Webinar: Introducing Social Mass Balance™

On September 26, 2023, Field to Market hosted a webinar titled, "Introducing Social Mass Balance™: A Quantifiable Metric of Social Sustainability in Agricultural Supply Chains."
During the webinar, Seanicaa Edwards Herron, Founder and Executive Director of Freedmen Heirs Foundation, presented Social Mass Balance™, a revolutionary approach which enables agribusinesses to diversify and expand their supply channels while also promoting racial equity and social responsibility in the agriculture and food sector.
The approach, which prioritizes strategic partnerships among Black farmers and producers, agribusinesses, nonprofits, and public and private sector, enables stakeholders to lead on improved and transformed social outcomes, such as providing access to resources, knowledge, and funding to support Black farmers and producers who have historically experienced discrimination.
Herron was joined by Deanna Petersen, Cargill Corporate Responsibility Strategy Leader, who discussed Cargill's use of the Social Mass Balance approach.
