so glueing it back doesn't necessarily solve the problem.
Yeah, I know, I may offend a lot of people with that statement, because engineers can actually do more than an imaginary friend all those religious people have. I just meant an omnipotent being.
I've been saving change for about 10 years and have a 2'x3' tote bin filled to about a 6" depth and is about 500+ lbs. I used to laugh about it and call it my retirement fund. I pulled it out last night and have rolled over $800 dollars so far and you can't even tell I touched it. There has to be at least another $1500+ in there. I never dreamed it would add up to be this much so I've decided to actually use it to invest towards retirement.
I just wait until I have enough coins to constitute a "roll" (ex: $5 in dimes) and get a wrapper at my bank and either deposit it or cash it in for bills. No charge and barely any cost for my time.
He can't leave a dollar or anything like that. You can only load the full balance. I am pretty sure BTB loaded right when he returned home, just as he said, that's why he didn't bother to blur the code.
Thankfully everything I purchase goes on CC...very rarely do I come upon a cash-only place, and thus, no loose change. I don't miss the days of rolling coins. Also, snazzy car! And it was nice to go on a "field trip" in your video.
Thank you for your videos. I really appreciate them. Recently my washer dead. So I have been using my change for laundry. Otherwise I use my change for garage sales. Keep up the good work and thanks for keeping your videos to the point and short.
BeatTheBush It all depends on the Year, condition and where it was made, collectors will pay top dollar for something you think as just pocket change www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/united-states/ you can check this out if you like, same thing for bills just because there's a little star on it it's worth more than what you think hah
I have a 2001 Camry! I love Toyota/Lexus.... Great long lasting cards. Okay leaving Medford tomorrow really want to chat with you BTB... Come on I'm one of your 1st subbies....
I actually have a plastic coke bottle with a slit cut into it. Every time I had change left I would put it into the bottle-now it's choke-full. This is a timely video!
BTB!!! I take mine to my local Credit Union. Most, if not all Credit Unions have "Coinstar" like machines that count up your change and can deposit into your account. I understand most banks won't accept a jar of random loose change. My other option Is to take it to Vegas. All the cashier cages will gladly exchange your coins into paper money with no charge. I wonder why? Option A is the better bet, no pun intended:D Keep video's comin!!!! You Da Man!! bush bush
Hey! Thought I'd ask a quick question because I'm not completely clear on something... I'm 20 years old with roughly 760-780 credit (my parents thought ahead and I've had a credit card under them for about 8 years, which I didn't even know until I checked my credit score, and that card has about 13% utilization). I just got accepted for the Discover It student card. I realize that opening this card will lower my credit score for now because my average credit age was 8 years before, but how would you recommend I use this card? I got a $1000 limit and I don't need anything close to that (I probably spend like $100/mo max), so do you think I should just spend however I want taking advantage of the cash back and then do the $2 thing so that I have nearly 0% utilization?
You can also talk to a small retail establisment close to you. Alot of businesses go to the bank every day to get change so if you go they will likely buy the change from you at no cost.
I used to convert my nickles and dimes to quarters using a vending machine. Just put in nickles and dimes, then hit the coin return button to get quarters. I did this a couple dollars at a time. Not sure if it works on all machines.
Might be unrelated but what do you think about dashcam for cars. I notice u don't have any in the back. Would you say that it would help save your case in an accident. Someone just hit me a couple days ago. Literally just backed up into my car. It's my words versus their's if anything happens like this . And i also hate those heat receipts... Some stores got lucky I can't return my stuff. :( I've learn to take picctures of certain receipts I need
at my office we have vending machines and on Friday just Friday I buy a snack and use some coins. 2 times a year I take the blankets to a cleaning place that has machines so I use a lot of coins that way. sometimes when I buy food from a bagel shop or shop rite I use coins along with cash. my coins keep rotating they don't pile up.
I do the same thing from time to time, and once in a while they may run out of amazon gc code, with that they will give you the code so you can bring it to cashier and get your money back in bills as their refund process instead!
what do you think about banking apps that transfer your change for you into a savings account? or apps like acorn that take your change, and invest it. Acorn has become popular at my work.
Thank you!!! I go to coinstar. I have a full glass container of change and I going to get a Amazon code this time so can buy a diffuser. Love your videos!!!!
Nice! Just make sure you don't blow your amazon gift card on something random. The credit does not expire so if you displace what you would buy anyway then you actually converted those coins to cash rather than spend it.
For me, I usually get rid of my change when it amounts to several dollars worth. Also, since I live abroad in South Korea, there are all-purpose money cards (T-Money, Cashbee) you can use for public transportation or use them at convenience stores or fast food chains. To deposit my coins onto my card, I use either a machine at the subway station or ask a convenience store clerk to deposit the money on my card - there's no fee either way!
This is cool, but I bought a fun little coin roller off Amazon that rolls the coins and then you just bring the rolled coins to the bank = no percentage/no fee. Of course, you do have to pay for the machine but I'm highly entertained by doing it and it's quite fun to use, sort of like a reverse slot machine :D It puts the coins into the correct rolls and everything.
Can you make a video on how to turn gift cards into cash? I have many gift cards that I don't use and I feel like it's just a waste having them sit there
is it bad that I use coins to tip at restaurants? I know some waiters/waitresses do not like to receive a bunch of coins, but money is money, and they can exchange coins for free with their boss.
