- It was a week of arrivals and departures at the chateau. Ian returned in time to save dinner for our b&b guests, new volunteer Yu Jou arrived from Taiwan, and our naughty hedgehog made a most unexpected return. Talented photographer Renee arrived with Wendy, to make exciting plans for a 2020 Photo Festival of Women at Lalande! And the lovely Natalia left, but not before we got matching nighties at the home of couturier Reinhard Luthier 💙💙
If you're interested in joining us for the Photo de Femmes Festival Weekend from the 19th-21st June, and unleashing your inner goddess on the world, message me here or email me at reservations@chateaudelalande.com
Weekend packages are available from €595 for two people sharing a room, which includes a bedroom in the chateau, a private tour of the exhibition, a private photoshoot with the amazing Renee Jacobs (dressed or undressed, as you wish!), and a lavish dinner with all the Lalande regulars and Renee and Wendy!

Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
This weekly vlog follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️
Did you know a group of hedgehogs is called a prickle! .. isn't that sweet..
Lucky Stephanie owning the entire collection of pigeons paintings
I went back and I'm watching all your videos as I said the other day when did Natti come back to stay permanently? I was saying Natie can't leave she lives there now lol 😂 much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
You have always so many wonderful and interesting people at your Chateau. It's so lovely.
Love that sweet baby in the bag. I’m addicted to this channel. Merci. Blessings 🐶🐾🐾
Your knowledge of how to fix your boiler heat is astonishing 🤯 my hats off to you.... don’t see that to often in the US. Awesome job.
I am so glad I found your videos Stephanie, you're an absolute joy to watch and your home is beautiful. It is also a great comfort to find someone of a similar age making videos too. I have been thinking of giving up vlogging but if other people enjoy watching my videos like I enjoy watching yours then it is worth it for those moments of escape! Have a wonderful New Year. xx
Nicki Positano please don't stop making your lovely videos. I appreciate them very much. Linda
Well, any friend of Stephs is probably worth watching. I just subscribed
I know this a late response, but I'm so glad you didn't stop vlogging Nicki- I love the Positano Diaries! and that how I found the Chateau Diaries- Thank you both of you for sharing your lives in these wonderful vlogs
I don't know precisely what it is about your videos that I find so compelling but my chihuahua and I can barely wait for Thursday afternoon to watch "the Chateau Diaries". I usually forget the Sunday episode until I sign in to youtube from boredom and there you are to perk up our day. Duke comes running when I yell auntie Stephanie is on! (probably because of the treats he gets to keep him quiet...lol. again I envy your hedgehog collection!. I thought they semi-hibernated this time of year?
I'm blessed with chihuahua's they are not much bigger than the hedgehog, but my girls are bossy the hedgehog seems very good nature d.
Watching in August 2023 😆
LOVE the pigeons...LOVE the sweater...LOVE seeing the steps...LOVE the patisseries...LOVE the parties....LOVE Scotland , my Fathers family are Scott’s.... LOVE your friends...LOVE your visits❣️
My dad raised Pigeons....Rollers were very interesting as you throw then up in the air and then clapp your hands and they roll downward.
I loved the Jumper on you with all the baubles!
Lovely hedgehogs ❤️
Now I remember where pigeon prints from 😊they look fantastic now hanging in the pigeon tower 😀 x😊
I love all your great bargain finds, you have such a beautiful life, your chateau is so beautiful thanks again for sharing
It was lovely to have a small walk-through your chateau, Stephanie.
Hi Sylvie, every time we are given a peek of the chateau. I'm amazed at the size and colors.
So fun watching these old videos. 🦋
How did Stephanie fix the heating system buzz????? I love the boulangerie and who wouldn't want a hedgehog in the laundry basket? The videos are wonderful.
Fabulous as always Stephanie 💛 Love that you are hosting a Photo Festival Celebrating Women - This is something which I passionately support and encourage. We have been created with such purpose & power. Over the years I have seen, that by creating a platform for ladies to embrace all their differences & celebrate their true worth - false fears and comparisons are replaced with joy and healing both physically and spiritually. Awesome. Beautiful blessings Mandy 👑SA
The hedgehogs are so very cute. They are no fools. Spending the winter at the chateau.
Oh, I'm watching this in July 2020 and June has just passed - I'm so very sorry you folks were not able to have this photo event. (I'm also very glad things are going so well for you anyway!)
