"other birds would probably forget how to sing in the constant dark." most depressing thing i've heard EVER. amazing documentary, though, really. thanks endlessly for translating!
Couldn't have said it better. I am also fascinated by this sort of place. Reminds me of the steampunk/cyberpunk culture but in a more realistic and tangible way. Cheers.
I can hear the kids screaming at the old woman collecting scrap metal "wow she is so aweson" in Catonese. I was born that kowloon not the wall but i know what and where they were referring to, most these places have been knocked down. The only place in Hong Kong similar to this is a place call Chungking Mansion it is a maze in there it is no fucking joke people a dark place where pure pure evil can exist there have been people murdered, killed raped, mugged etc.
Shit, I went there three years ago, now its a huge park with flamingos in it...I had no idea there had once been all that though. Kowloon is fuckin crazy.
hi! i'm working on an article based on kowloon walled city and there are some information in this documentary, which i would like to cite. do you have some detailed information about the source of this documentary? thanks!
Sad this place doesn't exist anymore, but then people would be filming "I dare you to lick the ground" videos all the time. Me, I wouldn't do it for all the tea in... well.

Plus kowloon w.c. is very dark, which makes everything weirder
Oddly enough, this makes me desperately want to visit Hong Kong.
people who lived their said it wasn't lonely but a community.
i can imagine this to be some sort of fantasy dwarven city. filled with magical creatures and buzzing with activity.
I wonder, did tourists ever visit this place? I would.
Awesome, thank you!

@HelmutVillam Thank you, for letting me know
It is, indeed! Amazing how we humans can take something simple like housing to extremes like this.
I know but the mystique is still there in some forms and I just meant the feeling itself.
@TegamiNeko Seeing that the place was torn down decades ago, it's our past.

I really hope that "sedulity" is a super-common word in German, 'cause that's a very obscure word in English. Poor translator
The Doku is German I can understand it :D
This is something out of a Christopher Nolan Batman movie.
The city has been torn down in 1991

Walled city has been demolised since 1993
Against cats! Against human thiefs there are the Triads (Chinese Mafia).
Anderson Cynthia Martin Eric Jackson George
