Bob Toski was a great instructor, complete with a glint in his eye and a touch of cheek - this video is gold for the intermediate golfer struggling to understand what components really do - a simple message herein - enjoy

Bob Toski was a great golf instructor. He knew the grip creates the proper hand action.
It all begins with the grip to play superior golf. ⛳

The best info I've come accross regarding Hogan's action was Tom Bertrand via John Schlee. Started breaking par when I was a teen but never hit the ball so straight before.

Working through Five Lessons I discovered one of the secrets to Hogan’s power was creating twisting resistance in his back leg in his extended takeaway outside the hands moving hips, shoulders and hands together by squaring the back foot which literally locks the hips 45° closed and abruptly stops the backwards momentum of the club causing the force to act on the weakest point between left shoulder and club head at the point, the wrists. The wrists don’t cock the club the club cocks the wrists thumbs-up with radial deviation so much the force pulls the arms up and the shoulders around past the stuck hips with the back leg twisted like a flexed torsion bar as it straightened and pushed the right hip back and forward to target very much like how the linear movement of a piston acting through a connecting rod rotates a crankshaft. It creates tremendous hip firing force in the downswing which isn’t felt in the modern swing style popularized by Nicklaus where the shoulders start first then pull hips around and the back leg stays bent at the knee. In that swing style there is more stretching torque built up across the back than in the back leg and hips.
Hogan’s downswing was triggered by a small lateral -> sway of the hips to the target. The hips wound-up like a twisted rubber band fire forcefully but as in the backswing get ‘stuck’ when 45° open before impact IF the back heel is kept on the ground. If feels like the left hip is hitting a wall as the hips momentarily lock 45° open. Because of the way he gripped and lowered his club at address when his hips “hit the wall” in the downswing before impact the hands slow down their forward motion causing the club head force to whip the club head around the hands. That is why the club shaft blurs and bents forwards ( at that point and the wrist also blur because they are changing orientation so quickly in three different directions. Lead wrist: pronation to supination; extension to flexion, and just before impact radial deviation to ulnar deviation. Trail wrist: Supination to pronation; flexion to extension, and; radial to ulnar deviation “hammer’ action. At impact Hogan’s wrists were maxed out in opposite directions which is why he was able to hit so consistently accurately.
That last action, radial to ulnar deviation in the last few inches before impact is a thumbs-down action which is similar to cracking a whip or hammering a nail. It really adds a final burst of acceleration to the club and completes the squaring of the face to the target as the ball compresses and releases off the face. It was written that the sound of Hogan’s shots was different, crisper sounding, than his contemporaries. It was due to that final burst of acceleration with the snapping of the wrists down through the ball to close the face while using the supination and flexion in lead wrist and extension in the back to lag the club head behind the hands.

Hogan was actually left-handed, and he told my father at The Masters it was the worst mistake he ever made switching to right-handed. Fact;)

I was gonna say this. So many talk of Hogan like they know him and his swing, but can't actually hit it worth a lick.
