I went with 3M Crystalline. I did 20% in the back (the darkest available), 40% in the front and 50% windshield. It’s amazing. Do wish the tint had a more black color instead of brownish color.
Maybe it wasn’t available when the video was made but Expel XR Prime +, rejects 98% of infrared heat, and there is a huge difference between that and 80%, I’m in Texas and wanted all the hear rejection I could get, I’m sure that’s true for AZ, nice video, great that he took so much time to explain your choices
Xpel is re boxed global, 3M is trusted and backed by science. That’s why it’s in construction sites & doctors office. Xpel is reboxed global, with better marketing, over promising but long term doesn’t even compare to 3M
Just found your channel. This video helped me decide what to go for. My wife just got her Model 3 and we have been trying to decide on what kind of tint.
This is very informative. I ordered a 2021 Tesla model 3 performance white on white. I was asking around about what is the best tint possible for my soon to be car. Since you have white interior, I now know wayyyy more and this was exactly what I needed to know. Thank you very much. Great content by the way. I also subscribed. Showin love.
Beautiful car and driver!!🥰 Very informative video! I’ve been driving Tesla’s for 6 years and have never had the differences in film explained so thoroughly!! Bravo!!
Nell, Thanks so much for the informative video. I stopped by Cactus yesterday and talked with Rick. What stopped you from getting the Prestige film? (the one of the far left). And are you still happy with your 3M crystalline choice?
Hey David! To answer your first question the reason why I didn’t get the prestige film was because personally I didn’t feel too much of a difference between UV blockage from the 3M Crystalline vs. Prestige film. The prestige just stops more UV light but wasn’t a big difference and Rick recommended going with the 3m. Most bang for buck unless you wanted to throw away money. YESSSS!! I am very happy with my choice of tint. It works amazing under the AZ sun especially when it’s 115 outside.
Great video, thanks! Two questions for you: 1) Did he tint the rear door windows at all? He mentioned they were reading as 24.9 already, and I wondered if that was as-is from the factory. I can't go below 24 in my state, so if that 24.9 is standard, then I guess I'm not tinting my rear windows! 2) What % did you do on the front windows? I am thinking I will go 50%. I'd love to go darker than that, but I have trouble seeing as well at night.
To answer your first question I did not get my rear door windows. As for the second it was 20% since I wanted it to somewhat match the rear door tint. I hope this helps 😊
@@skeletor716 Agreed, it does not look like CR20. It does look lighter than the back smoked factory glass. @Tesla Nell are you sure it is 20%? I'd guess CR40 or CR50 on the fronts. Informative video btw! Thanks.
The reason why I didn’t get my windshield tinted is because living in Arizona there’s a lot of of rocks that hit windshield. I have had to replace my windshield three times due to rock damage so though it would be nice to have it, it would really be a waste of money.
@@teslanell7203 there is a windshield protection film that can be installed on the outside to protect against rock chips. I’m getting it installed on my Tesla.
@@teslanell7203 HI! I live in AZ and have the same issue. If you get your windshield done at Smart Film, they will replace the film for free when you replace your windshield through them. They also specialize in Teslas (the owner has one). Also, I am not going to do the roof for two reasons. 1) very expensive 2) according to my research, the factory tinted roof is already "absorbing" most of the light/IR. What you are feeling is radiated heat. Any more tinting can cause it to crack from the heat. IMO safer, and more cost-effective, to do the rest of the glass with tint first... and then maybe get a roof screen from Tasmanian (if less transmission through the roof is desired). Thanks for the video.
Hes right it will keep you cooler from the sides but youre still going to feel the sun through the windshield, 70% ceramic on the windshield at least will make a worlds difference and cops wont be able to tell the windshield is tinted
I read in one of your comments that you’re considering doing the roof next. The roof already has UV protection are you considering it because it’s still gets too hot inside ?
Sorry for getting back to you so late but yes even though the roof has UV protection the interior still gets rather hot (130 degrees at times) and this may be a personal opinion however I do feel like doing the roof with 3M crystalline could mitigate that heat.
I've been tinting my vehicles for decades and recently did my latest Model 3 with 3M Ceramic IR. Just a word of caution...the Ceramic IR film looks WAYYY lighter than other brands and types and more blue-ish and this is with my black interior. I did 50% on the windshield and 35% on the sides and rear and honestly wish I went darker like the 25% or 30%. I had Lumar Pinnacle 40% ceramic on my last car and this 35% looks lighter which is weird. Oh well....lesson learned, not all film is comparable by %.
Are you satisfied IR tint and do you like the bluish hue? I am debating between the crystalline and IR, but I don’t really like the brownish color of the crystalline 40 but enjoy the heat rejection
@@Tendertroll1 It's fine and works well in the heat, and the bluish hue is only really noticeable on the lighter shades. If you went 25% or darker it looks black. Crystalline is probably priced double of any ceramic tints so it's kinda overkill IMO. Around here in NJ Crystalline quotes for the full vehicle are like $1200+.
@@teslanell7203 Hey, does your tesla have a camera/radar installed near the windshield? I finally got the crystalline on my subaru but did not do the windshield because we have these eyesight cameras that can malfunction even with the cr90 I heard. Just wondering if you have something like that in the tesla and if the film is causing any problems?
So crystalline has the best heat blocking properties too bad it doesn’t come in dark shades I don’t like people looking at me lol I think I may go 3m ceramic ir
So, does the crystalline tinting really keep the heat out as much as it was demonstrated in the shop with those heat lamps or it just hyped? Let me know because I'm looking at doing that for my car, but I don't want to spend a lot of money if it just "kinda" works. thanks,

Nice, well done video. I have Crystalline 40 on my SUV and the IR is amazing. You have a beautiful Tesla.
Thank you 😊 It works wonders especially in sunny states !!!
I have crystalline 70 on my windshield and 20 on everything else and it does a great job fighting the Florida sun. Expensive but worth every penny

Would you say Expel XR Prime is better than any 3M IR Tint currently? Not sure if things have changed since this comment.
He said 80 percent solar not 80 percent ir rejection.