My bank has one of those coin machines. You put your change in it then it prints out a receipt. You take your receipt to the teller and you can either get cash or deposit into your account. There is no charge for account holders. If you have change ask your bank if they have a machine. I didn't know my bank had a machine until I asked about it. Currently, I have a plan to use my excess change to make deposits in my savings account.
Sure. The credit stays in your account and doesn't expire. Just make sure you enter in the code after you get it so there is no chance of it being hijacked.
The bank has heavyweight plastic bags to turn in change, one just has to count out the change for an estimate and the bank has a machine that counts out the money and a credit shows up on your account.
My bank has a machine, don't know how they do it but I'm sure it's free to use. Check your bank before messing with coin star, you should be able to put it directly into your account..
No. We don't have those around here. I live in a really small town in Texas so it's a local brand. I give the change to the teller and she turns around and dumps it in a machine and deposits it.
Good to know, I really liked the driving scene of this video, questions 1- what going on with the stake over there rated XXX, ? 2-The Dinosaur and the peas travel with you everywhere or they at home ?
if i ever pay in cash I always use any coins I have to reduce the change i get and to keep my change pile low. If you keep it low there's no need to change the coins.
(in the UK) I have a small jar on my desk where I have 1p, 2p and 5p pieces which I then use for the Tuck Shop. (Anything larger is parking money.) The profits from the tuck shop go to charity so it is win win as I get to stretch my legs, get sweets and donate to charity.
Nice one! Even better at a credit union. To me, I just do it at the local coinstar for convince, I get so little coins these days so that jar might be 2 years worth, lol.
Just take it to your bank. Usually the main branch will have a coin counter, if its not close to you just save up and make one trip a year. You can also hand roll them and smaller branches will take those.
+Brad Barber I think those coins you saw is from 2 years of my change. But great point about if you can actually deposit into your bank. To me, if you buy stuff on Amazon, it's equivalent less the cash back you would have gotten. It's a small amount though.
i would rather roll my own. i sort my pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters and dollar coins all in separate containers, usually old water bottles, and roll the coins at my leisure. i dont trust the coin machines.
@Mur Doc why take off the hat? Last time I used a coin machine they took a percentage of my money. If you happen to have Canadian coins they don’t pay you for them and don’t return them. I’d rather take a few minutes to roll my own coins than just give my money away.
Ahhhh then they take a cut. I hate it when they charge a fee. The Amazon GC is also a type of fee since you can sort of get Amazon gc for less than face value through credit card cash back.
I was wondering do you ask people to leave a comment below to debate with them if they have a difference of opinion? I just notice this trend in your videos.
Louis C I think it's just human nature that creates debate. Also "Ego" comes into play. Thinking their way is better, while the other person's views are wrong. Which falls in the category of psychology/Human Nature. That and Trolls..:D
Louis C comments help with the RUclips algorithm. If his videos get more comments, they'll get more views. Also he might reply mostly to opposing views, but that doesn't mean he doesn't look at/appreciate positive comments
We have the exact same car with that horribly designed rear plastic window. You referred to it as old. Porsches don't age, mate. Another thing, I know you are savvy with money so you may be pleased to know that Porsche magazine recently put out an article that said the earlier Boxsters (yours and mine) have finally bottomed in value with an average of $15k for 2001. So you may want to hang on to that "old" car and watch it appreciate in value. (The new Boxsters btw are complete junk 4 cylinders, so don't go that route.) We use coinstar too!
$15k? lol... I see them go for around $6-7 k... mainly because min has 155k miles on it. Oh yeah... that turbo charge 4 cylinders? Gah... The most reliable are normally aspirated since you do not have to keep on replacing the turbo.
Many banks and credit unions have machines that let you exchange your coins for bills free of charge. You don't even have to have an account with them to use the machine.
Warning* if you get a Amazon gift card use it immediately and spend it all bc that code is a leak for scammers. I just went through an ordeal with Amazon. They hadn't never dealt with it and neither did I. Again, if getting an e card make sure you know what you want to buy with it and spend it with in the same hour.
cost basis doesnt' apply to money. a thing can cost more to make than the 'synergized' value of its components, and it will still be produced with adequate subsidy. tbf all money should be worth more than it costs to make. otherwise why produce the money? but basicly a large portion of businesses choose to price things at x.96-x.99, even though the pricing system itself costs them more than the loss in revenue rounding to the nearest nickle. pennies aren't worth more than a penny, they cost more than a penny to manufacture. a penny is materially worth around 0.1 pennies. but the labor basis part which matters is the amount of effort to dissemble the parts, and the simple weight of having to carry it around, and the opportunity cost of having to count pennies. thus pennies are pragmattically worthless, they dont intrinsically have value, and they are have 'deflated' value to the degree they aren't worth exchanging. the only value pennies have is a consistent weight. as one would want for old style scales.
You can find a store that has a self checkout machine. Try to pay for something that's at least $10. Use like $5 in coins, once you do that the machine should say something like... Paid: $5.00 Due: $5.79 Just CANCEL the payment and the machine should dispense a $5 bill instead of the coins you just inserted😁 im sure this method works with higher denominations as well
Good trick! Like many said in the comments, you could also just deposit it but that requires you to count and stuff them in the paper sleeves some banks provide for free.
We just use credit cards for everything, so we don't get much change. Any change we get, from recycling or other places, we use for garage sales or for kids allowances.
I love how you never run out of little practical things to say.
That's not an engineering question. Why don't you try asking a cobbler.

