  • One of the ways we prepare for the upcoming trapping season is by refreshing the traps with a fresh coat of dye. We use speed dip which is a black dye that we mix in with gasoline. The gasoline evaporates and leaves a black coat on the trap which helps reduce smell and blend in to the environment. We also make sure the traps are firing correctly and contain all necessary forms of ID. Leave us questions in the comments!

Have done this with a half a dozen traps this year and they have all remained really tacky and sticky even after a lengthy drying period. I’ve left them in milk crates outside hoping they’ll dry up a bit to not make a mess when setting.
    This normal?
Keep up the great content folks!

Usually happens when dipped in humid weather, my traps stayed really tacky for 6 months, I soaked in gas to strip it off . I spray paint my traps now , only speed dip I ever had good results with was Blackies.

We've had some come out tacky before but I find after a single use in the field that fades.

Just got some speed dip. Do you also wax your traps after this process?
