@carljensen5730 The "massive inflation" of which you speak is actually the lowest inflation in the industrialized world. EVERY major economy has experienced inflation since the pandemic, and many of them are dealing with DOUBLE DIGIT inflation. It's one of the downsides of a global economy in which we all participate (whether we like it or not), but keeps many prices relatively stable year-round. For example, fruits and vegetables tend to be at relatively the same price all year, even though they would only be available for a small portion of the year in a localized-economy.
Seth is really off track in many ways including: 1) For 30 years Biden has made many gaffes, yet he did a great job as senator, VP and pres. 2) If Biden drops out, his replacement WON’T be able to run on the great success of the past 4 years. When Hillary ran in 2016, though she was one of the top people in the Obama admin, she got zero credit for the Obama admin successes. When Gore ran after Clinton’s 8 years, he got no credit for the major success of those 8 years. Voters only evaluate a person based on what they think of that person, and they get no credit for having been employed by someone successful. Seth incorrectly and naively claims that if Biden were out of the race, the Dems could be talking about all of Biden’s successes with the economy etc and using those things to win. That’s not true: almost nobody thinks that Harris played a sizable role - just like they didn’t think Gore played a sizable role. The Dems would be giving away their greatest strength in this election, which is Biden having a great presidency. The media wouldn’t at all give Harris credit and thus they wouldn’t consider Biden’s success as a valid campaign topic. Moreover, because the media loves conflict, their focus would turn to a mix of: a) how the Democrats made a rash decision and a giant risk by switching to Harris so late. b) digging up problems from Kamala’s past and spotlighting those. c) the fact that many Biden supporters are mad about him being pushed out, and how many of them aren’t going to vote. d) the fact that many supporters of Warren, Hillary and Newsom feel the process of choosing the new nominee wasn’t fair, and their preferred candidate got mistreated. e) focus on the fact that Harris is very inexperienced at running a large presidential campaign. f) the ways in which Harris isn’t likeable. The media loves doing this. She’ll be unfairly painted as a left winger from California who “middle America” and the heartland don’t connect with. 3) Lots of people mix up names and it has nothing to do with their levels of intelligence. For example, on PBS’ Brooks and Capehart tonight, Brooks referred to someone else as Trump. Many people also mix up words. Seth is being very dishonest when he says that Biden was claiming the French president of 30 years ago is now the president. That would mean he's insane and delusional. Clearly he just mixed up the names. Also, lots of people from time to time say one of the following: “I lost my train of thought.” “Sorry I’m drawing a blank.” “I forgot what I was going to say.” 4) Seth incorrectly paints a picture as if the number of bad days for Biden is roughly the same as good ones. In fact, in the last week or so, Biden has proven himself to be energetic and articulate in 6 appearances: a) his speech in NC the day after the debate. b) his Nato press conference. c) his speech without a teleprompter to the AFL-CIO. d) his talk to the nation about project 2025. e) his speech in Detroit. f) his interview with ABC. For good days, he’s batting 100% since the debate.
5) Seth says: “If we had a strong candidate who’s energetic …” as if it’s easy to find a “strong candidate” for president. Clearly Hillary wasn’t a strong enough candidate because she lost. Harris was such a bad candidate when she ran for president that she dropped out before 8 other people. And she was getting under 7%, and she got no delegates. There’s a chance she might turn out to be greatly improved enough to be a strong candidate, but it’s kind of a roll of the dice. When a person like her is only superficially known by voters, very early polls of a hypothetical matchup between her and Trump are highly inaccurate and mean little. After the spotlight is shown on the person and voters see more of the person, they often shift. I’m not saying she wouldn’t be a good president - she probably would be. But that’s different from being a strong candidate. As for others, if the VP as the #2 ranking Democrat in the US was skipped over to replace Biden and they instead picked, Amy K or Whitimer or Warren, the cries of racism and white privilege would be very strong, and probably many blacks would avoid voting in response. Plus Amy K was only a so-so candidate. Warren does well in a primary but is too far left to win a general. 6) When people have colds and it’s 9pm at the end of a long day of work, many people’s minds get mushy. Common expressions that many people around the country use at some point during the course of a year are: “Sorry, I can’t think straight today,” or “My mind is mush”. Or “I’m brain dead today.” It happens to most people, even when they don’t have a cold. But having a cold makes it more likely; and it being 9pm after a long day makes it more likely; and both at once makes it far more likely. Add to that four other big factors: a) People with stutters are much more likely to lose the thread of a topic mid-sentence, b) Biden had not been in a debate in 4 years. c) it’s the first debate he ever did without people present. d) he was contending with someone telling massive lies non-strop - and it’s virtually impossible to debate someone like that. That’s 6 hard things all at the same time. 7) Also, one of the two greatest presidents in American history was FDR, who was in a wheelchair and didn't walk. So it's absurd for Seth to moan about the speed at which BIDEN WALKS. It has no bearing on his ability to do his job. A key thing is that Seth COULD BE talking about the strong economy with those minutes, but SETH IS choosing to put the focus on trivial things like that. Another example is Seth moaning about Biden returning to answer a question. Totally trivial and zero impact on his job. Notice that Democrats love to attack their own candidate. They attacked Gore about being too stiff, and the focus on that trivial thing was a real reason why Bush beat him. They attacked Hillary for being too ambitious or too much of a politician, which made it much harder to beat Trump. All candidates have flaws, yet the Democrats get very hung up on them - complaining about the ways in which their nominee isn't perfect enough ... while the Republicans unite around their nominee. As a result, they got very unqualified people elected president 3 times: Bush twice and Trump once. Seth is normally good, but he’s messing up on this election. He really needs to think things through, and not just go with superficial thinking that panders to his audience.

