Have been doing a "Bach Binge" for his birthday. This sounds very Bach and brings out some of the lighter parts. The fortress is not only mighty, but welcoming here. From Chicago, U.S.A.
Highly impressed by your consummate skill and good taste. You should have this published (if it's not already). And the organ sounds wonderful, as well. Many thanks for sharing this exciting improvisation. 👍💞
Dear brother, the Protestants (including myself) must thank the Catholic Church, because the Roman Church was the guardian of the knowledge of the Western, including music! The music as we know was developed by the catholics. And for this I'm so grateful; God Bless catholics, protestants and sacred music! Greetings from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
@@diogolimaorquestra wonderful all faiths can enjoy music, so many of the great hymns come from Bach, Luther and so many other great Lutheran musicians we still hear today.
The little organ that could. Nice solo stops and good balanced plenum. A nice set of variations. Very canonic but they worked quite well. I enjoyed the fugues and your registration choices. Again showing a side of play the organ that is not so easy to do well. You have done it admirably Balint. Thanks for sharing once again.
I particularly loved the 'Aus tiefer Not' inspired fugue. Let me congratulate you on the service you are rendering to the organ world by your carefully explained videos.
Such a beautiful video with exquisitely performed music. Thank you for posting the registrations at the beginning of each variation. What a joy it must have been to hear this performed live!

Very nice counterpoint. Lovely music. If these sort of videos keep coming then I think we are looking at an upcoming internet organ celebrity. And a fugue in five parts with double pedal, that's an exciting final variation; I was already noting your skill before you even got that far!
Unfortunately we live in a society which does not widely celebrate people with real skill, such as organists. A tub of yogurt has more culture than most people these days. However, I second your thought that this young man has a level of skill and ability which justly deserves celebration, and I join you in celebrating it.

Meisterhaft. More than an enjoyable improvisation, a fascinating one. I almost thought you were going to play both parts of a fugue in the pedal. Long unheard in the Catholic church, in the 1970s, I played it as a recessional at a Catholic wedding mass. No one seemed to recognize it, and a parishioner asked later if the tune had words. I said, "probably." 😇
Nice job! Everything was great about this piece, especially the double pedal in the final fugue. Very interesting registration choices, especially the liberal use of 16 foot stops. I can't wait to hear this on my home system with decent speakers; my phone does not do this fine performance justice!

Smart!!! I love this melody also a Hymn in the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa. But also well known for Opera lovers as the Huguenots main theme. You have great talent Wish I could hear you our Cities Organ in Port Elizabeth ZA!
Mr. Karosi, have you published this improvisation? That is something that you should consider, as well as an expansion of the previous improvisation at Arnstadt. Thank you so much for this video.
Wonderful and brilliant performance. I do have a question. In the early performances, as a younger musician, you were more physically animated and expressive. What was the lesson that you have learned and who was instrumental in teaching you to present yourself in a less physically demonstrable manner. Was this self taught by observation? Maturity as a musician? Less energy expended physically but more refined technique and expressive now, especially with your creative improvisation.
Originally (before RUclips!) you couldn't see the organist, so really your question is superfluous. A pianist or a violinist may be an expressive contortionist. But not an organist!
@@classicaldeb Because it's unnecessary. You can't see the organist. A concert instrumentalist is center stage in front of a large audience, so they put on much more of a show of body language.
@@JoshuaSobel Hmm, I don't think so. The question is, who, or what, caused you to be less physically animated when playing the organ. Correct? My answer is, because it's pointless. Nobody can see it! (except on YT). Why is a conductor so animated when on the podium? Because the whole auditorium is watching him/her! In rehearsals, they are not so demonstrative. In fact Sergiou Celibadache used to conduct in a sitting position. A lot of it is all show. The audience wants this. They think it's great. An organist is more of an introvert. He/she doesn't need all this freaking out nonsense.
He added a 1/3 stop to one variation, though it doesn't say it on the screen. It adds a sound that you would normally only hear as a harmonic overtone as a played note. It's a little distracting at times, even to someone who has listened to a lot of organ music (me), but does add color.
@@bkarosi Not note by note, but I think some improvs are more organized/prepared than others. At least here, you said "Ein feste Burg," so you have memorized part of it even though you didn't have the entire thing worked out. If you watch piano musicians on Twitch, they are mostly improvising the music they play. I think I opened a can of worms by debating whether something is improv or composition. I apologize for starting this argument.
