    Hi Jeff, thanks for the lovely vlog always appreciated and enjoyable.
    When I saw the red Narrowboat on the intro, I thought "at last" Gladys is in the water 😢 disappointed she wasn't 😢
    However she can't be long now before she is Chugging along with you at the Tiller ?
    Each week I keep my fingers crossed 🤞 for you as I suppose the other Subscribers do.
    Take care and stay safe out there 😊

      Hi John! Thank you for the encouraging comment - as always! I did enjoy filming this one and vented some of my frustration when doing the racing commentary at the racecourse. It was spur of the moment stuff - which almost all of my narration is, but felt funny to me at the time!
      Ah, sorry about the red boat. But it stood out as soon as I saw it too, and also my partner's sister is Rachel, as that boat was named - so I simply had to include the footage for her sake!
      I'll tell you what I've been told most recently by Aintree Boats...which is that Gladys is stalled owing to them not having her engine delivered. They told me that the engine builder took the engine - along with engines from other people waiting in the queue there alongside me - to the Southampton Boat Show, which ends today I think. So maybe they'll get it delivered this coming week I hope - but I have to say that getting clarity on the situation is like pulling teeth from a large, hungry horse with just a pair of tweezers...
      Rest assured that I am trying my best but it looks to me that some time in October is the best I can hope for now - I am very long past the disappointed stage now. My only consolation John, comes from the fact that there are several other Aintree buyers who are in the same situation as me - but also, from the continued support of yourself and my other wonderful subscribers. There are nearly 900 of you now and I really do appreciate it!👍👍👍👍👍

    I'm amazed that the people can hear that bell of yours, nice that most made an effort to check on hearing it.

      Thanks Barry! yes, its only small, and is the standard bell that comes with the bike. Its quite high pitched and most people hear it, - but not all, and I need to resort to a polite shout of "HELLO!"... meaning "get out of the bloody way!"

      Yes, Worcester's got some great buildings Madison.👍Oddly, I've not gone into the cathedral yet - I don't know why! With luck, I will cruise Gladys down to Worcester sometime and then spend a couple of days having a proper look around. 😊

    Great vlog as always. Under the skin I can’t imagine the frustration at not being on your new boat. In my early days search I’m most definitely avoiding looking at that make now. As you and another vlogger have the same experience. Every best wish and let’s hope it’s genuine good news re Gladys. Every best wish 🎉

      Hiya Trevor - thanks as always for a great comment! Yes, the frustration is wearing me down. Two years now since I first ordered the boat - although in fairness I knew back then that they wouldn't start the build til December 2022, but its now more than 12 months past the completion date I was quoted. It's not a great advert for Aintree Boats - nevertheless their prices are still very competitive and most owners seem happy once they get them. As with all things, it's worth looking around to see what else is on offer!
      If I get some news this week, I'll post an update! Cheers - all the best! 😁

    Have you got your own following in the duck, goose and swan communities?
    And can anyone answer this, why has the painted signage of the ‘Diglis Hotel’, got a full stop after the ‘l’ in the hotel word?

    • @Gladysthenarrowboat
      @Gladysthenarrowboat  4 месяца назад

      Yes indeed I do DC. That swan at Diglis Marina came over to me entirely without prompting - as did another one, exactly the same thing, (when I wasn't filming at the time), further up the canal just after lock 3... my fame is obviously widespread amongst our feathered friends!😁🦢🪿🦆

    • @Gladysthenarrowboat
      @Gladysthenarrowboat  4 месяца назад

      Well, what an observant fellow you are DC! Mind you, it's a square shape, so not a conventional full stop. But as to the question itself, I have no idea - if anyone else has a thought, do let us know!

    Hi Jeff. great video about Worcester and the river and canal. Thanks for the shout out on the video but unfortunately I wasn't there on Wednesday. My usual day at Diglis locks is on a Monday. I did get the satire on the racecourse race. I have read your previous comment about Gladys's delivery and hope that the engine can be repatriated and fitted for you. Fingers crossed!

