I didn't make this connection until you said that there were no computers in this library, but the Goth house has no technology either. The thing that bugs me most about this lot being a library is that there are no bookcases with skill books in them. And who has ever been to a library that has a bed and bathtub in it? It makes me wonder about the potential lore of the place.

I think it's mainly due to this lot being very old and at the beginning of The Sims 3's life cycle. EA put stuff that would fill out space and didn't really care about the potential bugs or glitches (like that damn courtyard) and now over a decade later these things seem mysterious.
