RUclips recommendation you did well.
The game company should hire you as an ambassador to explain the full gameplay...
Though, I'm not Chinese, I was BLESSED to have seen the TV show in the mid 90s. It was shown on a local channel in NYC. So, I definitely GASPED and got goose bumps when I heard the theme song. This is an absolutely great review!
This game already seems to mean much to us westerners, just because of its sheer beauty and references to a story that we're only vaguely aware of. I never knew how much more it means to the Chinese.
RUclips algoritm is really good this time
Awesome video
I think almost every Asian person has watched Journey to the West growing up. Journey to the West is my all time favorite story. I use to have dreams of being Sun wukong haha. I love how much the story references real Buddhist values and teachings. I’m so excited for this game.
This is cool 👍
Fantastic video
Very nicely done.....
Just to add the book was originally written in the 1500's. I have read it since i was 6 to 8 (basically when I can read, not uncommon in china since this book is popular). Goku from DBZ is adaptation of the Wukong the Monkey king. In Naruto when Orichimaru first attacked the village and Saratobi summons the monkey to help him, that is the same reference to Wukong the money king. One of the Jinchuuriki is kinda based on him also. There are many other anime reference to him that I probably forgot.
Remember that time Wukong went to hell and found that book of everyone that's going to die, and then he found his name and just inked his name out! LMAO
When that title music plays I almost teared up oh my god childhood!!! I’m not Chinese but Journey to the West was huge in South East Asian countries as well. I remember growing up watching the drama and reading the illustrated book for children. This is so cool I wish I could play the game too XD
Greetings from Hungary!
Before LOTR, there was Journey to the West.
The 3 disciples names: Wukong means "Enlightened to non-substantiality". Wuneng means "Enlightened to Life Potential". Wujing means "Enlightened to Purity"
Finally. A commentary that addresses and bridges the gap between Chinese/Eastern and Western reviewers. While I had seen many Chinese reviewers who gave indepth reviews, opinions and explanations to the lore, your video is done in English and easy to understand. Great!
As a Chinese from Taiwan, this existence of this game was absolutely mind blowing to me. I can't contain the hype haha
Thank you for the wonderful cultural translation.
Let's just give up on Hollywood and let the stories/sagas/tales be retold by game developers.
