Nice history, my family moved to Thousand Oaks in 1963 my Dad Vince Dougherty worked for Janss as a broker and realtor! Great place to grow up! My brothers both still love there! Great job!
We moved here in 1967 with our young daughter and newborn son. We watched the city grow as My Family did.I've worked here all my life, the past 25 Years as a Realtor. I would meet new clients and offer to give them a tour of "My adopted Home Town" I can not think of a place I would rather live than this Beautiful City of Thousand Oaks. Ken
My Grandfather was in the Navy and he discovered Thousand Oaks while at Point Mugu. He told my Mother about it and my family moved there from Long Beach in 1967. My Mother was a pioneer of open space protection before it was fashionable. She engaged the members of the community, raised money, and hired a Beverly Hills attorney to fight the developers. As a result thousands of acres of open space was preserved and still exists today. My Mother: Carol Stein, was named "Woman of the Year" and we lived in Thousand Oaks for 40 years. She might be gone but what she and the community saved in the 60's is still there. I recognized Francis Prince in this video. She was a great mayor. I wish she would of stayed in politics. America would be a better place if she did.
Love this video and love the City of Thousand Oaks. Thanks for sharing.
