It's good to know that R & R are still going. Ron Perrot was the person who got me into model submarines many years ago. Good luck with the new location.
I've used Ron's pumped module and his piston module, they really are a work of art. With the horizontal baffle there's not sloshing which makes for a very stable model. Not sure if Bobs carrying them but Ron also do a twin pump module which will do larger boats (a club mate has one in an otw vii for example).
Have the smaller one from R&R for my K273 Mike class from Zero Bubble.. works great, uncomplicated with Ni-MH stick cell which are quite cheap these days..
For someone looking to start on their first RC sub this seems like a great setup to start out with to get my feet wet :) for a 1/72 scale sub would you recommend a 70mm or 80mm subdriver to start with ?
It's great to see you back on RUclips. You've got something strange going on with your camera. There's bunch of excess brightness around white objects. I hope Texas is treating your well.
R&R dive system is simple, but very durable, easy to use and built with high quality. I have a Skipjack from R&R.

Depends on the subject. It's not about scale, it's about size.
What type of ballast system is it?
Will it work if the boat is completely submerged or does it need air from the surface to empty the tank?

What is the role of that external hose?
Air intake for the ballast system.
