*also the soundtrack isn't nearly as good as previous entries, but the sound effects are really cool! Here's all of the Space Quest episodes on Friday Night Arcade and thank you for 5 awesome years on RUclips!
SPACE QUEST ON FNA: ruclips.net/video/luWOkTPiMJs/видео.html
Please do spacebar next! I loved that game back in the late 90s
Cool video! At the time we were pretty proud of Space Quest 6. The animation and voice acting felt right on par with the bigger franchises like Kings Quest 7. But it is a bummer that Sierra quickly imploded and will probably never see a proper sequel.
Thanks for checking out the show. It's really neat to see how far the series had come from a simple parsor adventure to a sprawling CD-ROM game with voice acting and animation. Would have loved to see what a real SQ7 would have looked like. SQ3 was my intro to the series and PC adventure games in general and there will always be a romance with this series for me.
love you metal jesus!
Congrats on 5 years! Love the content!
Thank you, Eric.
I've watched all of these Space Quest videos of yours in order now, and I've really enjoyed it. Totally hits that nostalgia factor, as I grew up on the Space Quest, Police Quest, and King's Quest games, and although I loved them back then, I'd like to play them again now, as I think I might get more of the jokes that I missed now that I'm older. Thanks for the great series of videos
Hey thanks, Fred!
never played this series, but i love these series of videos sooo much, recently found the channel, since then i have been binge watching every episode from earliest to latest, plz keep these vids coming they are great coverage and show how cool some of these classic games really are!
Sweet I've been waiting for this! These games seemed so much harder when I was a kid.
lol yeah they did.
I honestly still adore the pixelart backgrounds in this game, they're so detailed and it's clear how much work went into them. Although if you haven't played it before, I'd really recommend giving the demo version a shot. It was it's own little side-story, and was honestly WAY better paced than the full game.
Never played Space Quest...but I did have that MAD magazine Star Trek issue. Happy Anniversary!
I never played any of the space quest games but luckily with your great videos I get to feel like I have. Kudos!
As someone who was loyally dedicated to sierra and every Quest game this one slid past me....which seems like a good thing. Good review and congrats on the five year mark.
Thank you, Cameron.
Friday Night Arcade is an instant click on Friday morning
Thank you for watching.
The space quest vids are my personal favorite on this channel. Great video as always.
I played a remastered version of the Kings quest series a few years back on console. The game was fun to play and it was cool to see the updated graphics. I can only hope that they do the same for the Space quest series! Thanks for a trip down memory lane!
"That's not a request Rojer, if you want out, put on the damn suit."
That made me laugh really hard.
grats on 5 years! I've fallen behind on your uploads but I'm catching up =) I would love to see more adventure game coverage as they are my absolute favorites
I've been waiting for this episode!!! Thx FNA! I'll be watching this tonight!!!
Thank you, Ricardo.
Don't be so hard on yourself. I loved that episode and it was one of the first that I watched.
Congratulations on 5 years!
Thank you for the kind words, Michael.
You're most welcome.
Congratulations on 5 years!!! Cheers!
Thank you!
Congrats on 5 years! Glad I found your channel
Thanks, Sean!
Huh, I didn't know there was a proper Space Quest 7 planned at some point. I thought the cancelled PS2/Xbox 3D Platformer was meant to be the next Space Quest, but I guess it was just going to be a reboot in retrospect. Either way, it's sad - never a good thing to see a series like this just left to hang out there like that :/
Congratulations on the anniversary, btw! This is a fantastic, wildly underrated retro game channel, and I'm super happy it exists and has pumped out so much high-quality content over the years. You've done a fantastic job! Thanks for the great vids and reviews :D
Thank you for the kind words.
Another awesome episode.
That ending song is hilarious.
I've never played the Space Quest games. I need to jump on this series.
Great vid again Aaron. You never fail to entertain bud. I live vicariously through you with these text adventures cause I didn't own a PC as a kid. Definitely hit up some Kings Quest, From Beyond: Prologue, and that other one that came out last year or the year before that was a fan made game that looked like the Macventure Series games (Survivor?) And then maybe some Shadowgate Remastered? All pretty darn good games. Thanks again man!
Did it again...awesome job, congrats on 5th year, hope many more for you
My first exposure to the series was on my friend's Macintosh with Space Quest IV back around the time it came out. I was around 11 and had an NES along with a C64. I was totally floored with the graphics, sound and just the alien nature of the game when compared to what I had played up until that point, excepting maybe Shadowgate on the NES. So a few years later I got a job at Sears selling computers (a 16 year old kid working commissioned sales, I got real lucky), so naturally I bought a PC from them, a blazing fast Pentium 60! Bought this as soon as it came out. Must admit I was a bit disappointed by it. The graphics were pretty great and of course the voice over work was just genuis. I mean they hired the perfect guy for the job. I dunno, maybe it was due to age or something but I wasn't as captivated by this as I was IV. Still kind of a fun playthrough though.
Yep. Still waiting for Space Venture. It has been over 7 years waiting for this one. Trying NOT to give up hope!! SQ was my favorite game series.
Congrats, and hope to see more playthroughs on your other channel for many years to come.
Five years- congrats. And to think it's been even longer since backing SpaceVenture. Fingers crossed that next update is the release announcement.
Oh, and great ending to the video. :D
Thanks Qun. Yeah lol, technically I mentioned Space Venture in my very first video and we're still waiting. It's hard to make video games.
