- The Christmas Market has opened in Castelo Branco and we are busy getting ready and Alex is making stands and displays.
We take you along with us and show you our stall and some of the attractions put on by the @camaramunicipaldecastelobranco Castelo Branco City Council.
It was great to see our village philharmonic band playing...

We are an English family, Alex Molly and Sandra living the Portugal farm life.
This year will be our eighth year here so we have a lot to share.
Bringing you every aspect of our daily farm lives, including Molly and Alex cooking amazing meals in our old wood fired Portuguese bread oven and sharing our recipes with you, plus everything involved in running a working goat farm 🐐🐐🐐🐐.
Follow us as we renovate the buildings around our old bread oven and other buildings on the farm with natural materials, re-building and planting the vegetable patch after the fire destroyed it all.
Building the new goat barn and milking parlour🍼, our days with the goats, births and milking them.
Molly making soaps🛀🧴 and many types of cheeses🧀🧀 from our own goats milk.
Watch what we grow, daily farm life and chores, visiting local sites and showing you the local area.

"Quinta" stands for 'farm' in Portuguese. "Fonte da Pipa" means "Source of the Barrel"

I follow many RUclips channels from people of various nationalities living in and around Castelo Branco, however, only you guys actually speak Portuguese wonderfully well. It's so refreshing! To see "expats" assimilated in the local community and actively promoting local events and cultural life definitely makes this channel stand out. Brilliant work, thank you!

We came here to live and work a farm, we deliberately chose an area with very little 'expats' around and as we were welcomed by everybody in our village with such kindness we made friends very quickly.
I just dont understand those that move here and dont integrate into the local community, i hear them all say they love Portugal but do nothing but talk bad about them or build illegal 'retreats' or homes and still drive UK cars around after years.
I think they like Portugal because they think they can come and live under the 'radar' buy a bit of land and build what they like... that is not helping Portugal at all and i find it insulting as i feel Portugal is my home for life and hate seeing Portugal being abused.
But by the looks of how little subscribers we have compared to many other bigger channels it seems people are only interested in the 'amazing' lives of those living illegally here in wooden huts, trucks and yurts etc.
We lost hundreds of thousands of Euros because of the builder, money i planned to start tourism with, we have spent years struggling and there were a few years where we only ate once a day but despite all those losses we are fully legal here, we pay tax, our farm is registered as are the animals, just like i would live in my home country... so if we can do it the others don't have any excuses.
We promote many local events and always support our community because it is our 'home' and we are very proud to live here amongst such good people.

Hi all, looks like you've had a busy time, dad doing his woodwork. Hand made with love and very practical. Mum driving around supporting you. Happy Belated birthday, no more teens. Goats are enjoying the lovely lush grass. I do hope you manage to get some wild boar for Xmas lunch. Thankyou for sharing, stay safe and sane.
We had 6 boar in our back garden the other night, one went for Eddie, Eddie ran off😂 thankfully.

Alex a quick note on the flowering plant at about 5:00. I am pretty sure this is "yucca gloriosa" one of the species of yucca native to the Southeastern USA. They dont die after flowering and here in Georgia generally flower in late spring and again in the Autumn most years. Its a drought tolerant xeric plant requiring little to no maintenence. I grow it myself. Agaves are related plants that in most species do die after flowering if they have not pupped. If you, Molly or Sandra are into succulents at all I do suggest you look into growing agaves. Agaves are truly gorgeous plants! Randy/GA

your right i moved them there is i like them and when they do flower it is pretty impressive. Will get Molly to have a look as she is very in to cactus and grows loads, she had some beauties but the goats came and ate them all🙄😂
