Its sad, i believe Jinse would had been a great friend to Ruyi, if only her mother and the rest had not made her believe Ruyi was the cause of all things in the palace. I know she was loyal to her mother but as Ruyi said to her, she had a responsibility and could not stay in the forbidden city forever. @@KhanKhan-mm3yk it's like the empress dowager. Everyone bows to her regardless of being her son's concubine or not. Heijing is the legitimate daughter of the emperor and the granddaughter of the empress dowager. She has a higer rank among them by being a pure blooded royal.

And an Empress's child has the highest rank among all of the siblings, because they are a part of the legitimate branch of Royal Family. Others are concubines, the Empress is a wife. So, Princess Hejing, as a daughter of an Empress, ranks over all of them except the immediate Royals. The only women of the harem she was require to bow to would be to Empress Dowager and Empress. Every other concubine would have to bow to her.

Why did the ying consort need to bow to the princess?

Ying consort is also a princess. Maybe thats why?
Because of their difference in social status
Even though Ying consort is the current emperor's concubine, Princess Hejing is the legitimate child of the current emperor and empress Xiaoxian
It was mentioned before in a previous episode with Jia royal consort, no matter how high your status is in the inner harem, concubines are alike to the servants of the empress and vice versa their children are also considered as servants for the legitimate child (e.g Hejing Princess & the 12th Prince).
The Qing dynasty take its hierarchy in terms of legitimacy very seriously.
Hence thats why even though Ying consort is technically considered her stepmum in name, her actual position is lower than Hejing princess.
Government officials have rankings and so do the ladies of the harem, she doesn't bow but the gesture is more of a greeting like if she was greeting another consort of the same rank. Notice how ying fei calls her to stop her and the princess is the one greeting her but doesn't need to wait for ying fei to tell her it's ok to get up, that shows that they're similar in rank and hejing is doing it out of respect cuz ying fei is her stepmother.
If you pay attention to when ying fei greets someone with a higher ranking like a gui fei or huang gui fei ranking she'll wait for them to say something along the lines of "get up", when she greets someone that also has a fei title they'll do the greeting that hejing does and not wait for the other person to pardon each other.
Because Ying Fei is a consort not the main wife..If we say in modern terms she will be like mistress(I know it's a bit rude but that's the term that we use now for other wives)...but Hejing is the legitimate daughter...so Ying fei as a tradition has to bow to her..and also for respect

"Dowager" is the title used by a woman whose husband has died. That means that a Dowager Princess is the wife of a Prince who has died, and a Dowager Empress is the wife of an Emperor who has died. I hope that helps.
