first drafts being all vibes is absolutely it. that's what it is. nobody knows what's going on and tbh that's why it's my favorite thing to do writing-wise.
watching this video before i sit down to do some writing ✨️ it's been hard to fit writing in around uni starting recently so hoping this gives me that boost of inspiration
You approach your writing (process) with such grace and speak about it with such intellectual honesty. I find it really admirable and comforting (as a writer myself). So happy I found your channel :)
your videos have been helping me so much with my writing so much i usually have so much trouble with it i appreciate yoooooou love your vids keep it going
Only recently found your channel, it's so lovely. The way you talk about the importance of loving your book, about how it should be just for you, at least until you decide to dive into the quering process, is just so inspiring. Looking forward to following you from here on out!
"This blank page...I don't know what to do about it." Goodness if that's not a mood and a half. I almost want to get a mug of that quote or something. Haha 28:36 It's interesting how it works out that way. We (we? maybe just me, idk...) think of our stories as these things that we have absolute control over. We spend time analyzing everything. Each comma, period, ellipses is a deliberate choice that we make in order to evoke a certain feeling. And then we still get reactions that we never planned for. It's one of the most wonderful things about storytelling, but it also makes you wonder how much our words are actually ours. At what point does your story surpass (?) your own existence? Or does it not at all?
I like the idea that any book is publishable and marketable. Sometimes a niche market will be the most invested. And sometimes a book that doesn't match the rest of the shelf will start a trend of its own. That said, should it be considered selling out to write more for readers than for yourself? I'd like to think it shouldn't be. It's still an opportunity to share your voice which is, of course, important. Anyway, best of luck with all your pursuits. May the story stay sexy!
clemmie 🥹 i don't think i've ever written a first draft over 100k in my life so 120k is impressive to me!! loved this vlog and I so appreciated your thoughts on writing a book for yourself and not for the market. i'm looking forward to seeing the rest of tfh's drafting process!! and ofc I can't wait to read someday

i believe in the idea that a story is reborn every time someone new reads it. there's a version of it that belongs to me, and then to everyone else :)