Luckily they did quite a bit later! Delayed but not ended ❤️
@@joannacasey5464 Yes, I've caught up to the present and I've been watching the vlogs showing the set-up of the exhibit. It's lovely, and the photos of Isabelle made me cry. ❤️
love your wee hedgehogs ...... very smart to stay with you during the winter! Another great vlog. thank you for all the fun and smiles you bring to my day.
Yes jazzy I always end with a smile after viewing.
that pink dress ohlala! So many lovely things you got to buy..radiators are a pain lol
Ever so jealous of your hoggie infestation! Such dear little creatures...I'd adore such little friends in my house...I am certain my puppies would welcome them with open paws. 💘
The hedgehog would be so cute with a rhinestone collar
another brilliant video love to hear about everything. Wish you were on more often. I think you should get a job reading the audio books, you make everything sound so exciting. Cannot wait till next week and miss seeing you on the diy xxxx
as someone who is just now watching videos from Pre2020.. I'm fully invested to know what happens to the little hedgehogs
I’m so glad you bought the hat! It looks perfect on you! Can’t wait to see it during a party. 👏🏻
Lovely video as usual🥰. I’m glad it’s not me trapping up all those stairs to bleed the heating lines, I have a hard enough time getting them bled on our two floors. The hedges are living in the lap of luxury “ I think we’ll winter at the palace this year, don’t mind the human servants, it’s so hard to get good help” . I wonder if they lived in the Chateau other winters and were just never noticed. Happy travels, I live in Nova Scotia which is basically New Scotland, and in Cape Breton it truly does look like the highlands of Scotland no doubt that’s what brought them to the name. They make whisky in the highlands here as well. There is still a lot of the heritage treasured. There is a Gaelic college where you can get your clan plaid or kilt made, learn the language, how to play the old instruments including the bagpipes, just to name a few things. There are Scottish festivals as well and lots of whiskey is consumed to oil the body to be ready to dance. Hope you get to enjoy some wonderful history while you’re there.🙋🏼
Hi jillipepper5353 I googled where you live good size population. The pic's I googled are so pretty and green. I have never heard of bleeding heat lines. I live in the hot dry part of CA USA Have a good weekend
Romance with the Past ; air can get in the pipes in a hot water heating system so you go to the last radiator and release any air trapped there. Your heat stops working well if there is air in the lines. Check out images of The Cabot Trail Nova Scotia,in autumn to see miles of beautiful trees with the leaves in brilliant colour. Also check out images from Peggy’s Cove , Nova Scotia to see what it’s like not far from where I live. It is beautiful country here and not far from the city of Halifax as well. 🙋🏼
Donna, qjite the food connoisseur and cook. Great job, Donna. Loved the clothes u got Steph, especially the yellow silk and that black jacket, tears and all. And that pate; oh my. I love pate...almost any of it..duck, liver, any!
The spinning wheel of death, lol. I just love watching your channel.
« this kitchen runs on whiskey »
Hahaha, I thought you were getting birds ie. Pigeons. Too funny.
That's too bad about your 2020 events. I haven't gotten to your lockdown videos yet. I'm curious about how Lalande is currently doing.
How I wish I could be there for your fabulous photo weekend. Alas, living so far away in Vancouver makes it difficult. I know that all attending will have a fabulous time. I am looking forward to seeing the pigeons finding the perfect wall and more adventures from my air chair overlooking the ocean.
Super vlog with pigeons, costumes, food and hedgehog - make sure he doesn't end up in the washing machine please - how sweet! You need to revisit The Artists of the Chateau de Lalande re an interesting thing that happens at 5:01 pointed out by Brett Harrison and commented on. It would seem your father made a visit to you while you were talking about him. Think you will find it interesting and rather poignant given your take on the 'other side' and the Chateau history and experiences. Hope you enjoy Scotland - so beautiful! Don't forget to take some warm clothing this time!! Looking forward especially to that vlog - Highlands?
Love the bird wallpaper you have in your bathroom in the attic! Where did you get it?
Hope you were able to re-schedule the photo festival!
Another enchanting video! OOH! Scotland my mom was from Pollockshields, Glasgow! You never stop amazing me!
Didn't have Stephanie down as a pigeon fancier. 100 of them is quite a lot.
I'm so happy that they're not live pigeons. I can't handle them. They make a mess everywhere and ruin historic buildings, eat too much and overpopulate major cities. That's one reason I like the countryside - no pigeons. In fact, I have a phobia to things that can fly. That said, those pics are absolutely charming and will look lovely at LaLande. Congratulations on curating a wonderful collection. Save those for the restored mill.
Such lovely vignettes this week. 🐓I love seeing all the happenings of your week. Sometime while mummy is away can you sneak into her apartment and give us tour!?🦚
The chateau is beautiful, but cleaning it must take a very long time.
