- Every superhero has that one big bad who defines their legacy as much as their personal actions do. Mr. Fantastic has Dr. Doom, Spider-Man has Venom, and Batman’s crusade against crime as a concept itself is never-ending; though the figurehead of his rogues’ gallery is undeniably The Joker. Till 1992, Lex Luthor was seen as Superman’s arch-enemy; and then with The Death of Superman, and all anyone could talk about was Doomsday. The ancient Kryptonian nightmare tore through America in his debut rampage and is the first being who has actually managed to definitively “kill” Superman. His immense strength and terrifyingly-adaptive physiology effectively makes him immortal, while giving him a Super Saiyan-sized power boost every time he “dies”. So it only makes sense that Batman has a contingency plan for him, just as he does for the Justice League of America itself. But what if Doomsday was a part of his contingencies, not a subject? What if, in a world where he used to be the herald of Armageddon, he becomes their last symbol of true hope? And what if that hope destroys itself in a maddened bid for self-preservation; and the world along with it? We’ll answer all those questions and more in this video as we explore the origins of one of the most twisted versions of Batman from the Dark Multiverse: The Devastator.

I love devastator origin and seeing my boy Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy as his little 10 year old self watching his mother turn into a monster was really sad and depressing.

Wait so Batman turned into a giant green robot that consists of 6 smaller robots?
I love how front loaded this video was, how just all events involving doom day have plenty of build up, almost like a eldritch horror. The final pay off is short and sweet but always leaves a lingering after effect, like some stain you can't wash off. I don't know maybe I'm over thinking it, but that is what I've noticed with doomsdays narrative, that's the formula I guess.
This would make for a great batman sequel

Saying Doomsday took Luthor's place as Superman's arch-nemesis, due to killing him, would be like saying Bane took Joker's place as Batman's arch-nemesis for breaking his back. Sure these acts have gained both characters notoriety, but both heroes were able to overcome those adversities, resulting in them becoming just another member of the heroes respective villains.
Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde has always been a top 10 fav powerset of mine. Especially if tht Monster Transformation is The Hulk or Doomsday!

Doomsday didn't rely on any cheap tricks like kryptonite. Only sheer brute strength that's enough to equal, if not outperform, Superman's.

Yeah Devastator is one my favorite dark knights but who wins Devastator or The Merciless
Very similar power levels. However, I think, since Diana (wonder woman) is considered to be able to kill sups who the devastator is the mirror to, her mirror, the Merciless should be able to win.

And then is given a brush-off death in the finale with no pathos or the heroes proving his way of thinking wrong. It would have been better if Doomsday Jimmy Olson from Superman All-Stars had beaten him. Or just have Superman tell him that his intellect makes a WEAKER Doomsday since he can't access the mindless fury that empowers Doomsday. (In the comics, when Doomsday evolved intelligence after how many times he was outsmarted... he got WEAKER because he could now experience fear and doubt!)
But the question is who stops Bruce?
Superman never killed Batman in that fight. Batman did exactly what he wanted to. He beat Superman and then had a heart attack and faked his death. You should probably read your comics before you make these videos.
Problem with the zack snider kryptonite smoke 40mm grenade is in justice league superman was able to see and strike the flash!
In BM vs SM, SM was able to catch the grenade... but he wasn't fast enough to see the pop..... its a direct contradiction to superman's powers and a blantent way of saying that superman would outright destroy BM in a fight.
BM has his thing which is "with enough prep time he can beat anyone"..... problem with this is.... that statement can be said for literally anyone. "With enough prep time I can beat batman"
Funny how he's the worlds greatest detective yet doesn't know what a simple carpet laying tool is or even bother to ask.
