I met Robin at a Trek Convention 25 years ago in Pasadena CA .. I just saw her agin after all these years at the 2024 Vegas Trek Con a few weeks ago , the first thing I said to her was , I haven't seen you in 25 years .. she lights up like a Christmas tree , with that great energy and smile of hers , and we just talked like old friends . and that is Robin for you .. I am sure she didnt remember me from 25 years ago , I was like 19 or 20 back then , but I sure remembered her , pretty girl , tall , she is in my favorite Star Trek movie .. she is very sweet .. if you ever see her at convention , go say hello , you will not be disappointed , she is awesome ..
As a casual Trek fan this type of show is awesome because now I'm going to go back and pay attention to the roles and Star Trek scenes she's played. Great interview!
Great interview guys, Robin is such a live wire, absolutely love her. Keep up the great work guys this show just keeps getting better with every episode. Ed from South Australia 🇦🇺🍷🍷🍷
She could still rock an older Vulcan or Romulan character in the upcoming Academy ♥. Please cast her. Reminds me of Fionula Flanagan's V'lar in Enterprise, or Adrienne Barbeau/Megan Cole's DS9 Cretak. She could even be a new take on T'Pau.
I met Robin back in 2022 at Star Trek Vegas and she loved my yellow acrylic nails, took my hand on her's and admired them so sweetly. She is my favorite Saavik and is so sweet!
Robin Curtis is so much fun and great to meet at the cons - an absolute gem!! I loved hearing her stories. Thanks @D-ConChamberPod for this interview!! ❤💛💙🤓🖖🏾
I really, really like these videos. D-CON is THE Trek interview show to watch. Robin stepped into the Trek universe and hit it out of the park. I am not your typical Star Trek fan. Fan is short for fanatic, and that is just not me. I can follow and appreciate the Trek franchise without becoming obsessed with it. I've never been to a convention, etc. Now, I can't say the same for my son. He and his wife are split between Star Trek and Star Wars. As a pre-teen, my son was so deep into Star Trek, that I got him a 3-disc set of CDs, instructing how to speak Klingon. For many years, his Halloween costume was Trek themed. This holds true, even as an adult. He HAS been to conventions and has met many Star Trek actors. Recently, my son arranged for me to go with him to a meet and greet with William Shatner, in Charleston, WV. It was during COVID, so they kept a thick sheet of plexiglass between Shatner and the people. While I tried to understand that he is up in years and vulnerable to viruses, I was also disappointed that I was not allowed to even shake his hand.
@@PunksterNL In the original script draft, Saavik was pregnant with Spock's child (from the Pon Far ritual) and she stayed behind on Vulcan to have the baby. This idea was dropped.
Yeah... I know. I just posted a comment. But I gotta say that The D-Con Chamber is so f***ing awesome. I followed the previous channel. Glad to be on board here. While "Trek" in general, y'all delve well beyond "Trek". The actual interview itself is so enthralling. Y'all rock. Love you guys!
Oh my stars, I didn't recognize Connor or Dominic until, embarrassingly enough for me, about 60 seconds in. Robin Curtis is an amazing actress. Her Tallera and Saavik were both quite different and yet a touch similar. I love her work. Also: Robin, the episode you're trying to think of with the empath was just named "The Empath".
What a fantastic interview. Robyn is amazing and it is an honour to have this connection from the Golden Era of Star Trek. An absolute treasure. Best interview yet.
5:19 - Dominic, you’re only partially correct. Yes, when Wars hit all the studios scrambled to put out a sci-fi movie. However, Star Treks resurgence was most directly tied to it blowing up in strip syndication on broadcast TV at the time. It became very popular with people age 5-25. This would be around 1975. Paramount, a Gulf and Western Company at the time was interested creating the fourth major Network along side ABC, CBS, And NBC. They decided Star Trek Phase Two would be the flagship series on that network. They signed as much of the cast as they could. Nimoy was not coming back. They commissioned scripts. They built sets. This idea of being a series or a movie waffled back and forth for a bit as production costs continued. Then, in 77’ Wars hit and that clinched Trek’s fate. Paramount pushed it back to being a movie and rolled all the costs associated with it into the cumulative budget. TMP was the most expensive movie made for several years up until T2, I believe. There’s more after that. Several Books and articles covered it well then and now. But that’s how it went initially.
Robert Curtis is such a sweetheart met her I want to say around 95. But just a really nice person really goes in depth and telling you everything that happened with that character and everything that didn't happen that was supposed to happen.😊
The studios were already planning the Phase II Trek series with some production underway then Star Wars came out. They then decided to do the Motion Picture instead using many sets, etc. production elements already built for Phase II. Many Phase II stories and characters were retooled for TNG.
Given her real-life vivaciousness, she clearly sublimated her personality and nailed the Vulcan character. That's why I think she could still effortlessly slip back into a role in one of the new Trek shows
I so love that moment when women (or men) reach that point in their lives where they have made the realisation that no one really gives a damn about who you are ... and you can be *who* you are! I spent half of this episode with a grin on my face and that says all that needs to be said :D
I just saw her this past weekend at the QUIET CORNER SCI-FI & COMIC EXPERIENCE in Connecticut, and without a doubt, Robin is one of the most amazing people I will ever meet! Her effervescent personality accentuated by that glorious smile and laugh is the real deal! For her to be able to do this show, and to see her surrounded by fans makes me so happy for her, and for the D-Conn Crew! Great job guys!
Great to see another fun interview with Robin Curtis. Also, great to see you back on RUclips after an hiatus. Is that other show you two do still in production?