Yeah, I know, I may offend a lot of people with that statement, because engineers can actually do more than an imaginary friend all those religious people have. I just meant an omnipotent being.
The trip to the Coinstar machine was a nice *change* of pace from your normal videos
I've been saving change for about 10 years and have a 2'x3' tote bin filled to about a 6" depth and is about 500+ lbs. I used to laugh about it and call it my retirement fund. I take mine to the bank FREE once a year i have old money bags from a bank. Last time i got $ 417.88 LOL .
I just wait until I have enough coins to constitute a "roll" (ex: $5 in dimes) and get a wrapper at my bank and either deposit it or cash it in for bills. No charge and barely any cost for my time.
I used to roll them, this sounds really interesting and easy! I'm going to try it out. Thank you!
Should've blurred out the amazon code. I just saved $6.89 from my order.
Are you serious lol
LOL, but uh, it's $7.89 so you lied :D
I left one dollar for him
@BeatTheBush Can you confirm this?? lol

Fantastic idea. Must look out for that machine here in NI.
Thank you for your videos. I really appreciate them. Recently my washer dead. So I have been using my change for laundry. Otherwise I use my change for garage sales. Keep up the good work and thanks for keeping your videos to the point and short.
Using it of course is better value. =D
Interesting. excellent demonstration. Not sure I would do that with my massive change horde. I think I would go to the bank and get cash.
Practical and helpful, thanks.
Great to hear they have a no fee option I don't remember seeing that 👍🏻
Don't forget to look at your coins before cashing them, because if they are rare they could be worth more than face value!!
How the heck would I know which ones are rare?
BeatTheBush It all depends on the Year, condition and where it was made, collectors will pay top dollar for something you think as just pocket change www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/united-states/ you can check this out if you like, same thing for bills just because there's a little star on it it's worth more than what you think hah
very educational videos. THANKS
nice i was just thinking about what to do with my change
Hi there, what camera do you use for your youtube videos? :)
i love this guy he's goin' on an adventure