    • @Gladysthenarrowboat
      @Gladysthenarrowboat  4 месяца назад +2

      Hi Kevin!
      Thanks very much - glad you liked the video - and the satire at the races!
      I usually go out filming on Mondays or Tuesdays - which are best, as it takes the pressure off for editing, whereas going Wednesday, or even a Thursday, means I have to rush it in time for Saturday. But I could only manage Wednesday this time. I was very disappointed not to see you, but maybe next time we'll have more luck. 🤞I'll remember Mondays!
      Yes, the saga of engine delivery... I can't really say here how I truly feel about that - or of the whole experience, but its great to know that so many such as yourself are crossing your fingers and waiting to see Gladys finished. Many thanks and keep up the good work at Diglis! 😁

    Morning Jeff, you had a nice bit of weather Wednesday for the ride, shame about the long bus trip though. Makes you appreciate trains even more.
    Some tidy looking boats there, rubbing salt in the wound for you seeing the red one.
    The first Border in the video looked exactly like the one I walk just before she had a recent haircut, little hairy bear!!

    • @Gladysthenarrowboat
      @Gladysthenarrowboat  4 месяца назад

      Morning Annie! Yes I was lucky with the weather on Wednesday (unlike today, its not looking like a nice weekend out there), and although I quite enjoyed the bus ride to Worcester (only 6 of us on there), the ride back was horrendously slow, and a load of people got on at Ledbury for the last leg to Hereford. I do love going on trains, so hopefully this won't happen again 🤞
      Yes, every time I visit canals it makes me annoyed that Gladys's completion has descended into a total farce, which I am living out in public view 😠
      Those Border Terriers cheered me up no end. If I decide to get another dog, it'll definitely be one of those - in that colouring too. Mine used to look very scruffy before he had a haircut too! 😁

      @@Gladysthenarrowboat I can just see you on Gladys with a Border wearing a floatation jacket!
      Looking at the heavy rainfall we've been having of late I think it'd be quite worrying aboard right now with water levels rising. Hopefully we're not going to get a repeat of the damaging flooding seen last time.
      I think I'd have given up a long time ago if I'd been waiting for Gladys as long as you have, as you say others are too or I'd be looking for a refund I think by now.
      I've had some very bad experiences of promised services of one kind or another over the years & I know the heavy sick feeling in your gut as you start to realise you're being let down very badly yet again by someone.
      Crossing fingers for you isn't helping my trigger finger!

    • @Gladysthenarrowboat
      @Gladysthenarrowboat  4 месяца назад

      Aww... thanks Annie, yeah, a Border would be a wonderful companion. And he'd probably steal the show too! I haven't ruled out the idea. 🤔
      Raining cats and dogs here today, but I'm hoping to get out tomorrow to do some filming for this Saturday.
      As for the Gladys saga... sadly the contract doesn't allow for a refund, but yes, I have at times felt like throwing in the towel. The fact that other buyers are stuck in the same bowl of cold soup as me does help though - and I am in touch with several of them regularly. I'll be chasing Aintree again this week.
      Ouch - sorry about your finger! You can uncross them now and then if you need to Annie - hopefully you'll be clapping your hands instead before too long!
      Thanks as always, for your steadfast support - its much appreciated!👍😁

    Hi Jeff. Sorry you had to endure the replacement buses. Always a longer journey due to road conditions etc, but they got you there and back which is what mattered.
    Looks like you had another enjoyable out Jeff and the weather looked good too. Worcester is lovely place and I have to agree with you about the building and the brickwork on the railway viaduct and the road bridge going over the river, architectural skills at their best.
    Nice views of the canal and the marina, did you cycle along that short jetty next to Rachel? A brave man if you did. I'm always envious of those who own canal side properties. My dream would be to have a garden leading down to canal, a private mooring and a not too small narrowboat to use in the summer months. I live in hope.
    By the way, you got my mouth watering at the thought of seeing a nice tray of cod and chips.....you blighter.
    See you in the next video, hopefully with some positive news on Gladys. You should have passed 900 subscribers by then 🤞 Take care Jeff.

