Love Beauty and the Beast retellings. My favourite is by Robin McKinley but my favourite author of retellings as a whole is K.M. Shea.

I noticed someone else mentioned the book for Ella Enchanted. I agree, you really should pick that one up. It's still one of my favorite retellings of any fairytale. Plus it is so much better than the movie.
Another you might want to try is Beauty by Robin McKinley. It's a Beauty and the Beast retelling and is another personal favorite. I've reread it more times than I can count. She has actually done two versions of Beauty and the Beast and the second one is Rose Daughter. I haven't managed to read that one yet, so I can't say how good it is (though I've yet to read a bad Robin McKinley book and I'm at 8 or 9).

I really enjoyed Ella Enchanted the movie too :) Gosh I am absolutely amazed at how big re-tellings have become! I'd never even heard of them until I picked up Cinder, now I see them everywhere!

I was also very excited about Ash but it was so disappointing!! I felt the same as you, like overall it really didn't have a plot and there was no motivation for any of the things the characters were doing. Oh I adore Beauty and the Beast!! I'm leaving with so many new books in my tbr, I'm glad you had a good experience with its adaptations!! ♥

I enjoyed the different ways all the beauty and the best adaptations had taken the story and run with it in very different ways 😀

A Kiss at Midnight was the 1st Eloisa James I ever read and just adored it. I'm so happy you liked it :)

Well I love fairytales and fairytale retellings so I totally loved this. I bought Barefoot on the Wind on your mentioning in a previous video. Can't wait to read it.

You know the step mothers actually used to be mothers, but the Grimm's changed that because motherhood was sacred to them.

Have you read the book of Ella Enchanted? It's probably my all time favourite childhood book - and the movie doesn't do it justice at all! I can see how if you haven't read the book you'd like the film, but I definitely recommend the book as well :)
