Well done again Mak. I like that variation as it’s very much like the ones I tie here in Colorado (except yours are much bigger there in England.) And also, your flies look so exceptional not only because you have great technique but you take great care AFTER your flies are tied to brush and clean up 👍🏼 Great job and keep the flies comin Mak!

Thank you Trout Soup, I made this one on 16 so we can see better on Screen, works really well here , but I know what you mean, lot's of midge normally tied on very small sizes, I have 16-18-20 in my box, Any how thank you very much for the compliment , I really appreciate that, 👍👍👍
      Regards,,, Mak

Hi Mak, a lovely dressing very similar to the footballer nymph that I tied on a 16 and was very effective during a caenis hatch . Thanks for another great tutorial. Cheers Jimf

Nice one Mak! Noticed your resin brush has gone all fuzzy. Find that a nuisance as it makes it difficult to to control the resin. Got fed-up with mine yesterday and replaced the fuzzy fine bristles with a 8-10 stiff bristles cut from the paint brush that I use for tailing materials. Works great as I can easily add, distribuite or even remove the resin as needed. Cheers! Hank

@@Makflies It was a quick fix Mak. I just cut a bunch of bristles (full length to make it easier to work with) aligned the tips and put 10 or so wraps of fine ribbing wire around the bundle to hold it together while I checked the fit. It took a couple of tries before I got the bundle size right. Once it was ok, I used a tiny amount of resin to lock it all together, trimmed it to length and jammed the new brush into the wand - works very well! Now I wonder why I waited so long to do it LOL! Off to tie a couple of these flies for the box!

my grandfather taught me how to tie flys.. and he taught me to always to counter wrap any ribbing,, is the an advantage or disadvantage to this.. as you dont counter wrap your ribbing

    • @Makflies