The First RUclipsr a lot of banks don't have these, at least where I live. Usually only credit unions.
Craig Payne I'm pretty sure every bank has a teller that will accept cash and coins and deposit them into your account.
yeah. some bank tellers make you roll it. others dump it into a machine similar to coinstar.
The First RUclipsr Most banks require they are rolled.
This is frigging awesome!!
I guess all your change is gonna be spent on Amazon? Lol.
at my office we have vending machines and on Friday just Friday I buy a snack and use some coins. 2 times a year I take the blankets to a cleaning place that has machines so I use a lot of coins that way. sometimes when I buy food from a bagel shop or shop rite I use coins along with cash. my coins keep rotating they don't pile up.
How much does it cost to maintain your porsche?
Thank you so much for showing us how to use coinstar machine.
Cool video thank you.
I use coinstar and i get the applebees e giftcard receipt. I might choose amazon since i got prime.
Good video. I didn't know about the gift cards and I've used those machines for a while.
=D

Does your bank offer coin change for free. No fee at all.
For me, I usually get rid of my change when it amounts to several dollars worth. 😊 Hi BTB! I usually go to the credit union and use their free coin machine.
Good video.
Thanks!
Can you make a video on how to turn gift cards into cash? I have many gift cards that I don't use and I feel like it's just a waste having them sit there

you can get gift cards from Amazon at coin star

Liked👍👍🏻 loved this video
I go to my bank and it's free and deposit it in my savings account.
Same.
I go to our Postoffice or Bank and can exchange it for free to bills.
Myybe this is something only switzerland is doing for free?
Kroger self checkouts actually have a coin funnel thing that takes whole handfuls of coins. awesome.
couldnt you also just take it to your bank?
it's real cash and no fee, rather than dealing with gift receipts that could get damaged or lost
The sound of porche!
Can you do this periodically through the year and buy some big from Amazon in the future?
Nice one! For the banks that have this machine of course. Not all do so you have to check.
My bank has a change machine that lets me deposit my change for free as long as I deposit it into my bank account
Great your bank has that as many credit unions it seems.
TWDxKILL3R which bank do you use
Esmeralda Macias .... citizens national bank of texas
My bank has a machine, don't know how they do it but I'm sure it's free to use. Check your bank before messing with coin star, you should be able to put it directly into your account..
Can you do a video about job interviews or job searching in general? Would be interesting to get your 2 cents on it (pun intended) 😉
I go to my bank. They have a coin machine that is free when making a deposit. Very easy.
Same.
TD bank?
No. We don't have those around here. I live in a really small town in Texas so it's a local brand. I give the change to the teller and she turns around and dumps it in a machine and deposits it.
Ah ok, look likes TD hasn't expand their tentacles in Texas towns
I'm using Wells Fargo. The machine is in the lobby and gives a receipt that I give to the teller.
Or they stay at home ?
Good to know, I really liked the driving scene of this video, questions 1- what going on with the stake over there rated XXX, ? 2-The Dinosaur and the peas travel with you everywhere or they at home ?
if i ever pay in cash I always use any coins I have to reduce the change i get and to keep my change pile low. If you keep it low there's no need to change the coins.
My problem with that is I have to carry around the coins to use it. I really do not enjoy the extra weight.
I just changed my coins and got $82 🤗. my credit union is free. Good tip on the coin machine offering gift certificate 🤗
Nice one! Even better at a credit union. To me, I just do it at the local coinstar for convince, I get so little coins these days so that jar might be 2 years worth, lol.
My friend has a business at the Mall and he needs changes in the cashier mechin. I give it to him and he pays me bill.
We dont even have this methode of getting rid of the cash. We can only go into the bank here. It doesnt cost anything(yet).
Just take it to your bank. Usually the main branch will have a coin counter, if its not close to you just save up and make one trip a year. You can also hand roll them and smaller branches will take those.