Love your work
You had me worried, Stephanie. When I saw the title with the word "pigeons" I immediately thought . . . are you awe of what kind of a mess you are going to have to deal with and how
much squab could you possibly eat. My racing pulse has since subsided. Great video, yet again.
Darryl
Btw...love your vlogs. Haha...to begin with I thought you were buying real pigeon birds. Thank goodness it was the pictures not live birds! The real ones would roost in all the nooks and crannies of the chateau. and make more messes to clean up! We have so many here on our corn farm. Just wild ones. They do fly into our closed windows for some reason. They get stunned then fly away. Greetings from NZ
Hello from upper hutt
At first I thought you had bought living, breathing, flying pigeons!!
Fabulous! Never a dull moment! One day I should love to come and cook, help out with laundry (I do like to iron), but I would truly love to come for the photo exhibition ❤️. Can you please send me the details and costs.
julianne maisey hi! You can also sign up for our newsletter at www.photosdefemmes.org for updates on the schedule and all the pricing
Love the hedgehog 🦔😊🌸
Stephanie your so similar in taste of things to me ;love the pigeon prints.
France has such a great source of Interesting things to buy.
I did think you meant real pigeons to collect, to start with lol.
😂😂😂
You should put a blob of nail polish onto their hedgehog spines on their backs so you can identify how many you have!
Good ivy climbing stand.
Love your vlog. I was "infested" with hedgehogs for a while when I lived in Wimbledon. I thought there was one which came in to eat the cat food, and I put him out at night. I woke up one night to see a hedgehog trying to get in my bedside cabinet - there were two! That one had been living in the house for a while - the evidence was behind all the furniture in the lounge. Not true about the fleas apparently.
4:12 - That meal was smiling up at you.
Another great clip, still love the hedgehog 🦔 thanks for sharing
Always enjoyable, Stephanie.
Sent you an email about next year.....
Best wishes, Vinden & Eve
Enjoyed
She allowed herself to Little bites for strength 😂🤣
Stephanie you mention the possibility of a shop one day, what about using your wood oven to bake and sell bread etc ,
👍👍💕
Maybe that’s why you were feeling cold
I would like to enter a picture of my great aunt taken in 1917. Her name was Alice Bequette.
I searched for and found a digital copy of Illustriertes Prachtwerk sämtlicher Tauben-rassen (the hyphen in the last word, although not on the cover of the German text, is necessary for finding the work) on the website of biodiversitylibrary. I tried to post a direct link in an earlier version of this comment, but RUclips didn't accept that link. If one googles 'biodiversitylibrary' and then in the search bar at the home page enters the title spelled like in my first line, then one can find the digital copy. The work was created by Emil Schachtzabel (author's name is another option for finding the work), and published in Halle (Germany) in 1906. The digital copy was scanned in a resolution high enough to be reproduced on a printer in the original format.
I thought you were getting real pigeons. Lol
Will you have your own tv program ? We would love that !!!!
Isn't youtube enough?

I'm in awe of your heating engineer skills ...
I would like spend a week at your home.
Do you use geothermal to heat the Chateau or is it oil heated? The food looks divine and now I’m hungry for desserts, looks like you had so much fun at the dinner. 🙋🏼
She said in an episode that they use geothermal
You need a special key fot radiators ...
💖👑👑💖xxxxxx
I hope my question is not too indiscreet and if it is, no need to give me any response. But as volunteers as in food for example, who provides the food/ingredients? The host? Stupid question it maybe, sorry in advance.
You look like you are wrapped in the color blue
Can someone tell me about Nati's story? How did she get the La Lande? I know that she is from Argentina.
Ah, I didn’t know that ;)
Hi Steph my daughter Rosie and I are thinking of coming over and offering you four handed massage for the ladies staying at the Chateau to relax them before their photoshoot.
If we didnt have our pictures taken and offered free massage how much would a double room cost us please? What do you think? Dio you think this is a good idea? best regards Deb
deborah Flello Hi Deborah! I’m the one who will be doing the photo shoots. This sounds like a fab idea! We’ll nab Stephanie to chat about it when she’s back from Scotland!
@@reneejacobs3271 Hi Renee nice to talk to you. I would love to come over, I am in the Charente . I am a 30 year veteran (haha) of massage therapy and teaching and I would love to be involved somehow in this wonderful venture! love from Deb

What is your instagram?
When you're blonde skinny and beautiful, those kinds of photos look good. However when your old fat and gray not so much.