My favorite episode so far. No reflection on Kirstie Alley, but when I think of Saavik, it’s Robin who immediately comes to mind. I think Nimoy’s guidance really shows in her performance. She’s wonderful.
Hi Robin and Connor and Dominic. I was at the screening at Riverside Mall when Robin was there. I believe she also went to NY Mills high school with my cousin Michael.
Robin is a real estate agent? Could you imagine buying a house from the actress who played Saavik? She would know i need a room to display Star Trek memorabilia
The final episode of Enterprise, with the girls on Risa just about knocked me over with how gorgeous they were. Donna Marie Recco, I will never forget such beauty 😂
They should do an Archer spin off like they did with Picard. Bringing older crew back to help and an older Shen of the Andorians ? And Conner can do Flashback scenes as say this show's Data reprise/Memory clip's and a what if he hadn't died . With a section 31 and time war tie explanation .
Holy crap, does Robin Curtis GET Star Trek. I love her to pieces. [And I think Nimoy wanted her because she's so emotive. Vulcans are all about restraint not emotionless. Her performance was a brilliant display of control.]
@@johnnybravado7141 I think they could have made it work. She saw David murdered before her eyes, remember. We hadn't seen Saavik since Star Trek IV, so a lot could have happened to her that time. She could have fallen under the influence of those who wanted to see war with the Klingons, just like Valeris did. I just think having a character we already knew about be the traitor would have been better than a character that we haven't seen before.

I LOVE YOU ROBIN CURTIS! You played Saavik so well after Alley did a great job in the role. I thought you were a sexy as hell Vulcan too! There's something about Vulcan women!! 🤔❤
Thank you all! Robin's comments on Meryl Streep and Out of Africa (46 minutes in) resonated strongly with me. I was in my 20s and working at a university when that movie was released. My local theater gave Redford top billing on its marquee. Given that Streep played the film's entire focus and that Redford had only a minor role, I complained to the theater management, which brushed me off. At the university, I complained to a marketing professor, who said, simply, that women made far more decisions than men on what movie to go see. That confused me further, because I had viewed Streep/Blixen as a strong, independent woman and therefore as a role model. Slowly it dawned on me that Redford's name was meant to be the greater draw to the decision-making female audience -- which, given the ramifications of that kind of prioritizing, pissed me off even more.
It would be very much in LD's wheelhouse to bring back a character and an actor from an obscure niche of ST lore. And Saavik would be a great mentor/confidante for T'Lyn.
The original series was weirdly sexual for me too. I was first introduced to it by my father back in the early '70s when I was not yet over 5 years old. (If he were still alive today, he and I would be going to ALL the conventions) My earliest memories of Trek was being scared spitless by Balok's puppet, and admiring Grace Lee Whitney. I can attribute my early discovery of women to all of those minidresses on parade. Although I love Kim Cattrall in her role in the movie, I would have been interested in Robin as Saavik being the traitor in 'The Undiscovered Country' and I would still love Saavik. Support the character's choices? Eeh.
Yes. As both Disco and Enterprise revealed, people raised in the Vulcan cult of logic are perfectly capable of betrayal. In fact, when real life spies become double agents, it is usually for ideological reasons, not for money.
"Admiral... David. Is dead." She read that line perfectly for a Vulcan 🖖
I hope I get to meet Robin so I can ask her to recite that line😊
There was so much emotion BEHIND that delivery. Perfect supressed Vulcan

Robin Curtis was also briefly in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Just in the very beginning to drop her off on Vulcan. -OG
And wasn't there a thing about her character being pregnant at that point? Vaguely recall something along those lines.
@PunksterNL I don't recall anything like that. Maybe it was in a Star Trek novel? -OG
Was it ever confirmed that she "helped" Spock with pon farr in "Search for Spock"??
@@TylerD288 My guess is that Spock was aging too fast for pon farr to legitimately be completed. -OG

If Robin thought TOS was sexy she definitely needs to watch Enterprise for the scenes of Trip in his blue undies lol