Biden just answered 30 minutes of reporter question & explained a lot foreign policy issues and did quit well with exception of mixing up Harris & Trump name. It was easy enough to follow his answer. I think it's all about money. Trump has promised more tax cuts for the ultra wealthy. On the other hand, Biden wants to raise taxes on people with incomes OVER 400k. Don't forget that almost everyone you see on camera has an annual income that will see more taxes under Biden and less taxes under Trump. The corporate overlords are quietly pulling the strings.

President Biden's press conferences usually show him as very presidential and knowledgeable. 😊💙 He clearly knows his plans and accomplishments and communicates them well. On the other hand, former President Trump's press conferences often lacked detailed knowledge and respect for traditional norms. 😕 He often came across as a bully, being more confrontational and focusing on rhetoric rather than specific plans. This really highlights the different approaches and priorities of the two leaders.

The media only shows us the 1% to 5%" so it seems like 50%. But if you look at 100 things he sees, a very very high percentage is fine. And maybe add: Biden knows such a huge amount of knowledge, that even if he forgot 5% of it, that 5% would be more than all the knowledge Trump has had in his life.

Except low information voters only see snips here and there, and most have already made up their mind that Biden is too old. If the democrats provided any other candidate, they would easily win. I know not everyone lives in suburban or rural areas in swing states, but if you did you would hear what people are saying. If democrats had the opportunity to replace Biden with literally any candidate, this race would be a landslide victory for the democrats! Instead, people are arguing that we should stick to the status quo: where votes for Biden, which are mostly anti-Trump, are going to be, at best, within a percentage point of the votes for Trump. Biden can win, but this election is too important to walk into a statistical tie where Biden may win. Any other candidate would receive the anti-Trump votes along with votes from low-info voters that are so happy to have another option they will vote for anyone (which is why right now RFK will receive around 5% of the vote). Biden is currently losing in swing states, and I don't think anyone that pays enough attention to watch this show believes that Biden can have a flawless candidacy going forward, which is what he needs to possibly win back low-info voters. Any flub will be played non-stop on social media by the other side and will continue to be talked about by the media. This election is too important for me to stay silent. I have never really thought much about debates. The job of president involves thoughtful analysis not snap responses. A president should be judged by the quality of the people working for him and advising him.

Unfortunately appearances matter and Joe Biden's appearances haven't been very good lately. If this was just about age I'd still be telling people to calm down, but when Biden appears to be in cognitive decline and isn't the vigorous and in-your-face Biden who ran against Trump in 2020 it makes a lot of people concerned. I'll vote for Biden (or anyone else the Dems run) in November because I'm voting against Trump and Project 2025. But the Democrats need a candidate that can win over those undecided voters who lives in a swing state and might not vote in November because they don't like either candidate, not me in my safe Blue state.

