  • Hi Manos! 🖐️🌍🎗️
In this interview we speak with Iara Mantiñón Búa, from Spain.
Iara represents the sarcoma metastatic cancer patient and tells us what it is like to have this diagnosis in a world that still has many taboos around this diagnosis.
Iara also had to relocate to receive her treatment, and she shared some insights into what that experience has been like for her a rare disease patient.
Graduated in Journalism from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, with a Master's Degree in International Relations from London College and another in Professional Journalism with the national newspaper ABC. She has 10 years of experience in carrying out international reports for various media. In 2016, while returning from Egypt after working with the Oxford Business Group, she was diagnosed with Myxoid Extraskeletal Chondrosarcoma. In 2020, she founded Asarga (Asociación Sarcomas Grupo Asistencial), where she served as President until 2023. This was the first sarcoma association at the national level to reach the Congress of Deputies to expose the problems faced by patients with sarcoma cancer due to the lack of a referral protocol to reference centers (CSUR). Its current objective is to provide care and support to cancer patients through informative and scientific dissemination from the perspective of the patient and their needs.
Thank you Iara for sharing your experiences knowledge with us and making a better place for people diagnosed and survivors!✨
