So much great advice in this show - keep sharing the knowledge! As a person DJing since 1999 I of course agree that owning music is essential and we’re lucky now that we can preview and integrate streamed songs to see how they fit with our existing catalogue
Great content as usual Phil, I'm with most of the comments here,, With my music I rarely need headphones, I mainly play old beats Funk, Disco and know the tracks inside out plus with Cues and Sync, it makes it easier.. While I don't specifically play pre planned sets, I do have groups of tracks that blend together quite well so I do have them in an order in playlists..
Began mixing vinyl in 1979. Mixing was impossible without headphones. Sync has made mixing without headphones simple UNLESS it's a song I've never used.
I never plan 1 song as a mobile DJ. And I Never know the next song until I see how the last song went over. And I use headphones maybe half of the time or so. If you know the song and know how it starts you can line up the waveforms.
I think you've vastly overestimated my running ability but otherwise great stream. P.S. Great job in calling Serato out. I am adding DJing as an aside to production and so I've been trying out all the software. Serato was the only software I'd heard of before. But after comparing pricing, Serato is the only software I know I will not consider.
We watched their pricing go up and up and up over a very short space of time, maybe their business managers were fattening the profits up for a potential sale, not that we have any inside knowledge about that kind of thing (or particularly care to be honest, we're creators not capitalists 🎶)
Possibly if we can find time as these are pretty big undertakings, won't be first half of 2024 though as we're working on two huge projects internally that have block-booked all of our calendars!
There is latency on some gaming speaker. I tried with the Logitech g560 I have on my pc and there’s noticeable latency. You gotta make sure you get more basic ones. I ended up getting a mackie go
@@digitaldjtips I think it depends on the input. It’s connected by usb to my pc and it’s fine. But when connected to my controller with aux there’s a delay

Phil I LOVE your channel! I'm a musician for 35 years and DJ for 16 years this year. I so appreciate what you do here. Thanks!
Thanks Donny!

Yes, best of both worlds!

Happy New Year Phil and the entire DDJT team 🎊🎉✨
Keep up the good work 👍
Cheers to 2024 🥂

Another use of headphones is to decide if a track suits the current track before choosing to play it
@digitaldjtips Agree! My comment was about the mechanics of mixing 2 songs. Headphones are required for MANY reasons.

All true
i have paid in full beat loop and all saints pure shores in my start crate , very fatboy slim but love it to start my sets!
Awesome!

Mel Starr is the king of dis with no headphones.
Any plans to do a free Rane Four training session similar to your FLX10 session?

Really? Surprised at that, not something any gamer I know would put up with (not least my 13-year-old son!)

if you know your music and know how to read it, you don't need headphones, it's as simple as that
No, it's not that simple, or no DJs would use headphones.
Couldn't you mix using only the boith output at a loud festival?
Sorry, not sure what you're asking
the track would be output to the mains. CUEing is why you need headphones
some ppl do that, when the mains are loud enough so that the audience can't hear the booth
@@duroxkilo The audience hears the booth regardless. Booth and Main outputs are the same, just routed to different sets of speakers
they don't make mixers that can route monitor/headphone outputs to the booth speakers? @@MarcDesco18