I just use a change counting machine. I bought one 10 years ago for $20 and it still works
And then you deposit it in a bank?
this shouldn't have made me audibly laugh but it did
How much did gas cost you to drive out to do this? Was that a sunk cost anyway or was it a marginal one in order to change coins into the gift card?
+Jimmy Lam About $0.10 but normally, I would clump this together with buying groceries so there is not added cost of going to the machine.
Save your small bills and coins in a way that you are blind to it. It's a wonderful Christmas account or a good way to snowball your debt.
It's a good way for those who need some method to help them save. For me, I just pile all the savings into one spot.
I use the little sleeves for quarters. Coin star the rest.
=D
i would rather roll my own. i sort my pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters and dollar coins all in separate containers, usually old water bottles, and roll the coins at my leisure. i dont trust the coin machines.

Yes, I have used coinstar. Mine only gives back cash. But, its still good.
Ahhhh then they take a cut. I hate it when they charge a fee. The Amazon GC is also a type of fee since you can sort of get Amazon gc for less than face value through credit card cash back.
Can you throw them away in different location?
Throw... the coins? You meant the credit cards that are cut I think?
Not the coins. I meant you can throw away the credit cards in different locations so people can't piece it together.
I was wondering do you ask people to leave a comment below to debate with them if they have a difference of opinion? I just notice this trend in your videos.

sal7777777 My Chase bank here in Chicago doesnt.
Delta Credit Union has a machine that does it for free up to $250.00
why did u say no thanks When it asked for your email? u should make a video on that
Spam probably
You should never use Coinstar, you end up paying double tax at around ~20% when you buy things with the voucher they give you.
to make our lawyers happy

Save all nickels, pennies older than 1983 and dimes/quarters older than 1965. The metal content is worth more than the coin itself.
I thought all pennies are worth more than a penny no matter what age.
Not yet. The new zinc penny is currently $.007 according to coinflation.com. Of course producing them costs way more.
cost basis doesnt' apply to money. a thing can cost more to make than the 'synergized' value of its components, and it will still be produced with adequate subsidy.
tbf all money should be worth more than it costs to make. otherwise why produce the money? but basicly a large portion of businesses choose to price things at x.96-x.99, even though the pricing system itself costs them more than the loss in revenue rounding to the nearest nickle.
pennies aren't worth more than a penny, they cost more than a penny to manufacture. a penny is materially worth around 0.1 pennies. but the labor basis part which matters is the amount of effort to dissemble the parts, and the simple weight of having to carry it around, and the opportunity cost of having to count pennies. thus pennies are pragmattically worthless, they dont intrinsically have value, and they are have 'deflated' value to the degree they aren't worth exchanging.
the only value pennies have is a consistent weight. as one would want for old style scales.
I use local bank and no fee
You can find a store that has a self checkout machine. Try to pay for something that's at least $10. Use like $5 in coins, once you do that the machine should say something like...
Paid: $5.00
Due: $5.79
Just CANCEL the payment and the machine should dispense a $5 bill instead of the coins you just inserted😁 im sure this method works with higher denominations as well
Good trick! Like many said in the comments, you could also just deposit it but that requires you to count and stuff them in the paper sleeves some banks provide for free.
Hey Beat The Bush
Would you be interested in doing a paid hour or half an hour Skype session for a more personalized advice/plan?

Some credit unions let you use their machines for free if you're a member
Thank God we don't have penny's in Canada anymore
those damn canucks. They're only doing this because canadian money is not as valuable as American currency.
We just use credit cards for everything, so we don't get much change. Any change we get, from recycling or other places, we use for garage sales or for kids allowances.
Free with my credit union
I take my change to my local bank in coin rolls If you ask the bank teller, most banks will supply you free coin rolls...
