Please help me understand a little better. I just did a complete wiring job with TB422 and have everything working on the bike including blinkers,, horn, dimmer and have the headlight running and high beam come on without the bike running, not even using the yellow wire in the TB422 harness. I am currently using a Chinese 4 prong just like the one in this video but am wanting to use the OEM Honda switch. So it would be: 1) Chinese key switch green to Honda switch green 2) Chinese key switch black/white to Honda switch black 3) Chinese key red to what?, Honda switch yellow or brown/red?? I'm not even using the yellow wire in the TB422 and everything already works. Do I need to run new wiring to the headlight now and now have to use the yellow wiring somehow? 4) Chinese key switch black to what?? Honda key brown red or yellow? Sorry for my ignorance don't want to keep blowing fuses, starting to run out :)
It doesn’t matter which wire you hook to the red/brown wire of the stock switch…..red or black. Just connect the other wire to the yellow of switch. It sounds like you have the headlight connected to DC power, which does not require the engine to be running to work. The yellow wire in the TB422 harness is only used if you want the headlight to only work with engine running. If this is what you want, connect the yellow wire of the harness to the red/brown wire of the Hi/Lo switch.
Thanks for your response Mike, it is more than appreciated! I'm not the brightest bulb so please bare with me on the conclusion of getting this to work as it is still not clear to me. Yeah I definitely want the headlight/lo and hi to work without the bike running which is how it is already wired. I am assuming to do the following 1) TB422 switch harness red to Honda switch red/brown 2) TB422 switch harness black to Honda switch yellow 3) TB422 switch harness green to Honda switch green 4) TB422 switch harness black/white to Honda switch black?
@@MiniBikeMike1971 CT70 H Same switch you are showing on this video I have the trail buddy simple harness TB515 with Lifan 125cc engine . Stock Honda key switch to 4 wire male plug on TB515 harness. I can put the 4 wire female end on the Honda key switch but I would like to see what color to what color on the harness please . Thanks Mike sure do love your videos . Take care
Another excellent video. Never occurred to me that it may not work. I’ve been planning to use the stock switch on my CL70 with the Lifan. Glad to see I still can. 👍
If the OEM Honda switch has only two wires, a red and a black, I suppose you can just connect just those to the same color wires in the harness? Another CL issue. Ugh!
Mike, do you have a meter to check continuity? If so, check and make sure the two wires are connected in the “off” position and separated in the “on” position. If they are, connect the two wires of the key switch to the black/white and green in the harness. It doesn’t matter which wires are connected to each other.
Great video, my switch and harness are already installed. The brown/ red wire is just going to headlight bucket, what wire in harness puts power to the red/brown?
Hey boss. The original ct70 lock gets grounded to the frame when installed. For me, when I install the switch to the frame, I get no spark. when I uninstall the lock and leave it dangling in the air, I get spark. What can be my issue? I connected: China:::Original green to green black to yellow red to brown/red white/black to black The lock threads seem to have the coil wire connected to them, the white/black wire

@JoeSmith-sv4jn Yep, that all sounds correct.
Some great info brother thanks for sharing.
Can you show me how and what wires the factory switch attaches to on the trail buddy TB515 simple harness . I sure would appreciate it .
What model bike / what switches?

Just found out you were back Mike. One more subscriber added.

@@MiniBikeMike Yes I have a meter. I’ll check it and see, if so I’ll connect it as you’ve described. Thanks!
How do you hot wire a ct 70
Connect the black wire coming out of the engine directly to the black wire of the coil…..this will bypass the key and entire wiring harness.
Oh my gosh! So great to see you're back. I pray you and your family are well. Are there any plans to reload some of your old videos?
Thanks! Unfortunately, all the old stuff is gone. Hopefully, I can remake a lot of it and do a better job this time around.
Great Video! Thanks for making the video! It was me.
Second question. Can you use the stock speedo with a 12v motor? Do you have to put a 12v bulb in it?
Yep, just swap the 6v bulbs out for the 12v version of the same bulb.
@@MiniBikeMike thanks so much for responding so quickly