Excited to watch this, this was the only one I never really got a chance to play!
Congrats on 5 years!
Happy 5th Anniversary my friend. Here’s to another 10!
Thank you, Reagan.
Happy 5th anniversary ! Keep the videos coming !
Thank you for the kind words.
Never even knew about this franchise until your clips
I didnt have a PC until like windows 95
Always talking about text adventure games from long ago I used to play 'Police Quest' be cool to see FNA cover that one
Congratulations for 5 years 😍😍
Thank you!
I've only, somehow, just discovered your great channel! Excellent review, I loved the 'Space Quest' series growing up (and still do), and the other Sierra / LucasArts classics. SQ3 was actually the first game I ever played on the PC, and I went on to play the rest of the series in order (bar SQ5 which for some reason I couldn't get hold of for years!). SQ6 is an odd one - still really good, but quite different in it's feel, maybe due in part to the lack of involvement by the original Two Guys, and there's an oddly downbeat vibe underlying much of it. If I recall, there's one or two annoyingly pixel-perfect things in puzzles that were easy to get wrong. I found the sci-fi and pop culture references in there for sake of a joke are upped to the max with this one, whereas in the earlier ones they were generally more passing.
Also, whilst I'm very proud to say that I completed all of the others (well, minus SQ5), on my own long in the the days before the 'net was there for walk-throughs, that darned 'logic circuit' thing totally got me on SQ6 and I never got past it! I spent HOURS going back checking for clues or something I had missed, to no avail... I had bought the game in a jewel case at a computer event, not realising the manual would be needed... that was a harsh puzzle that totally killed the game. Actually, I'm trying to remember if I ever did complete it now internet help is there... if not I really should go back and do so!
Looking forward to playing through your other reviews, would love to see some other classic Sierra / LucasArts games covered as well. :)
Loved the review; good production work.
Come to Chicago and have a beer on me for your anniversary!
I'm still waiting for Space Quest XII: Vohaul's Revenge II. Probably get it before GTA 7
LOL@"Soylent Clear"
Dammit, now I want some Soylent Clear! That fake commercial is better than most commercials today.😉
Great video. Love your channel. Your very inspiring
Thank you for the kind words.
It will be good to see the space quest series on consoles. Just like maniac mansion 2. The day if the tentacle.
As a massive fan of the SQ series I really felt this one let the rest of them down. Still a fun game though.
BTW it was fantastic voyage they were parodying, not inner space.
Thank you! Thank you. Thank YOU. THANK you. Thank you! Thank you....
Sierra Quest games nearly ruined my love of adventure games. I really disliked the "stuck in unwinnable situation" . Then I played a gem that saved me from the hate, The Secret of Monkey Island. I am happy now that games tend to avoid that issue now.
Loved these games, along with King's Quest and the other Sierra classics. SQ3 was my first in the series and my favorite. 6 was actually my least favorite, it just seemed too ridiculous and very glitchy. 4 and 5 were great too.
I will not Play any of those Games. So thank you for playing them for me 😋
Leisure suit larry!!!!!
It was funny
I was hoping he’d review space quest VI
Quest for Glory series please!
:)
sounds like mdk's kurt
Speaking of being lost in a strange place, do you think that the "Non-Critical Systems Maintenance Chief," named "Ryley Robinson" on board the Alterra flagship "Aurora" is a product of the "Space Quest 6" hookup? He's the not-often-seen main character in "Subnautica." where an ordinary person has to make his way on/in unexplored ocean planet 4546B. Get on board the escape pod, "Passenger #00FU, the ship's about to crash! ruclips.net/video/bwi12tpZc2w/видео.html
Hmmmm.... perhaps!?!!
Those were the days where the only good PC games were point and clicks with maybe watching 8 bit p*rn.
You know you kinda suck at this "only releasing a video every two weeks" thing. Keep up the great work!
:D
Why can’t they continue it. The 2 guys should be able to
Sierra owns the rights to the SQ materials... Sadly.
Honestly, the best part of SQ6 was its unique standalone demo. I was so disappointed when I played the main game. I'd been pretty 'meh' on SQ V, but at least it still basically felt like a Space Quest game. This was just a cobbled-together mess with bad pacing and genuinely ugly art. And why does Santiago have such a wrinkly forehead? Seriously, who approved those character designs?
It just makes me sad, looking at how the quality of Sierra's output started really going downhill after 1993 or so.
I've read about that demo but never had a chance to try it. At some point I'm gonna do a feature on fan-made SQ games, unreleased content (SQ7 stuff) and plan to include the demo in that somehow. Basically the demo was entirely separate content from what ended up in the game, from what I understand? It was a tumultuous time for Sierra ... people were getting fired, budgets were getting slashed, etc. Profits were going up but budgets and programmers salaries were being cut. Corporate greed and all of that. To read interviews from Scott and Mark about those last days it sounded like a crap-show. It's unfortunate but that's how it goes sometimes.
Friday Night Arcade Yeah, different puzzles, dialogue, and situation from what I remember. Spoofed the Borg if I remember right (they turned the crew into cubes).
@@FridayNightArcade Also, don't forget about the VGA remake of SQ1! I thought the "space age" retro vibe really worked well for the series.
Whomever owns the rights would be smart to either support/buy SpaceVenture or perhaps work on SQ7; kind of sad this is a dead genre