We’re not “allowing” anything. Majority of people wouldn’t vote for him, but between people who see voting as pointless because of the electoral college and gerrymandering (a big part of how he got elected in 2016, and valid concerns even though I tell everyone I know to go vote anyway), plus all the people who struggle/are unable to vote because of biased voter ID laws, transportation/voting location issues, having to choose between working (so they can make rent/eat) or taking time off to vote, etc it’s a mess but we aren’t fucking “allowing” it. we’re trying to stay alive and doing our best. I’d imagine living in Europe but it’s not like that continent doesn’t have its own tr*mp types slinking their way into positions of power, too So many of us fear for our sanity, safety, and lives if Biden doesn’t win in a few months, and have spent so much time and effort trying to convince conservatives we deserve basic human compassion and respect…. just for them to say they’ll vote for tr*mp anyway. I’m still behind Biden. He’s never been a great speaker, ever, and he’s always been a bit stumbly. But he can across as very experienced tonight in the things that actually matter, policy, international affairs, relations, defense, civil rights, etc. Who care if an 80 year old man said the wrong name. EVERY major economy has experienced inflation since the pandemic, and many of them are dealing with DOUBLE DIGIT inflation. It's one of the downsides of a global economy in which we all participate (whether we like it or not), but keeps many prices relatively stable year-round. For example, fruits and vegetables tend to be at relatively the same price all year, even though they would only be available for a small portion of the year in a localized-economy.
Seth is really off track in many ways including: 1) For 30 years Biden has made many gaffes, yet he did a great job as senator, VP and pres. 2) If Biden drops out, his replacement WON’T be able to run on the great success of the past 4 years. When Hillary ran in 2016, though she was one of the top people in the Obama admin, she got zero credit for the Obama admin successes. When Gore ran after Clinton’s 8 years, he got no credit for the major success of those 8 years. Voters only evaluate a person based on what they think of that person, and they get no credit for having been employed by someone successful. Seth incorrectly and naively claims that if Biden were out of the race, the Dems could be talking about all of Biden’s successes with the economy etc and using those things to win. That’s not true: almost nobody thinks that Harris played a sizable role - just like they didn’t think Gore played a sizable role. The Dems would be giving away their greatest strength in this election, which is Biden having a great presidency. The media wouldn’t at all give Harris credit and thus they wouldn’t consider Biden’s success as a valid campaign topic. Moreover, because the media loves conflict, their focus would turn to a mix of:
a) how the Democrats made a rash decision and a giant risk by switching to Harris so late. b) digging up problems from Kamala’s past and spotlighting those. c) the fact that many Biden supporters are mad about him being pushed out, and how many of them aren’t going to vote. d) the fact that many supporters of Warren, Hillary and Newsom feel the process of choosing the new nominee wasn’t fair, and their preferred candidate got mistreated. e) focus on the fact that Harris is very inexperienced at running a large presidential campaign. f) the ways in which Harris isn’t likeable. The media loves doing this. She’ll be unfairly painted as a left winger from California who “middle America” and the heartland don’t connect with.
3) Lots of people mix up names and it has nothing to do with their levels of intelligence. For example, on PBS’ Brooks and Capehart tonight, Brooks referred to someone else as Trump. Many people also mix up words. Seth is being very dishonest when he says that Biden was claiming the French president of 30 years ago is now the president. That would mean he's insane and delusional. Clearly he just mixed up the names. Also, lots of people from time to time say one of the following: “I lost my train of thought.” “Sorry I’m drawing a blank.” “I forgot what I was going to say.”
4) Seth incorrectly paints a picture as if the number of bad days for Biden is roughly the same as good ones. In fact, in the last week or so, Biden has proven himself to be energetic and articulate in 6 appearances: a) his speech in NC the day after the debate. b) his Nato press conference. c) his speech without a teleprompter to the AFL-CIO. d) his talk to the nation about project 2025. e) his speech in Detroit. f) his interview with ABC. For good days, he’s batting 100% since the debate.
5) Seth says: “If we had a strong candidate who’s energetic …” as if it’s easy to find a “strong candidate” for president. Clearly Hillary wasn’t a strong enough candidate because she lost. Harris was such a bad candidate when she ran for president that she dropped out before 8 other people. And she was getting under 7%, and she got no delegates. There’s a chance she might turn out to be greatly improved enough to be a strong candidate, but it’s kind of a roll of the dice. When a person like her is only superficially known by voters, very early polls of a hypothetical matchup between her and Trump are highly inaccurate and mean little. After the spotlight is shown on the person and voters see more of the person, they often shift. I’m not saying she wouldn’t be a good president - she probably would be. But that’s different from being a strong candidate. As for others, if the VP as the #2 ranking Democrat in the US was skipped over to replace Biden and they instead picked, Amy K or Whitimer or Warren, the cries of racism and white privilege would be very strong, and probably many blacks would avoid voting in response. Plus Amy K was only a so-so candidate. Warren does well in a primary but is too far left to win a general.
6) When people have colds and it’s 9pm at the end of a long day of work, many people’s minds get mushy. Common expressions that many people around the country use at some point during the course of a year are: “Sorry, I can’t think straight today,” or “My mind is mush”. Or “I’m brain dead today.” It happens to most people, even when they don’t have a cold. But having a cold makes it more likely; and it being 9pm after a long day makes it more likely; and both at once makes it far more likely. Add to that four other big factors: a) People with stutters are much more likely to lose the thread of a topic mid-sentence, b) Biden had not been in a debate in 4 years. c) it’s the first debate he ever did without people present. d) he was contending with someone telling massive lies non-strop - and it’s virtually impossible to debate someone like that. That’s 6 hard things all at the same time.
7) Also, one of the two greatest presidents in American history was FDR, who was in a wheelchair and didn't walk. So it's absurd for Seth to moan about the speed at which BIDEN WALKS. It has no bearing on his ability to do his job. A key thing is that Seth COULD BE talking about the strong economy with those minutes, but SETH IS choosing to put the focus on trivial things like that. Another example is Seth moaning about Biden returning to answer a question. Totally trivial and zero impact on his job.
Notice that Democrats love to attack their own candidate. They attacked Gore about being too stiff, and the focus on that trivial thing was a real reason why Bush beat him. They attacked Hillary for being too ambitious or too much of a politician, which made it much harder to beat Trump. All candidates have flaws, yet the Democrats get very hung up on them - complaining about the ways in which their nominee isn't perfect enough ... while the Republicans unite around their nominee. As a result, they got very unqualified people elected president 3 times: Bush twice and Trump once. Seth is normally good, but he’s messing up on this election. He really needs to think things through, and not just go with superficial thinking that panders to his audience.