      Hi Dave! Thanks as always for a great comment. 👍
      Yeah, I was very glad to see they had laid on a replacement bus as far as Worcester and I quite enjoyed the ride there. Not so good coming back! These things happen though and up to now, I've suffered very little disruption on my rail travels.
      I just wheeled the bike up onto that jetty Dave - it was little more than about a metre across - but the thought of riding up to the end, I can truly say, NEVER entered into my head!
      Yes, I've seen lots of dream houses next to canals now. I wonder if the inhabitants appreciate how lucky they are. I too, would love a house with garden down to the canal and my own mooring place 😊 This really is a divided country, when some folk can enjoy such a privileged life.
      As for the fish n chips... to be honest, I went in there and stood at the counter, but was completely ignored by at least two women behind the counter, and after a minute, I simply turned and walked out. That kind of customer service gets me very annoyed and I leave... usually I mutter something appropriate under my breath as I walk out! Happily, I found salvation in the Cornish Pasty Shop soon afterwards 😁 A shame though, as the chippie did look very promising.
      894 subscribers as I type this Dave! As I replied to John earlier - thanks so much for sticking with me while we live through the record attempt for slowest boat builds in history...
      Fingers crossed I will have more cheerful news about Gladys next time! 🤞

    The viaduct at 7:15 could do with a steam clean to transform it from an eye sore back to a beautiful visitor attraction.

      Hi and thanks for the comment! Yes, the arches do look a bit sad - if the brickwork was restored to original, it would be a tremendous sight. I guess most people don't even give it a second's thought as they walk by. Mind you - it'd be the hell of a job to take on!

    Strange vlog very mixed not really sure what it's all about....... Train, racecourse, river, canal, bridges, bikes, just quick clips of not a lot really. But at least you had a go so well done for that.

    • @Gladysthenarrowboat
      @Gladysthenarrowboat  4 месяца назад

      Hi John, thanks for taking time to comment - and for watching the video. I don't think anyone has described my films as 'strange' before - although I daresay others may have thought that!
      If you want to see very 'strange', and have 5 minutes spare, have a look at my other channel:
      "University of Abertillery", or @ViraMay-b1y It is an irreverent take on life, but I know it won't appeal to everyone.
      As for Gladys the Narrowboat - I started the channel in early 2023, after ordering my boat Gladys. I was told she'd be completed by Summer 2023, so I began making vlogs of canals in anticipation of my travels on Gladys later in the year. Lots of boaters make vlogs as you may know, but I wanted to get a head start on how to edit etc. Since then, the boat-build has descended into a saga which is starting to give Eastenders a run for its money.
      Anyway, thankfully my subscribers seem to like what I do and fall mainly into two camps - those who are interested in canals, narrowboats / Gladys's build - and those who are Brompton bike owners/lovers. Some of my vlogs are likely to be of more interest to one set or the other, but if I can, I try to offer something for all of them. I really appreciate my subscribers and get a lot of nice comments and likes, which is great!
      This particular vlog may have seemed 'busy' to you but if you have time, do take a look at some of my others - @Gladysthenarrowboat Ive covered many canals now and have made several specific videos in and around Worcester.
      This video was just a snapshot of a 2.5 hour circular ride around Worcester, and I particularly wanted to include the racecourse, as I've not featured it before. Trains, bikes, canals, old constructions and boats, are things I am attracted to, so inevitably they were going to be in it!
      Once my boat is completed, (I'm not betting my oldest shirt on it being any day soon), the style of my videos will change as I'll spend most of my time on the canals then, but I will still feature the Brompton a lot, since it'll be my main means of getting to shops/sightseeing etc.
      I just wanted to give you an idea of where this video comes from, and hope you may feel some of my others are more to your liking. But its perfectly fine not to like them and I do appreciate your comments in any case.
      Thanks and best wishes,
      Jeff