President Biden's press conferences usually show him as very presidential and knowledgeable. 😊💙 He clearly knows his plans and accomplishments and communicates them well. On the other hand, former President Trump's press conferences often lacked detailed knowledge and respect for traditional norms. 😕 He often came across as a bully, being more confrontational and focusing on rhetoric rather than specific plans. This really highlights the different approaches and priorities of the two leaders.

Except low information voters only see snips here and there, and most have already made up their mind that Biden is too old. If the democrats provided any other candidate, they would easily win. I know not everyone lives in suburban or rural areas in swing states, but if you did you would hear what people are saying. If democrats had the opportunity to replace Biden with literally any candidate, this race would be a landslide victory for the democrats! Instead, people are arguing that we should stick to the status quo: where votes for Biden, which are mostly anti-Trump, are going to be, at best, within a percentage point of the votes for Trump. Biden can win, but this election is too important to walk into a statistical tie where Biden may win. Any other candidate would receive the anti-Trump votes along with votes from low-info voters that are so happy to have another option they will vote for anyone (which is why right now RFK will receive around 5% of the vote). Biden is currently losing in swing states, and I don't think anyone that pays enough attention to watch this show believes that Biden can have a flawless candidacy going forward, which is what he needs to possibly win back low-info voters. Any flub will be played non-stop on social media by the other side and will continue to be talked about by the media. This election is too important for me to stay silent. Call your members of congress and tell them to keep applying pressure to him.

We’re not “allowing” anything. Majority of people wouldn’t vote for him, but between people who see voting as pointless because of the electoral college and gerrymandering (a big part of how he got elected in 2016, and valid concerns even though I tell everyone I know to go vote anyway), plus all the people who struggle/are unable to vote because of biased voter ID laws, transportation/voting location issues, having to choose between working (so they can make rent/eat) or taking time off to vote, etc it’s a mess but we aren’t fucking “allowing” it. we’re trying to stay alive and doing our best. I’d imagine living in Europe but it’s not like that continent doesn’t have its own tr*mp types slinking their way into positions of power, too

Look at some clips, for real, and lots of folks are talking about how he went crazy in depth and knew all the issues and their nuances, like that little aside about having to talk Turkey into allowing Finland to join NATO. Trust me, he did great.
